asked for - we want to make sure that we had assurances that all the work that we have been doing for months and months is actually going to happen to the senate and the president gave us those assurances and we are set to go barring any other problems within the democratic side. >> what it that when he came to the infrastructure and social opened entrance spinning on infrastructure. >> infrastructure game up-to-date. >> would you vote for the progressive caucus is that ready to vote for that pretty. >> these of the process rather than a product we now have a product to weep entrance that we should be talk about what is in there as a important part but we are ready to go with both bills as we've always said, but until friday, we did it or thursday maybe it was, in all players a little bit but we didn't even have the final text and even now, yesterday there's still some final negotiations going on to get more to the american people but i think we are at that point that also the ready to go through the house and hopefully the senate can take up
10:12 pm
the second bill quickly. i think the storm before the calm, will soon be forgotten and then we will be able to hopefully have a fraction of us much time into the fact that $3m american families will receive a tax cut because ofhi this legislation it and reckon families will save lots of money including a few things like childcare and pre-k and senior carek, another areas. the fact that we will create many many jobs, feelings of jobs for the protection of the original version including tackling climate change and is paid for, like unlike kevin and the last administered tax customer for the wealthiest is actually paid for by the wealthy my corporations partly figured out how to not pay taxes of the good news is that i think that we have a real product here and i hope we spent as much time in the future the benefits of the market people going to see but it took a while to get here but i think were here printed. >> when you say they will be at

taxco for 40 million people, how so credit. >> the families not just people but the families the child tax credit. which we passed through covid-19 and we are spending into the future with the build back better agenda this is what gives the people 250 - three or dollars per child this is really transformational with half the children the country that is really important measurement. if you look at these two bills, this is probably the most transformative legislation that you have seen it and probably since neck and duchess going to help american families in a substantive way big problems are the debate is what day will you put on something and didn't get elected to congress to vote a certain david to get things done and now it was like we have the final passage and i think that tax incentive that will affect 40 million american families will be a big part of the
10:14 pm
benefit. >> will we see it this week rated. >> i hope some will have a caucus in a few minutes and will have a better idea and we have indicated we are ready to go, all of the things we had asked for, the assurances they came from the president, about the senate are all there braided the negotiating now has been finalized or close to like one item it is so other and we are y to go and i hope that it can coe up this week. >> mansion urges far left democrats to stop holding info structure hostage and here is what senator manchin had to say yesterday printed. >> will i worked hard to find the compromise and it's obvious the compromise is not good enough for a lot of my colleagues in congress. it is all or nothing in the position does not seem tool chae unless we agree to everything and enough is enough. it is time our elected leaders in washington, stop playing games the needs of the american
10:15 pm
people and hold the a critical infrastructure built hostage while there is opportunity and reconciliation bill that we can all agree on. we have been talking about this for months and again to be clear, i will not support the reconciliation legislation without knowing how the bill will impact our debt and economr and our country we won't know that until we work through this prayed for the sake of our country, i again and i am urginu all of my colleagues in the house to vote and pass the bipartisan infrastructure built, it is bipartisan, 69 those, we worked on that for many many months and as i've said before holding that the hostages not going to work to get my support of what you want is what we should all agree on and work through the process of them open to supporting a final bill that helps move our country forward. butmo meekly opening open to bui guess if it hurts our country have been very clear about that as well. >> that was senator manchin,
10:16 pm
mark, we did you think of him pretty. >> will first ofnk all, i like that watch what i do not want the same for weeks, since we have held up the bill, since the first building infrastructure built we have now gotten movement through 1.85 truly know the level provided american people with attacks considered with lower cost or childcare the measures pretty jobs, all of the things he talked about braided only because of what we have done so and we know that we are one third of what the president wanted $6 trillion to begin with and we still committed to that agenda read to joe manchin was part of all those conversations since we held out a few weeks ago soek i think that the good news is that we will have some real deliverables to have you working people that's what matters at the end of the day. and he can say what he wants you and i guess for whatever audience he's delivering that but the actions are what i'mng watching and seeing his credit, negotiate in good faith the last few weeks to the effect that we have a pillow that will pass the house and senate printed
10:17 pm
somewhere to watch the actionsus because that speaks wait louder than words and special in washington confident based on every conversations that we hadn that we will get this done. >> representing from madison wisconsin, annas with her and is a former chairhe of the congressional progressive caucus and he serves on the appropriations committee as well in the first column for him as jerry and chester democrat line. >> good morning everybody, how are you doing. congressman, after what joe manchin saidsa yesterday, and wt was stripped out of the bill, took out the negotiation for drug crisis, the dental, and the eyecare part and all of the other stuff they stripped out the paid family leave from 12 - four weeks and now it is nothing. and that is with this build back better bill is now, a shelf of a former self.
10:18 pm
why on earth would you vote for a bipartisan infrastructure bill which is a giveaway to the wall street and hedge fund managersun and to gain our utility for this bill now that we have.gr thank you rated. >> you first of all you need to news sources or penalty that, there's nothing here for the hedge fund managers wall streett and all that bs that you just started there, what i can tell you though is i can imagine why he would not be for the good things that are in the bill. are you not for childcare for the market people so that nobody pays more than 7 percent southern comfort childcare, that is a game changer for many families. that will give them fiveli or $10000 a year just in childcare costs are not going to tax child tax cuts this going to provide 40 million american families and tax cuts instead of those big banks that you just talked about, it helps real people want
10:19 pm
to make sure that we get thatt also helps with have the children in this countryry out f poverty and that's a good thing this will also does expand medicare that people would have additional coverage is pretty you what thel additional, healthcare company has half a trillion dollars for climate change braided and that will help us to reverse what is happened to the planet and i can keep talking about all of the things and here's another thing you going to vote or i should say against it, it doesn't make any sense jerry, i'm sorry and i strongly disagree with you and i don't think you understand what's in the bill in front of the president has committed to his full agenda that was in the original 6 trillion-dollar package and he said throughout his presidency hehe will contine to work on these things. m i think we'll get more of those things that may have dropped off now but just because we didn't get every toy under the tree doesn't mean i return all the toys it doesn't make a lot of sense and i hope you find a new news sources that will maybe explain was in the building think you'll have a different
10:20 pm
opinion. >> hi bill, another democrat predict. >> hi, how are you doing pretty the fellow on the floor just mentioned which i am calling bad as well as the fact that i am on medicare, and i'm supposed to be put in there where we would get coverage for dental, and eyeglasses. now i have to have some dental work done and is going to cost me over $1000 and partially i do not have $1000 to do this. now why did they take that out. >> i completely agree with you and the president agrees with you to understand medicare includes dental vision and hearing outside right now, maybe not hearing but ino do think the is still an extra step can happen in the next day as were trying to hopefully plan tog ve on this but there's no question those are all h healthcare and they were not included in medicare originally because of special-interest this townnt rit now not continuing to go forward because again special interest in this town had there is question a problem.
10:21 pm
i personally support medicare for all, would like to make sure that everyone has access to health insurance in thisev couny but i think that even starting shows that things were not included originally in medicare and that is positive and that is a senior including my 92 -year-old mother probably needs hearing aid now, how much of a game changer it would be to have that. >> sandy in indiana, independent line, you're on with representative mark from wisconsin. >> hello mark brady just so that you know, i am 75 years old as of yesterday. and i am sick and tired of hearing the democrats compared this to us be our fdr he had the full support of both democrats and republicans. they have input and what was in the bill and it wasn't anything
10:22 pm
like with the democrats are trying to do to america. it is an insult to fdr and absolute insult to both his memory and anyone my age that is limited number of years, that i have and can honestly say this is the most absolute going toward communism in america bills that you people could ever ever put forth. >> your political rhetoric is broken down so first of all, even difference if you are right in one thing and fdr get a big much bigger majority do you think that is supposed to zero margin 50/50 in the senate and house and so there is a difference and maybe that's why it looks different but then on top of you saying that please don't say anything badad about r
10:23 pm
you said this is going toward communism which is ridiculous on multiple levels however, i think i will use this to say that this bill really is making sure that american families putting in a benefit from the federal government in the last administration i think that you nksupported donald trump administration that only big thing that he did was a giant text at work in 6 percent of the money went to the top 1 percent of the many trillions of trillions in debt in this bill is actual paid for by having the wealthiest and those corporations that often don'tth pay taxes paying their fair share. so i understand the people who watch fox don't actually get the newsom they get talking points and actually get multiple ones and they might mix but i disagree with multiple of your conflicting's. >> next call comes from sally in massachusetts on a democrat line. >> representative, you're one of my favorite members of congress
10:24 pm
and i was just wondering can you tell me about how the progressives are planning to get the presidents dashed on this y week pretty. >> forceful thank you, that is very kindt, of you and we are doing just that we're doing now talking about were ready to vote on that and let's do it and i think the progressive caucus and most of the person would do that and i think that maybe a littlea hold up from some other members right now were hoping we can get through all of that but you know the present team last week and the culmination of a few weeks of effort because holding out at a time when they pass one bill that would've not been the rest of the agenda and because of what i think what happened and i hope still this way, we will now have something that is really a game changer for the average american family.y. they work hard every day and just wants to get by especially if you have kids, this week transformative and allowing you to have even more opportunityou for your families braided home with you and hope it happensk.
10:25 pm
this week and we are trying very very hard to get that done and hopefully have a better idea that if we can get a calendar for the week and i think that all of these efforts have led us to a better field and something that really will benefit people for a long long time. >> congressman, we start first are the washington journal talking about police funding. where you stand and what is your view of the madison police department pretty. >> i'll be glad to talk about this one out that i think that there has been much debate about police funding and people really want to do and what we learned in the last couple of years especially is that you can't have a one-size-fits-allwh operation. i think what we have learned gincluding from talking to law enforcement of people in social services that many times sending a social worker to a situation to de-escalate rather than police and-e for that goes i'm t going to speak if people want to do that so i think what we are
10:26 pm
learning is that there are smarter ways to handle that is that if you put so much of the police, without providing maybe extra training are the experiences, that's not make o sense. i know probably from the last person you have, that's a subject i like to talk about that right now i want to talk about his with the americanan people really really is if we get this bill done. i can't tell you how important a childcare provision alone is in the make sure that we have universal pre-k to make sure that we have childcare were people don't spend more than 7 percent of their income and when you think about it, we just brought somebody on recently that i know what they are paying for their child here and i know what percentage of their income it is taking this would truly be for them to be able to take care of the family making sure that they have additional vacation that they will taken place to benefit their family and other ways that really allows them to spend more time with their children and having that inha the child tax break is continual, is there
10:27 pm
truly game changers. i think that's what the american people and i hope the media will focus on you've all spent a long time talking about this process which he had no one really cares with the process and the role pulled in washington i understand why people talk about it every day unhealthy we spent as much time talking about this because these benefits are t really going to be huge for the market people and i don't think the people really understandnd exactly what is in the bill. hopefully will have more that discussion sue mcdavid massachusetts independently, go ahead dave. >> hi i'm sorry about your mother and her hearing aid but rather than in congress to have one program after another to take care of these issues, i was hoping youat chairman your mother's information h ip happy to help r get her hearing aid and apparently you're incapable of doing it yourself ore whatever,
10:28 pm
and for the congressman but, i mean, i would be happy to help or if you would just share her information. >> i'll take it, thank you pretty. >> republican new york pretty. >> think you for having me on. and as a single person with i'm in my 40s and i've been working since i've 18 years old have not had to get medicare or medicaid and you keep talking about child tax credits and childcare paid forr everybody ad have two brothers who have six kids between the two of them and they pay for their own daycare pretty but are democrats going to do for people like me, that's why you guys are losing that's t you going to lose in virginia pretty. >> check so i assume that if you're 18 you're going to be in the plan for a while early to hope to be and that's what we have a half a trillion dollars investment in the build back better fill around climate change make sure the senate for you that doesn't continue to
10:29 pm
have extreme weather and also measures are in the infrastructure s bill. they combine those two bills will significantly reduce emissions so i get living on the planet will be fun benefit that you will have an being 18, i mean, consuming it one quite, you may have children but if you do you'll see the benefits of the bill in that way as well. and also there is a number of other provisions that will benefit you should you be out of work, there's so many different areas including creating millions of jobs i'm assuming i one point you will want a job if you don't have one those are some of the benefits what did i didn't load the notice a lot more happening with people with children because a lot of the monies going to help raise their family rated and certainly climate change and having a job by betook of the benefits a good to be in this bill for you. >> time for a couple more calls. from new hampshire, democrat
10:30 pm
pretty. >> hi and thanknk you rated congressman, i am interested in knowing how you think you can get bills passed given are 50/50 balance in the senate and the tall margins in the house. what is the strategy and how do you think it will work out pretty. >> thank you sandra, first full you're right, the margins are historically low margins, they are tied essentially the time p breaking vote going to the vice president in less than a handful of those in the house and the good news is nancye pelosi is a macerator job and we have all sorts of bills out of the majority in the senate from the probe act that will finally give
10:31 pm
the workers more of the same workplace like they used to have. there's so many other measures and i've been speaking of that for quite a while but the real question that i think you have is about the senate braided with a 50/50 senate, and their rather strange set of rules around the filibuster is really unique, 60 votes to get things done except for this reconciliation process were things that have a fiscal impact it happens with 51 votes. and that's a real problem that we have and i think that it's time for a serious filibuster reform and we have to remember filibuster was document to aspire founding fathers, came into the country later when they realized they had no way to intimate in the senate braided and transform or deformed over the years and now is largely used as a tool for obstruction it by the minority and at the end of the day i think what yout people care about is a to get something done in washington having more toolsol that can scw that up, i don't think hope and for their helpful meet you to seriously reform how we handle the filibuster rated.
10:32 pm
>> we've hearde about this fora while, but what about the committee system in thewh house, is that work still. i >> i think the largely, that's a ton of bills and send them to the senate so is working la center is a policy because she's very effective at what she does but we do get things done in the question often happens because of a 50/50 vote. the margin you have in the senate but really because the filibuster rules, the most mergers take 60 votes. just for example would reverse a lot of the attacks in the workers that you seen in the trump administration and through other previous demonstrations think of the chance to have a rl voice again and we passed it out of the house with bipartisan votes but in the senate, it's going to take 60 votes to do and every other but a certain local government comes to government,0 50 both plus one is all you need or 50 percent plus one and you pass something but because of these archaic rules incident of old things up and think that is
10:33 pm
the real problem that we face over and over again is addressing how the senate doesn't really operate in a way like a ship. >> phil, arkansas, republican line, please go ahead. >> hi good morning. i have been sitting here trying to figure out where the democrats are on this issue. i know that i was raised 106 children and i was a single mother or a very long time. the one thing that i can't understand is all of the democrats are just literally convinced that they need to help parents pay forth their children to be in daycare so they can go to work. well, i was a single mother and i always found a job that i could make sure that my daughter could be taking care of the
10:34 pm
daycare. i paid for it myself pretty i never looked for the government to help me raise my child credit so that is exactly what that government is doing now pretty they are wanting to put the children in a daycare where they can literally take care of the children that the adults are laying down and having pretty. >> we get the point, please go ahead, spent pretty. >> think things have changed a little bit from that period of time that you're talking about but i would like to go back to them and for the problem is we have to raise the minimum wage we have a dozen years and people really cannot get by on just those wages that they have to go into the workforce and take movie a couple of jobs or job work they're not for the working extra hours to get by and that is not fair to children and i don't think anyone was to punish the children for economic conditions we have setting the
10:35 pm
real idea behind this is to allow more women to be able to get into the workforce and what we passed already in the last year around covid-19 is six or seven jobs went to the men that were created by the relief in the number one thing that we are being told by her business leaders back home is that childcare is only more people back in a getting to the workforce and as you know everyone is trying to hire they can't hire is easily right now and we could do something like this that will benefit women as well, over half of the country, maybe that is what we should be doing i think that's exactlye what we are trying to accomplish is to make it even playing field so that anyone can go to get a job and be able to work and hopefully will address and think the core issue that you bring up which is that we have been very remiss in that not raising the minimum wage in the income gap has grown so much in the country and ceos the richest make so much more those of the lowest economic scales, cannot even get by and working in a full-time job and that is wrong.
10:36 pm
i have some of these ventures can change that. >> final call comes from scott in michigan. >> percival, most democrats get along with nancy pelosi, telling you to vote for something that you have not even completed writing up and finishing and that is the first thing pretty seniors, how can you do anything without stopping the border flux pretty, then million people going through this country pretty. >> we get the two issues there, go ahead, spend pretty. >> for small, the only way you vote is to have that some not quite sure that you're correct on that but the facts on the fact and that is what we actually vote on the floor in onthe second part of the borderi agree that we need to have serious immigration reforms andd
