tv   Senate Party Lunches  CSPAN  November 2, 2021 2:01pm-2:16pm EDT

2:01 pm
we worked the federal bureau of investigation to ensure the security of the nation and the cefinal thing, we provide suppot to all bats commanders or not you are deployed at all, europe or pacific, if you need support, it's going to come from u.s. cyber command. that is my cyber command side. let me talk. about the national cyber security. we were from a startup but organization from a clear spread around the world. our focus is two-part. we do foreign intelligence. outside the united states. where focused on a wire or an e-mail, transitioning in cyberspace and adversaries, we are trying obviously to gain insight. second piece is cybersecurity this is part of a mission not well known about and as i put it
2:02 pm
in that piece, we do two very important things. first, we do all of the code making. >> we are going to leave this here you can watch the rest on c-span.orc. live now to capitol hill.
2:03 pm
the earlier voting rights bill three party considered and rejected. clearly they want to change the subject how the mi can scale in the reckless tax spending bill in nonexisting problem. with this merging out and voting rights. i repeat, supreme court did not strike down the voting rights act, so on the books, no evidence right now in the country that states are engaged in suppressing the vote based upon race.
2:04 pm
>> the biden administration is overseeing the worst border crisis in america's history. before it's all said and done, there will be over 2 million people who will come into this country illegally. now to make matters worse, the administration is considering paying people who are here illegally and are suing this country $4,150,000 a person to come into the united states and if you add that up, families, multiple families over $1 million real fast for people who are here in this country illegally. if you think about it, pat six and a half times the median average income in this country, it's four and a half times what paid to the families of people who have lost soldiers in
2:05 pm
combat. it's more than most of the families and 9/11 received from the government. this is an insult to the hard-working taxpayers in this country. the biden administration's idea, there isn't a date that goes by around here where there isn't a horrible idea that comes out and we've been dealing with that on a daily basis for several weeks but this is an idea that's got to be done away with. american people are not going to tolerate people who work hard to take care of their families having their government pay for $50000 a person to people who come here illegally. this needs to be stopped in its tracks and hopefully the administration will come to its senses and see that it is. >> the biden administration is clearly out of step with the american people, everyone here has seen the national polling
2:06 pm
numbers that show only 22% of americans believe the country is headed in the right direction. the america people know what their concerns are, they are very different from misguided session of the biden administration. the american people are worried about it in inflation and taking a bite out of their paycheck every week so there dollars don't go as far. is that the biden administration want to raise trillions of dollars in taxes and trillions of dollars in spending. the american people are concerned about the fact they go to fill up for a tank of gas costing $35 month than it did when joe biden came into office. joe biden is over in scotland apologizing for america wanting to raise the cost of american energy. the american people want this flood of illegal immigration going out the border, the southern border to stop. the administration wants to pay
2:07 pm
for $50000 to people who came here illegally which is foreign a half times as much as they pay to a family like that of riley, the soldier from wyoming killed in afghanistan along with a total of 13 soldiers at the end of the fall of afghanistan. this administration must think american public love the irs because the administration wants to pay an additional $80 billion to the internal revenue service, they want to supersize the irs and then they supersized irs will do more squeezing of the american people for the taxpayer dollars. american people have lost confidence in this administration they don't believe the president or this administration is up to the job. >> on the border is pointed out, the administration managed to bring attention back to their failures at the border by
2:08 pm
talking about outrageous settlement numbers. the context at the border in the first nine months have been five times as high as they were during the trump administration in the year when the trump administration was most challenged of the border, one and a half million encounters already this year. functional seizures are up about two and a half times what they were in 2020 on a monthly average. from day one when the administration decided we are going to stop building the wall, not even going to replace the wall, it's temporarily down while a barrier was being built to replace it, we are going to stop all about, more than one place along the border where essentially the big gaps in what had been previous border barriers have become a funnel
2:09 pm
that both people and illegal substances are coming through this is a prices even though november 19, nominated head of customs service refused to say it's a crisis, americans know it's a crisis, drawing attention to it is a good thing for looking at the problem. it's a bad thing for the biden administration people begin to look at this problem and a number of others. >> every year for the past 60 years, this congress passed national defense authorization act. we have not seen and daa brought forward on the floor of the senate. the senate armed service committee passed our version of the bill three months ago.
2:10 pm
one of the most important legislative items we are responsible for, and our nation is responsible for, provide for men and women in uniform and our nations defense. yet this administration and leader schumer are advocating our authority. let's take a look around the globe at what's going on. china is testing hypersonic missiles. russia is exerting pressure on ukraine. iran is exerting influence across the region as is north korea in their region. the taliban now has control of afghanistan providing safe harbor for terrorist organizations and our southern border is wide open, folks.
2:11 pm
who is providing for our national security? how will we get that done if we are not able to get the nda over the finish line? i am calling on leader schumer to set aside for time instead of doing all of these low-level nominations, let's make sure our federal government is providing the authority necessary for our military, our men and women in uniform to attacked our nation. >> today we have an important election in virginia. i am very hopeful when youngkin race. what they are going to merge my is american republicans are fed up with the biden agenda. set up with open borders, set up with amnesty, fed up with school teaching critical race theory,
2:12 pm
built afghanistan withdrawal, fed up with high gas prices and food prices, defendant police. i think this will be the first of many elections for the american public will say we are sick and tired of the biden agenda. [inaudible] obviously there would probably have to be changes so what will it take to try -- [inaudible] >> i think we all know there are two democratic senators who will be able to write this bill. joe manchin and kyrsten sinema will determine what the bill looks like. there is a process for amendments and you can ensure we
2:13 pm
will have a robust amendment process during the photo, but i think we all know, the house knows as well they are going to write the bill. then i would observe challenging exercise for them, i'm glad it is. this is a bill america does not want and does not need. the ideal solution would be to not pass it but if it is to pass, it will be written by mansion and/or cinema. yes? >> one of the most popular polling mind for the pay family leave, it doesn't seemed like i will be in the final version, is there any version of a paid family leave proposal for publican senators would support or you would support should it come up down the line? >> if i were the majority leader and we are setting the agenda,
2:14 pm
that would be a discussion to have but we are not setting the agenda, we are reacting to what they are proposing and that seems to be challenging for them as well. [inaudible] >> with your mask on, i'm having a hard time hearing. >> the way the bill stands today, how would you -- [inaudible] >> i dunno, i don't have a clue. many of the democrats, they are not sure what it looks like either. what seems to me, if the house passes the reckless taxing and spending bill, that will be the final word. whatever it can get out of the senate, if anything can, i'm still hopeful that it can, it will probably be the final bill.
2:15 pm
[background noises] [background noises] >> we are breaking away from this program to go live to the u.s. senate and keep over for your commitment to bring you live coverage of congress. the senate about to gavel back in following recess for the weekly party caucus munches. senators considering a handful of executive nominations throughout the day. live coverage of the u.s. senate here on c-span2. favorably from the environment and public works committee 12-8. yesterday i received an interesting letter from a bipartisro
