continues. host: >> a conversation with the organizer of tomorrow's justice rally taking place on the east end of the national mall at the foot of capitol hill also the executive director of the group look ahead america. who are the people you don't believe have gotten justice related to january 6 quick. >> before i answer question want to clarify there has been a lot of misinformation about this rally i want to make clear from the very beginning when we began the advocacy we have condemned all violence we think anybody that committed violence against police officers or destroyed property on january 6 at the capital building should be given a speedy trial is guilty convicted and locked up our advocacy is the vast majority that were arrested who are not
10:49 pm
charged with committing violence and not charged with destruction of property. and historically these individuals who engage in this behavior have been given aen slap on the wrist and aoc storm the speaker's office had ascended interfere with government business at worse they were arrested release for the 40-dollar fine and when the senate offices were stormed in the kavanaugh hearings were interrupted they were given a 35 or $50 fine and released there is a big disparity between the way they are treated in these people despite engaging in same behavior facing the same charges is not about what they did but whatit they believe and that's it makes them political prisoners. i hope that answers your questions but i also want to corrupt we are completely anti- by violence we had to protest already we condemn violence in all forms we look
10:50 pm
forward to having a safe and peaceful expression of first amendment rights at the us capital. >> what is the program tomorrow? >> america first we will start with the pledge and the prayer i willos be speaking in my cohost started a similar organization and they will narrate the event family members have been victimized to aspiring congressional candidates mike collins i will speak a little bit and sing some songs. host: what time is the rally over with the goal quick. >> we want to put a spotlight on the mistreatment of these individuals and encourage federal legislators to demand that the department of justice to deliver real justice to. these people so in many cases dropping charges or at least arguing for these folks that have been in solitary confinement for nine months without a conviction for
10:51 pm
access to family or medical care no conviction in prison for nine months, solitary confinement without the opportunity for bail at the very least they should be allowed to go back home and exist under home arrest. host: how many people you talking about? should they all be released is there anyone that you think is a threat that shouldn't be released? >> were talking very broadly almost 700 individuals the vast majority are not currently held but also not charged with any violence many are put on home arrest awaiting trial but then we believe they are political prisoners as well we have the most active in current database with everyone a has t been arrested and of those there is a significant number
10:52 pm
are not charged with any violence at all. one guy is held because of the threat of interstate commerce but there are many people who have been accused of violence that day and had been released under house arrest with the same violent charges of those being held. all are proven innocent until proven guilty. you know there is evidence to engage in something violent they do believe have do deserve their day in court charged with conspiracy or interstate commerce and then to be held in solitary confinement that is completely immoral they should be released orst granted bail. host: your rally is getting allied of attention here in dc what you say to those critics who calll this rally in the attempt to whitewash the
10:53 pm
violence of january 6 quick. >> we condemn the violence everybody who engaged shouldhi be arrested the government is sitting at 14000 hours of video of that day should release all the video. these individuals could be held accountable. we are completely on the opposite side of violence we are a peaceful organization we had to events with no incident most would agree with you here our cause i don't think there's anybody who thinks the police department who kills the unarmed citizen should clear itself of that killing. imagine of the minneapolis police department cleared derek chauvin and said we look at it no problem nobody acted appropriately but that is what is happening to ashley babbitt we are seniors a public inquiry and investigation to determine if that was legitimate use of force we have not had that.
10:54 pm
it is wrong for a police department to kill itself on —- to clear itself in the killing of a citizen there needs to be n third-party oversight. that is what we are advocating for. and should not being in solitary confinement for nine months with the up the opportunity for bail not even convicted the more peoplee learn about this they are on our side is not a partisan issue is not about the election it doesn't matter what your party is this is a civil rights battle and whatwh we are standing up for. host: the organizer of the justice for jay six on the east end of the national mall and taking phone calls this morning for another 15 or 20 minutes phone lines for democrats folks are calling in
10:55 pm
we are america first committee organizers to change over policy at the state level and for justice for jay six the left is dominated communityco organizing most think barack obama and so how is this community organizer will run for president? that was a grave mistake on our part we have to recognize that is a powerful tool and that is where america comes in. >> we are leading on this front whether a local battle against crt or a state battle for voter integrity on behalf of these political prisoners. host: you work for the trump campaign at one point quick. >> rector of data and strategy
10:56 pm
in 2015 and 2016. community organizing in 1994 against the clinton health care plan with hundreds of elections and nonprofit groups i started this group 2017 it failed and didn't get any attention we launch january of this year and i think we had our stride we have leadership in 40 states 2500 we are growing rapidly 17 rallies across the country all of this is paid for by donations that are very small we'll have any big donors it's all paid for by grassroots by making small contributions.
10:57 pm
host: is this your full-time job? >> partially i worked to help as a general consultant for candidates i work for a nonprofit full-time and paid a very small salary that is 60000 which is tough to live on my work as a general consultant qassem soleimani or how much do you make from this group. >> 60000 spirit that is public information that's on the 990 we have to release that publicly we are getting the c3 status reestablish with the irs. >> . >> i believe he's talking about outside both sides of his mouth that january 6 was peaceful and then said look at the video and it shows a bunch
10:58 pm
of violence that police were being beaten by trump supporters using the american flag and fire extinguishers and bats and it is wrong of him to characterize the onjanuary 6 insurrectionist as peaceful when you can see the video you are showing right now shows how they were violent. >> marine, i can tell you there were bad actors on january 6 we are in agreement those people belong in prison for a long time but you believe somebody who never laid a finger on a police officer, walked through an open door took a few pictures and walked out of the building should be in solitary confinement without conviction for nine months? >> . >> come on. have some moral clarity.
10:59 pm
>>caller: but what is important is intent. we understand what was the intent of those people at the capital that day you cannot say people that marched around and got in the way of the other police departments trying to get rid of the violent ones are innocent. >> you did say you didn't know details of the case i gave you a very realistic scenario that actually happened you sayet you know the intent of these people that is an expression of the first amendment rights i'm not saying they are supposed to be in the building i agree it is trust passing but that is naïveté on their part is clear when you talk to them and interview them they walked around and they stood there they didn't destroy those that did should be imprisoned they take some pictures, they got
11:00 pm
us selfie with the capital police officer and they walk out. do you really think not even convicted should they be in ulsolitary confinement for nine months and how their lives destroyed those who stormed the speaker's office were domestic terrorist with a insurrectionist? >> ultimately this has more to do withnd equal protection under the law and those that are at the protest this is what motivated me and those being set on fire those were to destroy the system i cannot speak very person that was
11:01 pm
there those informants and those that were behind the scenes i guess the memo was ten days or two weeks ago to opsay that 195 percent in the prosecution from the recollection of that. the person that just called so who goes to the insurrection without again? and that there is no place in the country where an unarmed person can be shot by anyone in authority without having an investigation. >> we got your point. >> at president trumps inauguration over 200 and t5
11:02 pm
activist were arrested and threatening to commit interstate commerce that real violence for assaultingor police officers and assaulting individuals over 200 had all charges dropped do not have their faces put up on billboards and the fbi come to their home and arrested her lose their savings et cetera. this is really about equal treatment and fairness under the law and to be persecuted for what they believe. in the big problem we have here ii get it they hate donald trump. i get it but that doesn't mean you have to hate us and our fight for justice. they are two different things. that hatred is blinding many peopletr to that great injustice
11:03 pm
against a fellow government you have to a agree with those without the election was stolen we have to agree they need to be treated fairly they cannot be punished because of what they believe that is unfair and eventually that comes back around. host: talk about former president trump earlier we spoke with the local reporter trackingat these cases and those reasons to keep these people in jail and this is an interview with him earlier this week. >> the former president's words made life more difficult a lot of them are being held in jail pretrial pending trial
11:04 pm
and like many defendants they tried to get themselves nobody wants to be in jail and they have seen judges specifically say the continuing denial of legitimacy makes people potentially more dangerous too the community those in holding and then poking a stick at that as well to say donald trump and the continued denial the baseless things of the election potentially makes these defendants were dangerous. >> so despite the fact have
11:05 pm
not been convicted and still innocent you cannot be released on home arrest or given bail? >> and those going into the courtroom that multiple capital police officers were murdered that day is a falsehood so this is a travesty of justice and why you need an organization like s and patriots showing up to the capital building ngadvocating for this and then speedy trials to find an innocent moving forward presenting evidence like they should we wouldn't need to do this i don't have to do this primarily a voter registration organization that we have o to step up and do it because the judicial system is broken we need our legislators to fix it and that's why we are raising our voices. >> athens georgia go ahead. >>caller: good morning.
11:06 pm
how much do i love c-span? and that is not successful for the american people. and with that cohesion to the united states we have the ability to pursue her happiness i will talk to you in 30 days. >> a great political leader once said women to discover
11:07 pm
loyalty tor each other that is the heart of the mission we try to bring people together on behalf of community organizing that welcomes all americans to join and i encourage the listener for where they attended so why this rally on september 18 is getting so much criticism because for many in the political leadership it is far more threatening than what happened on january 6 because of people feel desperate they are manipulated and inherently evil engaging in violence they just send the fbi and throw them away but then with a large peaceful group is not so easy to deal with that you have to confront the message our message is one that is winning because we know of survey research that they are
11:08 pm
holding political prisoners even 45 percent of democrats agree with as i have seen internal polling that shows the same things so well organized america first expression of our first amendment rights you cannot just pick the fbi and to smear us: as violent is threatening. >> democratic line good smorning. >>caller: on constitution day i'm exposed to an argument where facts are not being used. this gentle man is worried about being held in jail or prison for long periods of time.
11:09 pm
that he use the term inherently evil to say some of the people that participated or alluding too the fact those that participated january 6 might have been inherently evil. he tries to use a moral compass not only with a have been thrown out of school that arrested for such behavior how many of those people are arrested i just signed an argument and the travesty of a moral position when it was an insurrection in people that committed violence if someone has committed violence within the system, a mass murderer or serial killer, they are
11:10 pm
not released before trial they are not given homebound so they are to justify that with political prisoners think of the boston tea party they don't tea into a river. >> and they broke into a ship enter into the river that is far worse than what many of the people who have been arrested i am not even saying those that are being brought against them with no violent
11:11 pm
charges at all you can say that's not true but those are straight from the department of justice with the largest database so there are people being held in solitary confinement who do far less than at the boston tea party which is okay with the collars. host: and with the abc news story so some individuals that are opposed to the justice for jay six rally may seek to engage with indication of a specific or credible plot associated with the event.
11:12 pm
and those that are aware of recent online threats so those that can mobilize the violence with little to no warning with response to encounters with perceived opponents by key influencers with communication platforms by those seeking so to disrupt potential plotting. >> you can't have a rally or a peaceful protest we have been working on a daily basis with capital police we have worked
11:13 pm
to put on to successful rally so far in the district with no incident we will continue that we have a large diplomatic security force with those people that you work with on a daily basis we have plans to keep everybody safe so they are lived in with that capital police department and many are ex- cops. >> are they armed quick. >> not to my knowledge so when you have your colleagues in different media outlets they need security. we want to keep all of our people safe. i believe it's ourve responsibility to keep attendees safe and asking when people if we see anything at all suspicious we all have
11:14 pm
television studios right here in our pocket with it out and start recording the capital places done a good job to coordinate despite the leadership in doing this a peaceful and safe rally. so the whole purpose is to show people the first amendment still matters community organizing can be done successfully and you don't have to resort to apathy or even violence. host: independent good morning. >>caller: good morning i see right through you i voted for donald trump in 2016 like a lot of other americans did but
11:15 pm
what he did i january 6 was dead wrong but i thousands finance addition and the law for treason and sedition and nation be shot and those who support treason and sedition they should be immediately locked up. >> that's interesting accusation you did accuse me to be a phony but you didn't provide any evidence of that. i can assure you i'm very legitimate do you think aoc should be shot for leading the speaker's office? but he stole listening and so
11:16 pm
can the audience. it is asinine we condemn political violence and that what happened on january 6th i will say that all day long. but many people that were there were not engaged in had no connection to anybody engage they were at the wrong place at the wrong time. there was a protest that blockaded the white house i understand many people are blinded by their hatred toward that blind you to the injustice of the government it is immoral and unconstitutionalra. >> the republican good morning from illinois. >> mostly i get to talk to a little bit and will not cut me
11:17 pm
off but he probably will while you are speaking he is showing clips of the worst of the worst of january 6 he is not showing you clips where the officers invited them so the t whole thing was set up with the people so there was one young black guy in front of the white house on a platform standing with the megaphone pulling president trump out of the white house by their hair and they destroyed all that property and put the church on fire that this same man on capitol hill january 6 standing next to the white
11:18 pm
woman that was murdered and then in another cable channel at night each paid him $30000 apiece to be there. >> i agree. i agree with you color. this footage needs to be released but it is pretty disingenuous very on c-span like to be showing violence's continuously live in speaking but not showing the video engaging with friendly police but i have to say that is fairly disingenuous of you. >> it hasn't been running continuously but the question on the footage what is in the footage this is a topic other collars have brought up that you want released what is in
11:19 pm
their? and not to be a personal that you aret a journalist. right? i believe that you aren't is a nobody 14000 hours of videotape is being held back by the federal government? in any other? case how is that not causing journalist have widespreadal heartburn or anger you cannot even fully at the police department of capital police anybody else you could file the freedom of information act thehe real question is we deserve to see that footage and in many cases it is useful for the difference of those who have been charged but the federal government is still not releasing that for those that depend on that to defend themselves in court. the demand for transparency should insisted be released. >> the rally is at noon i encourage people to get there
11:20 pm
early wheel having out of there in an hour. host: executive director of lookahead america a rally organizer justice for jay six tomorrow capitol hill the appreciate your time. >> thank you for having me.
