for my friends and for many, many people that i love. this ordeal has been designed to cause an incredible amount of strain on my family. millions of dollars of mounting legal bills, endless personal attacks designed to cause maximum damage to family and friends. legal harassment from colleagues, friends, campaign workers and it's clear that for the forces that oppose us there is no end in sight. i cannot allow those forces to continue to cause pain and difficulty to the people that i love. i know and people of good faith no that i'm not perfect but i

he talked about how he is done nothing worthy of this and he will let history judge this process. to be very clear it was not a resignation speech. it was a litigation speech where he continued to assert as he had all along that he is not a criminal and he is a fake them of political machinations. >> host: goingan forth, what happens after friday? is going to take after andd wht happens to the government in place? >> guest: might person will officially be sworn in as the governor of 5 missouri. missouri it's a state where the governor and lieutenant governor run separately but they are both republicans. there are a lot of similar

policies to greitens. there are few significant ones. he's aer former member of the state senate and a former county sheriff's and he is known as somewhat of a consensus builder alleging that the legislature is corrupt and constantly had combative relationship. person is a dealmaker. lawmakers from both parties suspect they are going to have a much better working relationship with person than they did with greitens. in fact the house leader from kansas city said he expects -- . >> host: mr. lowry what is the future of eric greitens look like? what kinds of things could he pursue? is a life in politics or is it a life and business? what is the potential there? >> guest: that's a big question mark there.

we have had them on our staff and i don't know that any of us have a clear answer to that but he is at least going to leave the political stage iv a little while but i would not a surprised if he would come back in the public eye in some fashion. the fact that he at no point in his rig -- resignation speech has admitted fault leaves open the door that he could make a run for something that he may continue to be active in politics. this is a guy that made his esteemed recognition by running a charity that was meant to help veterans get back into the community. that was some of the controversy
6:56 pm
that led to his resignation. we have to see whether he goes back to charitable work or whether he stays in politics in some form. if he had his druthers eric greitens would still be governor. >> host: airports for the "kansas city star" of political reporter joining us to talk about thehe resignation of eric greitens as governor of missouri. mr. lowry thank you for your time. >> guest: thank you pedro, appreciate it.
