and we continue telling them they don't have to do anything, all we've got to do is tax the rich more. i think, basically, dodges that issue. not that i'm not willing to tax the rich more, but even there i don't think the taxation system is the major issue. the tax on the rich if you go from bush to obama haven't really gone down, they've gone down in other parts of the population. so to me, when you're dealing with the maldistribution of wealth you've got a lot of different issues having to do with no monopolies that go pretty far beyond what i covered in this book. >> great, thank you. let's give a round of applause. [applause] >> is there a nonfiction author or book you'd like to see featured on booktv? send us an e-mail to booktv at c-span.org. tweet us at booktv or post on our wall, facebook.com/booktv. >> host: booktv is at bookexpo america which is the publishers' annual trade show and one of the

publishers that's here is wnd. the founder, formerly known as world net daily, is joseph farah. will farah -- mr. farah, what is wnd, first of all? >> guest: well, wnd, obviously, stands for world net daily, but, you know, it's a lot easier to remember three digits, three letters than it is world net daily, that voluminous title. and, you know, our philosophy is, basically, we're a multifaceted company. first of all, wnd.com is one of the largest web sites in america and one of the largest news sites. and it is the oldest independent news site on the internet, 17 years old. in internet years that's about a thousand years old. there are and we branched off many years ago, began publishing books more than a decade ago. in that time amazing story of wnd books is that we have the highest percentage of new york

times best sellers of any publisher this america. any publisher in the world for that matter. and subsequently, we've begun doing a lot of movies, especially documentaries. and we're having tremendous success there with w, this d films. >> host: before we talk about some of the books you have coming out this fall, who are some of the authors you have published already? >> guest: yeah. well, we've published many members of congress, for instance. senators tom coburn and members of congress, probably a dozen of them over the last 12 years. but, you know, probably our best selling author and most well known, three-time number one new york times best seller is michael savage, the radio talk show host. we've also had a number of number one best sellers by jerome corsi who's a staff writer for us. but, you know, the secret to wnd is we publish books a lot of other publishers would be afraid to publish. [laughter] it's the philosophy of wnd, you

know? we started as a watchdog news agency kind of with, you know, the tradition of american journalism where, you know, somebody needs to be the watchdog on government and other powerful institutions, and we've translated that into books over the years by printing, publishing edgy titles. by the way, both christian and secular. we've had a lot of success in the christian field because a lot of christian publishers don't like controversy. we love controversy. >> host: who are some of the authors you have coming out this fall? >> guest: well, we have one very -- it's been a secret, so this is a scoop for c-span. remember todd aiken? the bi-word, political bi-word todd aiken? well, he's been very quiet for the last two years. one of the things we noticed is that every day, you know, we subscribe to google alerts like

everybody else does, and i always subscribe to todd aiken to see what people are saying about him. and it has never stopped. the criticism that, you know, he's treated like a pariah for an interview he gave which lasted all of about 20 seconds was the controversial part. and, of course, he lost that senate race in missouri as a result. and everybody, you know, putting distance between themselves and him. well, he's coming back after two years of being very quiet, and in july he is going to come out with a book called "firing back" published by wnd books. and i have to tell you, i think it's going to be -- you know, we've done some preliminary work with the media. so far there's not a single news agency, network that doesn't want to have todd aiken on to talk about -- [laughter] you know what i'm talking about, peter. so that's coming out in july. we've got a very interesting and

diverse series of books. phyllis schlafly, who's one of our authors, is coming out with a book in september called "who killed the american family." we've got a book by three women, gorgeous women, which is called "what women really want." morgan britney, famous for the "dallas" series, dr. gina louden and anne marie -- [inaudible] three interesting women with a very different view of, you know, what's going on in the world. and be i think that's going to be a very, very big book. and who else do we have? we have -- >> host: well, one of weeks that i saw on your display here is former congressman james rogan. this book came out a while back, didn't it? >> guest: that's right. we brought back one of jim rogan's book.
11:59 am
jim rogan, interesting guy, first of all. member of congress, house impeachment manager during the clinton years, lost because of the democrats targeted him in his re-election bid. and he wrote a book about the impeachment which we also published. but he wrote a book earlier in his life, an autobiography. it's a very compelling story, and and we decided to bring that back because we have a new book, a third book by jim rogan called -- aye got to look, consult my notes -- it's called "and then i met." jim rogan's a fascinating guys because he's one of these guys i admire. he's collected every piece of memorabilia throughout his career, every document he signed, every letter he wrote or was written to him, and he's used that over the years. ..
