getting a reaction to all of this especially the inaugural address, president joe biden talked about the need for unity in america. >> to overcome these challenges, resole the secure the soul in the future of america requires so much more than words, requires the most elusive of all things in a democracy, unity, unity. in another january, new year's day 1863, abraham lincoln signed the emancipation proclamation. when he put pen to paper the president said, quote, if my name ever goes down in history it will be for this act, and my whole soul is in it. my whole soul is in it. today, on this january day, my
11:21 am
whole soul is in this, bringing america together, uniting our people, uniting our nation, i ask every american to join me in this cause. [applause] >> president joe biden on the west front of the capital, the president's inaugural address about 2500 words long. here's a comparison to recent inaugural addresses, joe biden's 2500 words compared to donald trump's 1400 words in 2017, longer than both president obama's inaugural addresses at 2100 words, it was the longest inaugural address, the longest speech since ronald reagan in 1985. historical knows, william henry harrison had the longest inaugural address in 8400 words, george washington's

11:23 am
>> thank you for asking our opinions on this. it is going to be a wonderful new transition for the country. i feel that joe biden will put us in the right direction. we will learn a lot from the presidency. we will focus on the morale eddie of this country that has to go back 50 years ago, to bring us to a whole country we were back then so we can become a better nation. that i believe is joe biden's promise. and people pay attention to that speech and really want this country to be what he wants which is unified, we will listen to those words, put a part division, start looking at our adversaries as enemies because that happened in the last four years when the prior president did more to divide us than any president in history. we don't want division. we should know better than that. we are going to build that by this president. i believe he wants to do a lot of these things but he is late
11:24 am
in the years of his life. i hope he will be around to get what he wants accomplished without too much partisan opposition but i believe he has the right mindset. he has wanted to do this most of his career which i always felt bad, very unfairly warranted and many people should realize this president did - does lead on the premise of faith. faith is what build this country and he's going to take us where we need to go as long as people let him and if we watch the state of the union addresses we will be better off than we have ever been in our history. >> host: marilyn out of brookpark, ohio. we head to colorado. roof, good morning. >> caller: i am a first time collar, registered republican
11:25 am
and i think i am also in the category of an evangelical. i voted for biden. i couldn't be more pleased that he was elected and he's deserving for all of you evangelicals out there that are upset that biden won i think he is deserving of our prayers and support. he is a president that not only has read the bible, can quote scripture, knows how to pray and started his first day as president worshiping god, that is all i have to say. >> host: how many times have you voted for democrat as a registered republican? >> caller: never. >> host: what was it about this time? >> caller: initially was a vote against trump. i couldn't stand the lying, how
11:26 am
he was not civil he was self-motivated, i felt he was dishonest to both in his private life as well as the presidency. i didn't feel like his motivations were for the country. he was putting country first, he was putting self first. i just really feel he was divisive and i felt the country was being torn apart. i wanted him out of the office but the more i listened to biden and what he has to say, the more i am excited about him being president. >> host: you worried about tearing the country apart,
11:27 am
former president trump facing and impeachment in the senate, we don't know the timing when that will be transmitted to the senate from the house after the impeachment but do you think that impeachment trial whenever it happens glad to tearing the country apart? >> caller: actually know. you have to have a completion, a resolution and we don't have completion and resolution over the insurrection and the country needs to know that there are penalties for what he has done and primarily what i would like to see is that he would not be able to hold public office again. i would like to ensure that happens, that he's not able to hold public office again. >> host: republican in colorado, an independent out of
11:28 am
stoneington, maine. >> caller: the prior ladies were very eloquent in what they said. they said what i wanted to say. i slept good last night knowing that joe and kamala have got things under control, the hand is on the ship's we'll, feels like we are getting our old country back again and this country has been emancipated from the most evil, vile, sadistic, satanic thing that ever walked into the white house in the history of this country, thank god he is gone. i like the idea also i heard on the news this morning the proud boys and youanon are finally seeing trump for what he is, he lied to them like he has lied to the rest of us. maybe this will change their mind and they will come together but the rest of us and work for the good of the
11:29 am
country instead of so much hate and violence and all that. i think a new day is dawning, thank good for that. thank you, goodbye. >> host: before the sun sets on the day yesterday, more than a dozen executive orders signed by the newly installed president biden. among them executive orders that have the united states rejoin the paris climate agreement and doing the muslim ban as it was called, stopping the border wall construction, rejoining the world health organization, requiring masks in federal buildings, freeze on either action and foreclosures through march, extending the student loan parts through september of this year. executive order suspending the keystone xl pipeline just some of the many executive orders signed on the first day of president biden's administration. here's joe biden yesterday
11:30 am
talking about three of those executive orders. >> this is going to be the first of many. i thought this was no time to waste, get to work immediately. as we indicated earlier, we are signing a number of executive orders over the next several days and weeks and i will start today, the compounding crisis of covid-19 along with the economic crisis following that and the climate crisis, racial equity issues, some of the executive actions i am signing will help change the course of the covid-19 crisis, we will combat climate change in a way we haven't done so far. and support underserved communities, rebuild our economy as well. these are starting points. in the process of rebuilding the economy what i said
11:31 am
throughout the campaign and while running, rebuild the backbone of the country, the middle class as we will focus on that and some of the things we will be doing will be bold and there is no time to start like today. when i am going to be doing, today's executive action, i will start by keeping promises i made to the american people. executive actions are important but we will need legislation for a lot of things we are going to do in the first rule i'm going to be signing here relates to covid-19 and it is requiring as i said all along where i have authority mandating mask wearing, social distancing be kept on federal property, interstate commerce etc.. this is the first i will sign.
11:32 am
the second one is the support for underserved communities and to make sure we have better equity, equality as relates to how we treat people in healthcare and other things, giving copies of these. and the third, which i will do while you are all here is a commitment i made to rejoin the paris climate accord as of today. >> mister president -- [inaudible questions] >> the president wrote a very generous. it was private. i won't talk about it until i talk to him but it was generous. >> president biden in the oval
11:33 am
office signing those executive orders. we expect more executive orders to come today. 10 executive orders today. guidance for reopening of schools requiring facemasks at airports, boats and buses and one aimed at using the defense production act to address vaccine and ppe supply shortfalls, one of the ten executive orders we expect today from the biden administration. back to your phone calls getting your reaction to all of yesterday's news. this is marcia in sharon, massachusetts, good morning. >> caller: happy new year. i am calling to say i am very happy and pleased. i don't know if i could have survived another four years if
11:34 am
trump had come into office. i didn't vote for trump but i tried to look above the noise and think maybe there was something redeemable about his actions that he could do but i realized especially after the january 6th devastation that he was just a man that was totally in for himself, didn't care about anybody and it was obvious before but enough of him. i am so grateful that joe biden and kamala harris have a plan, i believe what they say. it seems they are behind what they are saying and very grateful that it is going to be a don of a new day and a better day. just thank you for allowing me on.
11:35 am
>> host: james is in buffalo, kentucky, republican. good morning. dirksen senate office building 0 how are you doing and thank you for taking my phone call. the other day i heard on tv talking about they are going -- does he think -- he didn't -- he talked down to all the trump supporters calling us racists and to me he needs to sit there and be fired himself that he is not following what he is saying, that is pretty sad, ludicrous to think that he is in office but yet he is not setting an example for his own people. it is going to be a rough four years, everybody hanging and we will get through this. >> host: what was an example when you felt talked down to? >> caller: he is calling all
11:36 am
the trump supporters racists like all of a certain he thinks none of us are really racist, we just believe in the american way. from coming in with a socialist agenda and communist agenda, everybody thinks that he is going to be the shining star on the hill but people don't realize how messed up. use. >> host: how would you define the american way? >> caller: the american way is playing hard, working hard, enjoying the fruits of our labor. when you hand out bags of candy it only lasts for so long. he is only going to keep for the most part he is not really even the president. he didn't get illegally. he cheated. i don't even recognize him for
11:37 am
the next four years and most trump supporters won't. why not have an investigation and find out, they are scared of doing that. once they find out how they cheated getting into office. >> host: we showed a story -- a report of donald trump considering forming his own political party, patriot party. would you leave the republican party to join donald trump's patriot party? >> caller: absolutely and i am ready when texas succeeds from the union i'm ready for our state to do the same thing. >> host: james in buffalo, kentucky, good morning. >> caller: good morning good. i want to say thank you to everybody who articulated so eloquently most of the things i would say except the last collar.
11:38 am
unfortunately, i don't want to go down that road but i think the republicans definitely didn't realize what they were getting into and definitely there's a lot of people loyal to trump and not republican. i don't want to go down that way. >> i guess it is still good morning. this week the united states completed the process of transitioning to a new president and i want to congratulate president biden and vice president harris and i want to thank donald trump and vice president pence for their service to this country and the many achievements their administration was able to achieve. in four years we were able to build the greatest american economy we have seen in a generation, strengthen our military, past historic piece deals, se
