harris and her efforts on migration and whether she should go to the border or when that will happen. if you were advising her, where would you tell her she needs to go? >> i tell her to go to del rio because it was eye-opening. we had a a town hall meeting hosted by local officials there and we are able to hear firsthand from people living in the area and how it is affecting them. there businesses, their personal lives and families, their branches and properties and one of the things i now regret, i wish i could have taken a pool, i've been out of office several years now some little rusty on these things but secretary mayorkas has said the border is closed multiple times. i wish i could have asked the town hall meeting folks if they

believe the border was closed. i think i knowed with the unanimous opinion would have been. >> the vice president traveling to guatemala addressing root causes of migration. a news conference on monday about the message to migrants, this is what she had to say. >> i want to possess the goal of our work is help find help at home. at the same time, i want to be clear to folks in this region thinking about making that dangerous trek to the us-mexico border, do not come. do not come. united states will continue to enforce our laws and secure our border.

that is not a very strong belief because it's not happening and i can tell you first hand it's not happening because we saws people had come to the border the very day they were going to be released into the interior and was idea of telling the people of the northern triangle country and elsewhere in the world not to come is something president biden did in an interview with george stephanopoulos in the middle of march and honestly on the first day of the president administration and they issued, the department of homeland security issued that notice remain in mexico policy, they had on the same announcement, for people not to come to the southwest border to try to cross illegally because the immigration bill the president would send to capitol hill would not cover them so they will not

another part, the folks del rio talking about, i served in the house of representatives from indiana and what's happening in del rio is a transient situation, the one ngo i mentioned thatie there does not have capacity authorization and overnight accommodations for the people they serve so coming in through del rio quickly and they are coming into the country, the volunteers who talked to us from the coalition said they are going to florida, utah, indiana, know i was probably from indiana but indiana and all over the country so what begins on the border doesn't end up on the border, is coming to the rest of the country and that's why we need for policy at the bordere .

dissertation on what was going to happen, all of this we knew and texas public policy foundation after the election november 2020, basically working joe biden doing what he said he would do during the campaign and we predicted this at the border so it's not really news, it's newsworthy as it is today but what's happening is not news as such. i will address a troubling aspect of our visit to the border and that was the sheriff mentioned in 2020, they unfortunately pulled three or four individuals from the water drowned as a result of trying to cross illegally.

this year they've already taken nine individuals out of various bodies of water and tried to cross including a woman expecting twins and the sheriff said they claim all three tools in their statistics which is appropriate so this lack of a policy, these factors growing hundreds of thousands and likely will be millions by the end of the calendar year to the border, causingg widespread catastrophe upon immunity in various aspects of this endeavor and i hope the biden administration will take another look at policy. >> talked about your trip to del rio several times, but on the
