7:35 pm
those other things. >> was single thing in this proposal is not supported by the nra? is there anything that the nra poses? >> the president still has the age limit increase and that's one of the things that will be reviewed how what the best path forward is. weather can be done at a federal level or if it needs to be done on a state-by-state basis. the president doesn't have the ability to create federal law. here need other individuals to come together. but he's pushing forward on things that can immediately we accomplish through the administration or that have broad-based bipartisan support in congress. doesn't mean he wiped away some of the other things.
7:36 pm
>> what about the divorce commission 24 hours after writ including the idea of blue ribbon commissions. and then on this issue the commission is okay. >> the president just doesn't have one piece of the plan. there's a number of things pushing forward that are tangible both through support of specific pieces of legislation and administrative action like getting rid of the bump stocks that he's been very vocal about it will continue to push for. >> in regressive national rifle association at the paper 20th meeting with lawmakers the president main example of republican senators who are afraid of crossing the nra. he says some of you are
7:37 pm
petrified of the other way, you can't be petrified. based on the plan last night it looks like present trump was petrified because he backed away. i'm asking one he to go forward with what you propose? >> hasn't backed away. they're still outlined in the plan. he cannot make that happen with a broad stroke of the pen. you have to have a congressional component. without the support is not as possible. were focused on what we can do it immediately. the obama administration had the white house and all of congress for two years and never did anything. this congress is supporting specific areas of legislation and laying out other areas you like to see whether that's on a state level. >> he could've put out a proposal for legislation. he could call for raising the ages of the state but he tabled that. >> it's actually listed in his policy proposal that you'll see.
7:38 pm
>> it's reviewing going forward for how to do that. a doors not closed on the. [inaudible] [inaudible] [inaudible] and will there be any repercussions for russia? >> we been monitoring this stink closely and taking it seriously. the use of a highly nerve agent

on u.k. soil is the outrage. it was reckless, indiscriminate and irresponsible. we extend our sympathy to the victims and their families and our support to u.k. government. we stand by our closest ally in the special relationship that we have. >> your sin russia was not behind that. >> right now were standing with their u.k. allies. they're still working through the details of that. we will continue to work with u.k. we stand with them throughout this process. >> given the weapons to a third-party the latter being highly unlikely given the nature of this weapon. >> again we stand with our ally and fully support them and are ready if we can be of assistance. >> was the presidents reaction estate to education secretary

7:41 pm
>> another president made it tongue-in-cheek, about president she haven't ruled for quite some time. his administration position is it healthy for the relationships? >> but is it healthy for the administrations perspective in terms of our relationship bilaterally to say a leader in a country that will be there potential indefinitely. >> i cannot say that the president and the present time have a good relationship. a lot of the willingness of china to step up and participate at a far higher level than the have to put maximum pressure north korea has been successful. and has been in large part due to that relationship. the president has said he wants to make sure they don't take
7:42 pm
advantage of us when it comes to trade. will continue to push for what's best for america. >> on the age restriction the president has said his criticize his present the sesser saying yes to show leadership. how can you make an expedient argument. >> that's not what i said. were specifically driving forward on some of those things we know can immediately happen. were determining what the best path forward on the other things that don't have the broad-based support. you can't just decide you want lost a pass. but you can look at the best process to implement that policy statement that's why he laid those things out of his propos

proposal. >> this is why he laid it out in the policies he is put forth that he rolled out. >> 's commissioner divorce going to be the face of school kids and policy. >> i think the president is going to be the leader in school safety. he has been since this process has begun. >> i have one question on guns. >> the president met with students and said specifically he would go strong on the age limit. this proposal does not have him moving forward why is he backing away from that? >> the president still supports this that's why it's in his plan. his looking at and reviewing the best path forward to get it through. he's also making sure the things
7:44 pm
we can do right now we are doing instead of holding everything back to we can get some other pieces to thinks they can be accomplished immediately. were working through the process to see what we can get done. that seems smart and bold leadership to push thrown things that help protect kids will not ignoring policies the president supports. >> county tells more about the trip to california tomorrow, why is he going to see the wall prototypes first this is a state that did not vote for the president. c can have an opportunity to reach out for those who did not for for him? >> i think it's important that the president has talked about, the safety and security of the country and strongly feels the walls a big part of that. he's gonna look at the prototypes. he'll also be speaking to members of the military.

7:46 pm
rid of nuclear weapons. i heard we said earlier about how you believe the meeting will take place, what makes you think that kim jong-un has even mention this to his own people. that anything of substance will come out of it. >> we know the maximum pressure campaign is working and they have responded to to that. there push the message the south koreans to us. we accepted their invitation on the three promises they made. we will move forward in this process. >> denuclearization to is a point of pride. being a nuclear country is being point of pride for north korean. to simply get rid of their own nuclear weapon seems to be something that would undercut what kim jong-un stands for.
7:47 pm
>> i think it shows the effectiveness of the maximum pressure campaign. that's why were not letting up on it and will continue to push forward on. >> following up on what john asked, we know that kim jong-un has been using a special envoy to soul to send messages. has he sent any special messages ten a special envoy to the president. >> i will get ahead of her go beyond any of those things we put out publicly. regarding tomorrow's election in pennsylvania in the 18th district. he's reported in several sources today to a report to republican as a week and said he has run a poor campaign. this seems unusual in light of what he said saturday and he praised him as a friend. did he actually say that?
7:48 pm
>> i cannot weigh in on the specific seven upcoming election. but i can refer you back to public comments he made on saturday. >> is via the president's intent to pick a winning design for the wall? >> he wants to look at the different prototypes. beyond that i don't know. >> this out a government inflicted physical abuse to those held captive at the ritz-carlton hotel. the something the white house will bring up? >> i will get ahead of the conversations that will take place on the 20th. >> on the president during this campaign said nobody knows the system better than me sound like now because of certain things that easily get a push word on
7:49 pm
things -- >> that's not what i said. you continue to misunderstand and misrepresent the comments. the president is a pushing forward on things that we know have broad-based support and we can immediately get done. at the same time were looking at the best way forward to push these other things through. whether it's on a state or federal level. because the president does have to work within the constitution. we can't just write things down and make a law. we have to follow a process. the president will go through the process and determine the path forward on issues outlined that he is supported. >> nunez about the background check is it clear if the president supports that. obviously this proposal -- a

something like that as well as a number of other issues. >> to see remain committed to the?
