g thanks for joining us. let's start with what exactly is the historic survey of presidential leadership? >> the historian project started in a series called american president presence where we did an in-depth program for a year on each of the presidents and their wives and their administrations. it had a lot of great reviews that we wanted to continue that program for there is a high interest so we decided to come up with a historian serviceware rip reached out to you historians and professionals who served presidents from around the country and ask them to rate the presidents and 10 leadership characteristics using a one to 10 scale so please characteristics are public persuasion, crisis leadership, economic management, moral authority, international relations, administrative skills, relations with congress,

vision and agenda, pursued equal justice for all and performance within the context of the times and that we have a ranking of all the presents within each of those 10 leadership characteristics and an overall ranking. i think it's important to note that is not a scientific survey. while the characteristics have remained the same that participants have change.: tell us how often they conduct the survey. just one gest this is their fourth7, survey in 2021 anytimee have had increased participation from the historians both in terms of the sheer number and diverse viewpoints in this year we had 142 different historians in the presidency participate. >> host: what is the goal of the survey and why do we conducted? >> guest: a few things. we understand it takes time once

a presence has left office but we do conduct the survey soon after the administration but we have a benchmark that we have a window into what they are seeking soon after the administration and send after we conduct the surveys we see what change has happened and we understand is a high interest in presidential history and it's a way to start a conversation and get people talking about it get them thinking about those individual leadership characteristics and think about the president said you think did a good job and see how you would rank them in no specific characteristics. >> host: when we look at this and outgoing -- where does president donald trump ranked? >> this is donald trump's first survey and they ranked him as number 41 overall. you can see where he ranked and

all of the 10 different leadership characteristics here. hise. highest ones coming in public persuasion and economic management. >> if that's the case for donald trump with the about recent presidents and where do they fall in survey? >> guest: the presence that it made their debut soon after their administrations are president clinton and he came in at number 21 and has moved up to number 19 in the fourth survey and george bush in 2009 he came in at number 36 and he is moved up seven points to number 29 this year in 2021. president obama has come in the top 10 for the first time right at number 10 up two spots from his debut year, four years ago and then you see donald trump again coming in at number 41. >> host: the survey has a lot of continent of people are just inviting more than we've been able to share work where can
