then have their views broadcast for the nation to see. >> host: they captured the tone of the campaign in new hampshire, pressure builds for round two and democratic candidates and voters ramp up alike and they write that susan page writing that the volatilita in new hampshire electorate and the high-stakes of its primary fuel escalation and political and counter attack during a fierce final weekend of campaigning. whatever happens to state the results are likely to clarify the contest, streamlined the field and signal the democratic message ahead. senator levesque as you look to tomorrow what is your sense of how joe biden will do? >> guest: well, i am hoping he comes in in the top four and as i said we have neighboring states candidates that are running and they are well known and well liked. >> host: senator levesque here
2:45 pm
with us till 10:00 o'clock this evening. we go to your calls and commons and hear from barry and montana. independent line, good morning. >> caller: yes, i was calling in regard to your last speaker. where does she get off, don't have a lot of proof about republicans causing problems and i think it was 1700 precincts that when the app did not work and that is what was jamming the phone lines and then they got to blame somebody for their incompetence. this is what i have to say. >> host: is senator levesque, were talking last segment earlier about the problems that happened in iowa and the results just being finalized the weekend and senator sanders challenging those results and how confident are you in the states primary voting system? >> guest: well, i can't speak for iowa. i can speak for new hampshire but we have an excellent system
2:46 pm
that has very few points of entry for any kind of fraud or cheating on our voting for it we do have paper ballots and we do have different types of monitoring in our voting system so i feel that we are prepared for this election but i also have a great concern about media fraud, social media fraud and when the different group portrays themselves to be candidates and mislead our populace similar to what happened with the russians i feel that is a bigger concern to not only new hampshire but to our country and we really have to scrutinize what we are reading. >> host: and you're seen that in the campaign in new hampshire? >> guest: yes, we are seeing it in the campaign, not necessarily this campaign but yeah, we have seen social media fraud.
2:47 pm
>> host: we go to our democrats line, richard in delaware. >> caller: good morning. biden supporter definitely. i can tell you that without a doubt the reason that the republicans are going so hammer and tong on joe biden is because of all their money and all their data searching, data mining. they know that the one guy who can take them out or take turnabout is joe biden and it's the same thing with veterans for truth and the benghazi debacle and its the frontrunner to make sure it runs against someone they know or feel they can beat and it is unfair but with all due respect to new hampshire and iowa when you talk about demographics new hampshire and iowa demographics are aligned with the pga tour. never mind illinois or anyplace else. >> host: richard, let me ask you because you're a delaware
2:48 pm
resident and i'll ask senator levesque as well, how do you think joe biden has come out of all the efforts of the impeachment and the criticisms of joe biden in ukraine and hunter biden how do you think he will come out of this? >> caller: with a target on his back. that is exactly what trump and republicans want but if i was hunter biden and joe biden i would say you know why they wanted hunter biden on their board in ukraine? because the biden name stands for integrity, honesty, professionalism. >> host: senator levesque, your thoughts on how joe biden is fared?thdty >> guest: i think he has a fared well. no matter who the top candidate would be they would have a target on their back and they would be treated the same from our president. i find that joe biden is very credible, honest person, man of integrity and a man who has done
2:49 pm
so much for our country with the national cancer moonshot with helping with the revitalization of our economy when we were in recession with the affordable care act. we have seen what he has done and we really should know better than to believe some of the comments that are made by our president and those trying to stay in his name. >> host: here is dan, clarksville, tennessee, republican line.ll >> caller: yeah, i would like to know why the democrats are defending hunter biden white privilege so much? it is almost fanatical. >> host: we kind of address that, senator levesque, but would you care to respond? >> guest: dan, it is joe biden that is running for president and again he is a very credible man and a good man that has an extensive record of service to
2:50 pm
our country. people tend to look at that more than listen to people saying negative things that may not be true. this falls along the line, as i said, social media. when people make up things about candidates that are not true but we have to look at people's records and look at where theyt have been and what they have done. >> host: coming out of iowa with pete buttigieg being the lead candidate ahead of bernie sanders the biden campaign had an ad or has an ad criticizing the experience of pete buttigieg and i want you to take a listen at it and i will get your thoughts. look. >> barack obama called joe biden spooked the best vice president america ever had. >> let's compare but when president obama called on him joe biden helped lead the passage of the affordable care act which had gave healthcare to
2:51 pm
20 million people. when people called on pete buttigieg he gave citizens of south bend colorfully illuminated rivers. both vice president biden and former mayor buttigieg had taken on tough bytes. under threat of a nuclear iran joe biden helped to negotiate the iran deal and under threat of disappearing pets buttigieg had d later licensing policies been they have both shaped our economy and joe biden helped save the otter industry which revitalize the economy of the midwest and let the passage in the limitation [inaudible] pete buttigieg revitalized the sidewalks of downtown south bend by laying out decorative bricks in both biden and buttigieg have made hard decisions. despite pressure from the nra joe biden past the assault weapon ban through congress and then passed the violence against women act and even when public
2:52 pm
pressure mounted against him former mayor pete fired the f first african-american police chief of south bend and then forced out the african-american fire chief two. we are electing a president. what you have done matters. >> host: senator, that's an ad from they weekend from the biden campaign and is that a fair thing to attack pete buttigieg on with experience versus joe biden's experience? >> guest: i do think it is fair. i think experience is one of the key points here. we are in a critical time in our country and if we don't understand that we need to have somebody who has experience and is getting these things done that we will be, in a bad situation if we can't have a democrat as a president but if we can't bring on somebody who has already known all of the
2:53 pm
leaders in our world stage who can very quickly start attacking climate change and who can work for our healthcare and nothing against pete buttigieg but he is a wonderful man and was a great mayor and we need more than america right now, we need somebody who has the best xpexperience and at this time wy wouldn't we go with someone who has experience and who may choose toos be a vice president who is one of these passionate people that is running for office but we have great civil servants around our country and pairing joe biden with another one of these candidates would be a winning ticket. >> host: one more thing on that ad, pete buttigieg campaign responded from the hill. at this moment the american people are crying out for
2:54 pm
something completely different from the classic washington style of politics that would adjudge national press secretary washington politics generalizes what goes on in communities like south bend. residents now have better jobs, rising income and new life in their city. don't think their lives are washington politicians punchline with back to calls, katrina and virginia. good morning, democrats line. >> caller: hello, did you say katrina. >> host: i did, go ahead. you are on the air. >> caller: hello, i am callinga to make a comment. for one, i absolutely loved joe biden paid my only issue is we've got i think that may be his train of thought sometimes gets deterred and we can hit it with his [inaudible] that doesn't give people confidence that he could compete against trump and his rhetoric. that is my issue with that but overall i think that he does a
2:55 pm
great job and with let me go back, sorry, one of your caller saying that democrats are always trying to blame the republicans on very issues and it definitely happened maybe three times at a tminimum and constantly receivg thatcalls or telling me the vote is over and all kinds of stuff so it definitely happens and i did see that there was an online presence of republican saying to what is it block the phones or clogged up the phone line so they were definitely doing that. pour the republicans i don't believe that you need to do the research because they definitely
2:56 pm
happened and causing the phones. overall, i am a democrat and will be voting for whomever is the nominee and i am for bernie sanders and ii think him and a moderate would do well but overall whomever is on there, i don't care if it's iraq on there, i'm voting and bringing tons of people with me to vote. thank you. >> host: katrina in virginia. melanie levesque, your thoughts. >> guest: my thoughts, thank you very much, katrina for calling in. first of all, we talk about a new page every election. let's get outside of washington. things will not change until we have independent redistricting and until we draw our districts fairly. we could have a democratic president but if we don't have a democratic house and senate or people that are willing to serve
2:57 pm
our country rather than look to their own power and will always be the same. that is why i feel that joe biden would be the person who can help us with the senate and help us keep the house. and then work on redistricting. as far as the way he presents himself, i will be honest with you, i have concerns at the beginning as well and then i heard that he had a stutter and that he overcame and then i looked at him in a totally different way. i understood he was trying to be thoughtful when he spoke in trying to overcome the stutter. many people in our country stutter. he has been able to overcome it with his techniques and has done so much for our country and when you meet with him one-on-one, in had an opportunity to meet with him one-on-one times and have conversation and what i got from him was a man of wisdom and a
2:58 pm
man who was a statesman who believes in decency and rather than poking shots at people he will take the high road but yet, when there is a fight that he needs to fight much like myself, i will fight and he will fight for us. >> host: on our new hampshire line in salem, dave, go ahead. >> caller: hello. just a couple quick comments. i'm never going to be able tond understand trump followers. they all almost to a person seem to believe the conspiracy theory more readily than what is out there as public information but what they see, what they hear and that is one thing that jars me and i think it will make it very difficult for any democratic candidate to gain any
2:59 pm
kind of momentum because there seems to be such a groundswell of accepting that the prescribed story of the republican line as opposed to what they see and what they hear and what they should understand from history. mjoe, i hope joe makes it. he seems like a very solid guy. i'm just afraid the media will tear him up. i will leave it at that and wait for your comments. >> host: senator levesque, any thoughts? >> guest: yes, certainly. first of all,na l. >> we break away from this conversation from today's washington journal as that u.s. senate is about to gavel and to work on more judicial nominations today with the vote to advance a nomination to the 11th circuit. that is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. eastern today and later
