>> it is interesting that the greatest american president abraham lincoln is bracketed by arguably the least successful american president. >> this holiday weekend on c-span. >> the u.s. supreme court is deciding when people can sue police over use of force and what constitutes a dangerous situation. that case, los angeles county v. mendez involves a homeless couple living in a shack in a friends backyard. los angeles county sheriffs deputies looking for a parolee illegally searched the house and a small shack behind it. they entered the shack without a word and without knocking. the deputy shot both people in the shack because one of them was holding a bb gun that he used to kill rats. here's the oral argument in the case. it's about one hour.
