[inaudible conversations] >> secretary of state mike pompeius spoke with reporters outside the white house today about the disappearance of "washington post" columnist jamal khashoggi. >> good morning, everyone. i had a chance to brief the president on the travel and return from last evening. i had a chance to talk with regard with the king, with the crown prince, foreign minister, all of the united state's counterparts there we made clear to them that we take this matter with respect to mr. khashoggi very seriously. they made sure they understand the serious nature of the disappearance of mr. khashoggi.

they assured me they will conduct a complete, thorough investigation of all of the facts surrounding mr. khashoggi and that they will do so in a timely fashion in this report itself will be transparent for everyone to see, as questions about and acquire with respect and i told president trump this morning that we ought to give them a few more days to complete data so that read, to have complete understanding of the facts surrounding that at which point we can make decisions about how worth the united they should respond to the incident surrounding mr. khashoggi. since 1932, where the long strategic relationship with the kingdom of saudi arabia and continue to be an important counterterrorism partner. [inaudible] we need to be mindful of that as well. when i traveled i met with

president erdogan, he talked to me about the incident. he told me they were conducting their own investigation. we have a chance to meet with those involved in that. he told me they would share their results with the saudi's as well. we do believe between these two efforts it will emerge for what is actually trans fired here. we are looking forward to that.
