3:19 am
i want america to remain the greatest country, the strongest economy. immigrants are a part of that solution. host: lou correa represents the 46th district, southern california, has served "washington journal" continues. host: tom mcclintock representing the fourth district. welcome. as you may have heard a lot of conversation about immigration, particularly the immigrations move our decisions to lift title 42 policy implemented by the trump administration, the last month of the trump administration. what is your bot on the bidens administration to do that? guest: they are saying that is
3:20 am
their last line of defense. we have more than 2 million illegal aliens that are at our southern border since the administration took off. more than one million were admitted to our country. the other million were turned away. they expected two see millions added to our country. in 32 days we will be admitting another wyoming. you know, california last year, based on their polling they admitted 14 million people from the caribbean alone planned to come here. no civilization has ever survived this magnitude of
3:21 am
illegal migration. at some point, i think the democrats are going to have to explain to her how are our schools -- explain to us how our our schools better, hospitals, working families helped by letting labor market higher cheap illegal labor? how is our social safety for americans made stronger by adding millions of people into this country? it makes no sense at all. that was the very policy since joe biden took office. host: part of what the cdc said that reasoning for the lifting
3:22 am
of title 42 and to get your reaction, they say that after considering current health conditions and an increased availability to tools of finding covert director suspended the right of migrants in the united states is no longer necessary. that title 42. guest: it is a public health measure concerning all kinds. whatever its purpose for justification, under this administration it is the last remaining tool that the border patrol has to defend our border. that is precisely what the border patrol officers told me time again when i visited the southern borders. host: the center for american progress said this.
3:23 am
they said the decision to end title 42, the expunction policy is the right one. there is no scientific reasoning behind the order, did not protect the united states from covid-19. they say it put asylum seekers at risk by seeking the right to countries where they face persecution. guest: that is the argument for open borders. i think americans are starting to get sick of what that means. as i said, one million illegal immigrants have been admitted to this country deliberately by this administration since he took office. that is a population the size of montana. there have been over a half-million who got away that have come to the country around
3:24 am
the border control. we have to enforce our immigration laws. host: our guest is congressman, tom mcclintock. the number is, (202) 748-8001 four republicans. democrats (202) 748-8002. (202) 748-8003, independent
3:25 am
s. guest: the material is there and ready to be lifted into place. there remain in mexico policy instituted by the truck -- trump administration was extremely effective. those are the things that joe biden reversed. our deportations through ice are now the lowest ever recorded. the administration has been order to resume the policy. but so far, there has not been any word to do so. host: ukrainian refugees are now
3:26 am
at the u.s., mexico border. it certainly before then there have been afghanistan refugees, prior to that patient refugees after the -- haitian refugees after the earthquake. guest: that is the consequence of open borders. i was down there when we countered a lot of people coming from -- encountered a lot of people coming from cuba. we know where one of them went. 10 days later, one of those terrorists detonated the bomb at the airport and killed our
3:27 am
marines. they are coming into that same open southern border. host: my question is, in light year that increases pressure which seems to be a bipartisan push that comes to some border reform, immigration measure that would resolve the situation and the immigration policy in this country. guest: so far, the democrats oppose to advance a measure out of the house that extends amnesty. we have six hearings i believe,
3:28 am
the house committee judiciary, five of those judiciaries for aimed at increasing the flow of migration in the country. there is a very sharp tradition. republicans are doing everything we can to secure the borders. host: we have calls waiting. back to the thing you said about the borders allowing cheap labor to come to this country. do you think this country has a labor shortage that can be answered by immigration? guest: this argument that there are some jobs americans will not do it false. no coincidence. when we secured our border on the trump administration, look
3:29 am
how the fastest increases in decades. we have the fastest increase in 40 years when we secure our borders. it was very much a blue-collar boom and the gap between rich and poor work mirroring, also the -- narrowing, also the first in decades. host: let's get to our callers. caller: i have a few comments and a question i have to ask. we want to talk about cheap labor and people pay wages. a lot of those immigrants picks the fruit in california. review one american labor to do that and have the costs to
3:30 am
skyrocket? hotel rooms, do you think there are a lot of people who want to clean the rooms? that is an argument for bringing in cheap illegal foreign labor for all jobs. guest: employment has to pay the market wage for labor. if you flood the market, the market wage is going to go down dramatically for everybody. host: go ahead. caller: i got to agree on that. i recall the republicans controlling the house, senate and president donald trump. trump came out with his beautiful immigration plan.
3:31 am
you guys talk about every single time against democrats. where did the beautiful plan go? it went down the drain. guest: i am sorry, that is about history. the mexico policy enforcing deportation and bringing the law to completion, near completion, joe biden stop the final construction of that law. that has brought our borders back under control. those are the policies that the biden administration reversed on the very first day. you are right we failed to cast out of the house reform on things like loss that may have had a loophole that this administration has exploded --
3:32 am
exploited. host: independent line. go ahead. caller: good morning, congressman. i have a question. are these immigrants coming across the border, are they screen or are they taking diseases? we have a tremendous problem in the united states they are saying everyday with corona and a new variances. the second of all, how many of these people coming across the borders and there are 13 gang members? in long island they have a problem with it. nobody is doing anything about it. my question is, tremendous cost of the hospitals when they come in there is no health care and
3:33 am
they are using cherokee care which is pushing the cost of hospitalizations. first of all, there is wage in this country that is going up. i think they're so much fake news going on out there and we are being misled. i would like your comments. guest: yes, the gang situations are becoming terrorists. do not forget, the cartel on the mexican side charged close to 35,000 i heard. they aren't making more money in trafficking than they are in drug trafficking. how do they enforce those high fees? the gangs come in.
3:34 am
they advance the money and the gangs can come and an increase the cartel. a serious problem. those are the folks who are going across the border but we cannot apprehend because of the border control. that does not include the people who did get a way that we could not stop. the ones we have not encountered -- that is critically important. the point you made regarding our health care system, when illegal aliens can demand a care in our emergency room, they flood the emergency room. what is that doing for quality
3:35 am
health care in this country? what does that do for our education system? this is insanity and insane. no civilization has ever survived without keeping its borders secured. host: a question on twitter. what is the republicans plan to hold employers accountable to hire the undocumented? guest: we verify. why can't a verify system be mandated for employer so when they are hiring they would have access to that individuals right to be in the country in the first place? that is absolutely essential if we are going to project americans up. it is illegal to hire an illegal
3:36 am
alien. host: in general, the democrats support that or oppose? guest: they are posted. host: let's hear from right in michigan on the republican line. caller: good morning. there is an invasion going on with russia right now. joe biden sent a bunch of crooks over in germany to protect the borders of ukraine. does he realize that he, as the president of the united states can weigh out borders? why were there so many people working in washington? i feel you got 20 times more people than we really need because the more people you got, the more confusion you have. everybody has got their own opinion.
3:37 am
everybody has got their own rights. they will never get along. they are not for us. the federal government is screwed up so bad, all they want to do is get things for themselves as long as they benefit, they do not really give a rats about us. guest: that is our jobs as americans. in america, the people are sovereign. unlike sovereigns of other countries, people do not select their governors, people elect hire help to governors. that is what i am. they decide whether to keep it or throw it out or replace it with somebody else. that is what our elections are all about. elections have never been more
3:38 am
important than they are right now is our countries gets into this. not only with immigration, but what the democrats have done to our country is absolutely shocking. the inflation rate is up nearly 8%. look at the foreign policy debacles in afghanistan. we have got to decide as a people whether we want to continue down this word -- road, whether we can even continue down the road. host: traffic -- topic from elections. tom mcclintock will rot in a new district after redistricting efforts presented eight greater challenge for you this year? guest: there are eight counties in the district.
3:39 am
we have had a very warm procession here. i am very grateful for that. i am grateful to continue to support the people fcr, nevada. host: let's hear from ray in california. caller: you got the chamber of congress in california and that was years ago. you can build a wall all you want. they will go under the wall. it does not matter. go after the employer and enforce the laws that we have. you know and i know it. the biggest obstacle is verify. guest: i agree. host: tampa, florida. independent line. welcome. caller: i think it is despicable
3:40 am
the press secretary gets up there in those conferences and says immigration we need to be compassionate and treat these people, you are even treating the people here are ready with compassion and humanity. look how many people are in the streets now that cannot eat, do not have a roof over their head and you're bringing more here? it is not even fathom a ball to understand why they are allowing this to happen. pure it is only helping our country, it is not -- it is only hurting our country, not helping our country. like health care, that is my money that i work for all of my life. my husband goes to the hospital and sees a person getting free treatment when i have to pay a hundred dollars a month. it is despicable.
3:41 am
guest: there is no common sense to it. democracy, sometimes it is a blessing, other times it is a curse. we do get the government to vote for it. turns out it is a government that we do not like a serving the american people. it is our job to change it. the good news is, we have not been struck by some act of god. those are things we can change the moment we sound the political will to do so. it is not all of that complicated. it is up to america to set things right. host: we will hear from edward, republican line in keyport, new jersey. edward. we lost him. bj in virginia. democrats line. caller: good morning.
3:42 am
trump said that -- about they send us murderers, rapist. some, i suppose are good people. in later -- your opinion what is the breakdown on that percentage? trump never gave us percentages on murderers, rapist and good people. second, what is the back end of that in terms of our regulated militia from outlining guns to go south of the border willy-nilly? should we regulate that more? how? guest: when asked about people coming across the border, it is a crime, it is a federal crime and it is illegal to cross the border between boards of entry. in that respect, every single person coming across our border
3:43 am
in this manner is breaking american laws and they know it. i do not think we should tolerate any illegal immigration. it is illegal. with respect to the guns across the border, i have not really looked at that. my concern right now is we have seen this administration took office, between those deliberately admitted, population the sizes of states like montana and wyoming admitted into these country says this administration took office. that is not sustainable. we are expecting up to 18,000, a population of wyoming every 32 days. that is shocking. host: on the republican line.
3:44 am
bakersfield, california. stephen, go ahead. caller: yes. biden said when he went to europe this is the new world order, that freaks me out. how do you believe that? guest: economic policies are decimating american workers. it is expected to take about $5,000 of the purchasing power of the average family. if you managed to put away towards hundred thousand dollars towards retirement, that purchasing power goes to
3:45 am
inflation. i look at all of these things and wonder how is this happening ? the answer to that is, that is what we decided in the last election. host: before we let you go as the house comes in momentarily, we did not ask you about your views on the administration's policies on the ukraine -- russia war. guest: i think it is important that we provide them with the tools they need to defend their country among those things. we have been sending a lot of surplus of aircraft to park it in the middle of a desert. why aren't we sending that to countries like ukraine and taiwan? why can't we park them there where they can do some good? host: tom mcclintock, he has
3:46 am
represented the important district of california for seven
