senators were thoughtful and brief with their questions and the managers and counsel were succinct in their answers. i hope we can follow both of these examples during this time. >> the impeachment trial of president trump wednesday 1 p.m. eastern on c-span2 on demand on c-span.org/mac impeachment or listen on the c-span radio app. hello, everybody. is everybody ready?

i thought this summation by mr. sekulow, the president's lawyer, shows how weak the case was. he said we don't have eyewitness accounts. all we have is a newspaper article. well, mr. sekulow, president trump, we want to get witnesses. you can bring bolton right into the chamber, swear under oath and be cross examined by you. he also kept saying this is a policy choice and he points to the letter of july 25. three words never came out of his mouth that were in that letter. hunter biden crowd strike. so, they just cannot address the issues. the whole argument is a versio diversion and you don't believe the report, call the witnesses. if you don't believe the people

around who said what trump did was wrong and they heard a secondhand or fondling her firsthand, call -- call blair, called duffey. so, the bottom line is very simple. we want the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth. that's what the witnesses and documents needed. the president's lawyers have spent three days avoiding the truth. pointing fingers here, there, everywhere. even one of them gave a political speech on the floor, it was like a campaign rally because they don't want the facts. they don't want the truth. they are afraid of them. i think their case has been extremely weak on one of the most serious things you can accuse a president of doing. which is organizing foreign interference in american elections, threatening a country

intervene. when i was in high school, i read in my textbook but one of the things the founding fathers feared mos most as foreign interference in elections and this was back in the 60s i said what are they talking about, that doesn't happen. once again the founding fathers were a lot smarter than all of us. that is just what they worry about. that is just what trump was doing and let me make another point, if he is allowed to completely stonewall, to give absolute obstruction on everything, and not be held accountable, he will do it again and again in future presidents will do it again and again coming into this grand experiment we call democracy will have been fatally, fatally eroded because when the american loose faith that elections are fair and when americans lose faith that it's america determining who woul who they ee president rather than a foreign

a good number of republicans know two things that hunter biden is a diversion and makes the trial into a circus like the president's lawyers did yesterday and it confirms the fact that president trump is obsessed with hunter biden and willing to risk american security and risk elections and now he is willing to do one of the sacred things the senate can do because he so focused on hunter biden and with those lawyers yesterday. >> first of all this is a manuscript what are they hiding they don't need it and classified and there's no

substitutes speaking under oath to the senators. a classified version of the transcript is just another excuse to hide they are afraid of the truth. >> we have lots of questions i am not censoring anybody they will ask their own questions as they see fit that what we are doing is organizing things we don't want the same question ten times and we want some degree of order. i am sure a good number of the questions will give the house managers time to rebut all the holes in the president's lawyers arguments that they didn't have.

>> so what are the ramifications quick. >> they talk about quid pro quo and policy choices they don't talk about interfering in elections that is one of the most serious things a president can be charged with. it gets to the whole basis and core and root of america if you have a foreign power to interfere with that i cannot think of a more serious charge than that that the founding fathers were more fearful of them that.
