think of the of history is a long the north-south divide and great schism -- racism is the highest in the deep south the you can also see on the map with a higher frequency of searches it is also higher in the north in western pennsylvania and eastern ohio and other real divide it is east versus west. it is much, much higher east of the mississippi river and drops substantially. so because people are so honest could you use the data how much obama really lost in the 2008 election?

because those have those high priestess -- racist searches does not compare to the year 2008 so i compare that to the previous candidates like john kerry who was white and a liberal but what you see when you do that and read the book there is a very strong significant relationship in the places with the highest racist search volume like appalachia or industrial michigan is more than the previous democratic candidates so you to start controlling for anything in with those political views and cultural views and nothing changes the relationship and overall i

conclude obama lost four percentage points for racism which is more than any other measure from increased african-american turnout. this language from the academic world when the trump phenomenon was starting to say it was racially charged making those comments in people were questioning how is he doing so well doing things you're not supposed to say? and asking me for the data on the racist search volume and he said all the variables that he could test the single highest
