mulvaney saying he wants to see the operation and maintenance but it is pretty clear the places we see the administration send a note they would like to correct it. this bill would purchase two extra combat ships, purchase of the administration saying it is money better spent elsewhere and also talk about reauthorizing the program aircraft surveillance program. the minor scope pretty much in line with what we are looking for. >> reading your previewing the debate next week, militarytimes.com, more troops and aircraft. and what the defense budget, the chair of the appropriations subcommittee, we took the first big steps to rebuilding the

military, this is the second step, the proposed improvement to the military we are seeing in the chairwoman's bill. >> when she said that. what we have heard so much from republicans, talking about pretty healthy increases over fiscal 18 spending, $16 billion and continued strength for soldiers, sailors and airmen. we are seeing a lot of reinvestment that started to get thinner in recent years. a lot goes to the issue of sequestration and budget caps and how much the defense department felt restrained by them in recent years and how much to buy new equipment and procure themselves and a big boost in the f 35, and lawmakers are hoping it will go further, get a deal and around us and continue on this path. >> the lines were provosts and

in terms of what is in the bill but there are 100 amendments filed in the rules committee, two days of floor debate, what are some of the issues focusing on next week's debate. >> the biggest line and biggest debate on the house floor is immigration was we have seen quite a few dealing with restrictions of money being used for national guard operations on the southern border or money that may be connected to housing migrants on military bases or questions whether or not jack officers are assigned to deal with immigration cases so we will see if those amendments are ruled in order or how much the immigration debate skills over and a couple other interesting

issues, democrats pushing for ways to undo the trump administration restrictions on transgender individuals joining the military and the fight with lawmakers and military overselling of 35s to turkey and their latest actions in the us relationship with the country so more tends to restrict equipment sales to them. >> steny hoyer said democrats were set out of the debate creating the bill, how about on the defense spending bill, how to democrats in general feel about it? >> the appropriations subcommittee, the appropriations committee, there was not as much conversation there's a handful of measures they were hoping to add on, the military force fight, the markup of this but hasn't been as polarizing as it has been in years past, that lawmakers have

already agreed on the top line defense spending, part of a budget agreement. what we have seen in past years is a lot of back and forth over what goes to defense and how much goes to non-defense programs in the budget, this year that is settled so not just on this but the defense authorization bill a lot of debate has been muted. >> where is the senate in the process of the defense spending bill? >> a little behind but still trying to move the appropriations bill along and we saw a handful focusing on military construction bill. the whole package related to that which appropriates this military spending too. the goal of lawmakers is to use these more quickly than they have in the past, late into the year or in this year's case sometimes even into the next calendar year. we hear from a lot of lawmakers
