deal between conservativeses and moderates in the republican conference. the -- they both conform to president trump's four pillars approach. the more conservative bill is the four pillars plus, and these four pillars are safety net or passive legal status for dreams, construction of president presit trump's proposed possessed -- proposed border wall ask the diversity series to lottery and of course -- visa lottery and what president trump calls chain migration and democrats call family reewan-ification visa. >> do either bill deal with the separation of christian and their parents at the border that's been quite a bit the news lately? >> so yes, that's a fair my new sorry made entitled the newer bill. -- made into it the newer bill. the bill causes 0 what an tend

the seethe.ment agreement. a 1997 court case that put certain standard for when minors could be put in immigration detention and whether minors could be detains with adults and for how long and that sort of thing. and it calls for an to end flores and what that does is you wouldn't separate families -- instead after separating them you detain them together and of course democrats are quite angry about this proposal. >> you have written a bit lately about congressman jeff denim involved in the discharge pet television efforts and how freedom caucus chair mark -- what do you hear from those three about whether they will support either of these two bills that will couple next week? >> so that's -- the deal is still a work in progress, and those are the three key actors in this deal. and they all say that there's

still a lot of two, be done. i sense more support from the moderates than from house freedom caucus, including med doughs, and they've basically said they won't vote for it. so the chances of this bill passing are not great, frankly. >> we talk but the uncertainty of the debate head. the reason is the morning started on friday with president trump telling fox news he wouldn't support the moderate measure, a come of things changes on friday afternoon. president trump's tweets on friday afternoon saying that the democrats are forcing the breakup of families at the border with their horrible and cruel legislative agenda and any innings bill must have full funding for the wall and catch and release, visa lottery and chane and go with merit-based immigration. then your publication, he hail to hill.com on friday afternoon with the headline, from the white house, and their changing of the story, in term

otherwise what the president told fox and friends in that news program on friday morning. the headline, who is walks back rejection on immigration compromise. where does this leave things? are there areas where the president or dem crams and moderate republics can find areas of compromise with the administration? >> well, the one area that they have found compromise is that all parties seem to want a path to legal status for dreamers. what that looks like is -- well it's a matter of debate. there seems to be an agreement on border security, and that is as far as the democrats come. now, the republican mod rads go to the right and we're hearing from moderates is they wanted a bipartisan solution but it's hard to expect a bipartisan bill from a partisan deal.
6:53 pm
if that makes sense. so they are saying -- they are uncomfortable with some of the more stringent parts of enforcement independent this bill, but this is what you expect if you have a g.o.p. only bill. >> actually one quick thought, any appetite on n the senate for taking up either measure. >> that's the big query. senator senator mcconnell doesn't want to, quote, wait kansas waste anymore time on immigration, he spend a weekend and after the senate comes up if there hads has to be ten democratic senators to agree to it. so even if this bill does pass, if this compromise legislation passes, whatever comes out of the senate is likely to lean a little bit more to the left and we'll see if that still passes the president's standards. >> covering the immigration debate on capitol hill is with
