pittsburgh really adopted that name. it was a was a steel city. we are proud of the steel in industrial heritage. what is passing the pennsylvania station which has now been converted into housing there was a big bowl here filled with water. it was the end of the line for the pennsylvania canal. limit freight and water. this was the end of the line. this is named grand street. for james grant the french and

dominant industry in pittsburgh today. were coming up on hh richardson county courthouse in jail. you can see that don't this is built after the turn-of-the-century. as one of the architectural wonders here in pittsburgh. were starting to see some of the bridges in pittsburgh. 450 bridges all over the city. we had bridges of all kinds. the streets are aligned with the rivers and a lot of hills and valleys and bridges even the locals have some trouble getting around downtown. once you figure it out it's

not so bad. were going over the smith street. the black and gold of the earl of chatham. the secretary of state during the french and indian war. and that's when pittsburgh was established. we are passing by the incline now and this is the way people got from the high hills down to the mills and plants at the river. the incline planes our set behind. they allow the workers.

it's mostly for tourists. to get a better view. if you have to describe a typical pittsburgh or what would you say. >> old-timers called himself geezers because that's a pittsburgh thing. they go after work today. went to go downtown. they have their own way of speaking. there had been waves of migration. the first people came here during the ice age and set up shop here. the descendents of the american tribe when george washington arrived in 1753.

eastern european today people are coming from asia and from central and south america. we are coming up on the city and county building. that has commemorated pittsburgh's 200th anniversary. they commemorate 200 years a of pittsburgh being incorporated as a city. about this as a minute. in 1816 there were no bridges in pittsburgh. to get across is rivers you have a swim or take a ferry in the summertime you could maybe wait across. with over 450 bridges and a talk together fitting. we had used a bridge as a logo. as a logo. right at the alcoa building.
