k to '33, how many states at that time played a vital role in the global arena? ten? it's a very, very small number of states. so today you have a totally different picture you. make the right projection from 2015 to 1975, in 1975 it was a fight between two systems. there was still the very powerful soviet system, many countries followed the soviet model. soviet union was not only powerful militarily but money. people didn't know how weak was that. so think that today trying to actually say that we are moving into a new cold war era i guess could scare some people. no. no. no it's not exactly 1962 crisis in the caribbean.

not ronald reagan, star wars program, and there will be some other right and also wrong. the line, the dividing line that the berlin wall has disappear doesn't mean we're not facing similar threats. so it makes more difficult to understand that this threat are real and while the free world today is much stronger than 40 years ago for the first time when the free world dominates the planetting are both economically and militarily, but at the same time we don't have the same political will. we don't have the same consensus of the public that there's an evil that makes us concentrate in opposing it. so we could feel indecisiveness unwillingness to even pay attention to these threats, and that's why here in america, or in europe, time and

again we can hear the same voices oh, let's retreat. what happens to ukraine is not our business. what happened in iraq is not our business. wait a second. we live in a world where everything is globalized. anybody in this hall can have access to any information to events -- to any event in the world happening in the next few minutes by sliding a finger on the screen. business is global. finances are global. so just how can you pretend you can walk away and to create a vacuum? there's no vacuum. the moment you create vac call, somebody else will grab it and most likely somebody else will be a group or state with intentions totally opposite to our plan, to our vision of the future. so that's why i want people just to understand that we live in certain reality. 2015 is a world that where

everything depends on each other, and trying to pretend that you can just cut your involvement here but keep the rest isn't possible. you have to -- it's the full monte. you can't cut it. it's not for your to decide. america is still the leader or the free world. america still has the military and economic capacity to protect the free world against all sorts of threats and thinking that we can walk away, just making a great mistake. the difference is that you have to make sure that you build coalition and real coalition not state coalition with many states. we should look at western europe look at japan look at other democracies. india, brazil, south africa. this year we are celebrating the 800th anniversary of the magna carta. the founding documents of the free world. and i think that is time to start thinking about the magna carta for the future.

for those of us living in the west we can't get back our sunday afternoon. i think it's very difficult for us to get back here on a weekday before 5:00, so i would hope on a sunday we wouldn't be expect for the senate to come in session before 5:00 because we can't get here, and i am protecting the western part of my caucus, which is pretty big. i'm not going read anything unless we can come in at least after 5:00. >> well, as my friend the majority leader knows i'd be happy to work with him and i just tried to get a short-term extension of a variety of lengths in order not to put news this position but we're left with this option only, and we'll work with the democratic leader about the actual time, but the law expires at midnight, sunday, a week. and i doubt if there are vary
