over one urgent question. should the united states let more refugees into the country? >> they went the $5000 prize. this u.s. middle and high school students to produce documentaries telling us what is the most urgent issue for the new president and congress to address in 2017. students competed for the chance to win one of 150 prizes totaling $100,000 in prize money. we received almost 3000 entries from 46 states plus the district of columbia, england, germany, singapore and taiwan. and now we're happy to announce our first place winners. in the middle school category the first prize winners are eighth-graders molly doherty, camden lewis and ava deckard from scranton pennsylvania for the documentary u.s. gun violence, a complicated puzzle. the first-place winner for the high school category is 11th grader matthew gannon from gonzaga high school in

washington dc for his documentary titled invisible which deals with homelessness. matthew also won this years fan favorite contest. he will see an additional $500. in high school category i went his 12th grader jared clark from royal oak high school in michigan for his peace enough is enough data with pharmaceutical pricing and are studentcam first prize winner for the high school west category is ninth grader from laramie high school in laramie wyoming for herpes, fossil fuels to renewables. congratulations to our winners. thank you to all the students and their teachers for competing in making this years studentcam competition a success. the cop21 winning entries will air on c-span in april and you can watch all 150 winning documentaries online at studentcam.org.
