11:38 pm
free classes, completely voluntarily funded by the general public so people that to learn. >> if someone is an absolute beginner what will they lead in the class? >> the protocols in relation to owning a firearm, handling a firearm, conflict resolution and a little bit of civics. with civics being taken out of the public schools we don't even know their rights and responsibilities with of that hodgepodge mix you are not going to get out of our class without something about all of those things. >> host: what is the solution? >> we have a center in center inphiladelphia for everyt wants to donate. we are doing not just on firearms and training but also taxes and basic defense, personal protection, welding. anything that improves the quality of life for citizens
11:39 pm
because we can teach you how to defend yourself, that's great but what about building the equity in these areas as well. >> remind about the views on the gun regulation in the country. >> that is the origin of gun control they do a good job of rebranding it as public safety about rules against murder lord already there. it's illegal whether it's a knife or gun or so forth were so on. gun control is resist the dissent just a cool t-shirt it's an actual affect and we need to get people aware of that to highlight which politicians in dc or locally that are advocating for more. would it be a good thing to make
11:40 pm
the law to require somebody to take a class like yours before they are allowed to own a gun? >> it would be a horrible thing. i think informing the people anddoing things voluntarily to inform themselves about being a responsible owner is great but when you have the state that over the last two years printed $7 trillionth when you have a government that operations fast and furious that's given away firearms all over the place the state is not the arbitrator of what we do to defend our lives at all. we stress education in that sense but we've got to be balanced about how we approach that. >> there something like 120 guns in the country for every 101 americans. also right now mass shootings in recent years were happening more often than ever. are those two things related?
11:41 pm
>> those that were attacking the human rights would be in more trouble. we need a conversation about diet, mental health, psychotropic drugs but now you go down the money pipeline. we are in dc, bought and paidll for literally by a big chunk of biger pharma. it makes up less than 1%. now all of them are wrong but when you look at the mass amount we start to see more of a connection.
11:42 pm
>> if we say things are linked. if gun ownership is linked with morere crime the areas that have more restriction on the ownership that means those areas would be safer. it's quite the opposite. it's not only arming people to exercise their rights but you have a community that's been targeted by the state for long periods of time that don't deal with the equity of the people. when you talk about giving someone a senseal of purpose and having the means to defend that equity they built up that's more of a deterrent of anna saying you can't have firearms. >> with us until the bottom of the hour. if you want to join the conversation this morning we put the phone lines up a little bit differently. (202)728-8000, non-gun owners (202)748-8001. go ahead and start calling in this morning. you always wear an interesting t-shirt when you come on this

program. make criminals afraid again. and let's be clear what the definition of crime is. when you talk about robbery, like i want to smoke a plant and the state government says i can't so you should go to jail for ten years, that's not actual crime. so when you talk about going into neighborhoods and going into someone that is the type of crime we are talking about but we have the same for two years. we are going to pretend like we to fund the police even though they stole a bunch of the money and said that right to the country which emboldens criminals. in order to make a violent criminal afraid there's no such thing as a random act of violence. to make that criminal afraid when you have a strong well
11:44 pm
organized loving for the community citizen that has the means to defend his or herself, that is going to make a criminal -- >> that is the one casper has. it's a cute little term that they've called it. it's not going to float around and kill anybody. it's a new scare tactic we've got to serialize. so they don't know what they are talking about. a ghost gun sensationalize is this is president biden last week issuing the regulation on the idea of limiting ghost guns in the country.
11:45 pm
>> in as little as 30 minutes buyers are required to pass background checks because they have no serial numbers when they show up at a crime scene they can't be traced. to find the proof of who used t them. when you can't connect to the gun to the shooter and hold them accountable. they've been able to trace less than 1% of ghost guns reported by law enforcement. so it makes sense across the country police are increasingly finding ghost guns of the crime scenes and by the way, ghost guns can be rightful as well. this is one new version of the kits that you can buy. last year alone, law enforcement reported approximately 20,000 suspected ghost guns to be to
11:46 pm
the bureau of alcohol, tobacco and firearms explosives. that is a tenfold increase in these ghost guns from 2016. tenfold in five years. these are weapons of choice for many criminals. we are going to do everything we can to deprive them of the choice. and when we finally put them in jail for a long, long times. >> he is a clown and wrong and lying but when hesa said it's te weapon of choice but still his little words if he does this he says the atf found about this many of suspected in a crime ghost guns so you're saying something is suspected and number two if it is the weapon of choice you should be definite members. the other thing he says things like it's just patently fold. i can't even really articulate
11:47 pm
the level. he said 3d prints can be done in less than a half-hour. that's absolutely wrong. of these people have no information. he's the same guy that said you should get a shot gun and putro rounds in the air off the front step. that's what he told his wife to do. our president, joe biden is clearly dealing with some dementia. he'ste not articulate or well versed as s well as this new potential nominees presenting is as horrible as the last one. they don't have a good framework but they are trying to scare the general public by using false information that's inaccurate and provably inaccurate. what should people know about his background? >> they should know more about the bureau of alcohol, tobacco and firearms that tends to enter
11:48 pm
certain points attempt to tell americans they don't have a second amendment rights. it's not in the constitution. it exists to be an infringement. don't get me wrong if someone is utilizing firearms or anything for that matter to harm american citizens were humans in general i want them to have their day in court and to be afforded all of their rights to defend themselves and gogo to jail fora very long time. i do agree with the president in that but a lot of things they are doing isn't going to make felons overnight. thepr legislation may be tryingo get past and in essence would have made certain americans overnight if you do not turn in your magazines at a certain capacity you will be looking at potentially ten years in a federal penitentiary area. when we are talking about crime, that's not crime, that is tour defend your life but somehow americans, mind you the guys on the hill and law enforcement
11:49 pm
officers are not subject to the same rules, so it is just more of the same. >> we will: start in georgia, this is a gun owner. good morning. >> good morning. i'm so glad about your organization. i'vem been following you and i'm so happy. i am happy to say that there is a growingum number of black womn getting guns and learning how to use it and i'm one of them and i'm so glad that our government changed [inaudible] first i had to get a gun permit, butt now i have a permit to cary and then the legislation that you don't have to get that. i'm glad because it's black people that have always been the ones on the receiving lines of people attacking us and i don't recommend that or follow that, but it's not guns that kill
11:50 pm
people, it's people that kill people and if i put my gun on the table and nobody bothersbo that it's not shooting anybody. people get so upset about the tool of death but not worried about who's doingut it. you could kill somebody with a bat. you could kill somebody with a knife and we are not getting rid of any of those. thank you. >> guest: that's 100% right. when he said it's used by xy and z, more people annually in america die from assault, bats and hand is the end firearms. they also don't tell you 60% of the deaths related on average are suicide. so they are playing a numbers gameme with the general public more specifically but not limited to convince black people that they shouldn't have the means to defend themselves and -- >> host: referring to constitutional -- >> guest: constitutional carry if you are a citizen that isn't a prohibited person you have the right to purchase without extra
11:51 pm
loops and steps or so-called infringements, it isn't so-called. that's what they are. we do still challenge everyone after you get to the firearm, take reputableou classes. no different than when you get a new video game or something like that and i'm not equating firearms with video games, but you have to learn about the tools that you get, chain saws s and so forth. so shout out for becoming a constitutional carry state. >> host: non-gun owner, good morning. >> caller: good morning. i guess when your guest spoke about the three basics of his organization, i was on board. when he made the comment that gun control is racist, i'm going to have to disagree. now, my problem with the previous call that spoke about the state taking away the requirement for getting a
11:52 pm
license and background checks -- >> guest: that's not what she said. >> caller: i have a problem with the event. when you look at the guns floating into the southside of chicago and other areas that are bought illegally, i think that is a problem across the country not justbl on the south side of chicago. even the supreme court of justice said there should be limits and that was for everybody so you don't get those that like shut up las vegas with hundreds of rounds of ammunition and multiple guns. there has to be a way to stop that and it can be limits as scalia said who was certainly not leftist and i will wait for any response online. >> first, i love when people say that. i understand that we all want to be safe. i get that and 100% agree that when you give an example of the guns that are flowing into chicago from indiana, if the gun
11:53 pm
is the problem and there is more guns in indiana for them to flow into chicago, why doesn't indiana have the same gun problem, why doesn't it have the same violence problem? because overwhelmingly the people in chicago again there's more restrictions of the general public having the means to defend themselves into has the culture of shooting fish in a barrel. i'm the bad guy, i don't follow the rules. if you are the good people and follow the rules, you become a potential victim. these are the things, the cultural part that i think a lot of people that identify as anti-gun, they don't get that part of it so that's that part. with somebody having more rounds and all that other stuff, the guy in vegas into these different things, for every time i hear that argument i can look at the church in texas a year or so ago when a guy walked in and was about to create carnage and the persian or or several pulled their firearm and the one was an elderly man he put rounds on the throat and stopped it and saved how many people's lives and that of church, so for every one of
11:54 pm
those people can get in that regard i think that it's four of firearms used for defensive gun use. >> mississippi, gun owner good morning to you. >> caller: good morning. i'm just calling in to say i live in mississippi and mississippi has got a real somewhat loose gun law. a woman doesn't even have to have a carry permit and a man can tote a pistol as long as it's not concealed legally in the state of mississippi. mississippi is one of the lowest income states but our crime rate is lower than the guy that just called in from illinois, much lower. why do you think that is? because people have got weapons that can protect themselves.
11:55 pm
>> host: >> guest: it is in the millions. that's the other part they don't talk about. they will say 30 to 40,000 deaths and ignore the fact 60 to 70% are suicide and ignore that annually there's over a million every year defensive gun usage. whether that means someone uses a firearm to stop actual criminals, so they play this game andnd the other one that sd something about gun control was with me up until gun control being racist, of course he's not going to think it's racist, he's anti-gun. he's not going to acknowledge the fact thatal certain states stop a black people from having those means to defend themselves. to the caller that just called, he brought up in excellent point. mississippi is a poor state but somehow this place that has less resources and more guns has lower violent crime than the places other people espouse. they are not looking at the
11:56 pm
cultural component or the safety component and defensive gun usage component. east chicago indiana this is alan on the line for non-gun owners.ll good morning. >> caller: thank you for taking my call. a big fan of washington journal. watchednd for years. best show on tv cable. i agree with what you said about the problem but i don't agree with of the solution. one thing you missed about the ghost guns it isn't about to 3d printing but it's the kits that you can buy to assemble a gun just like you can buy the parts to make a house. you don't get a whole house. it's not about 3d printing. you can buy separate parts of a gun and put it together yourself. that's what the ghost gun is. second you talk about the violence in chicago they have
11:57 pm
stricter laws and there are peoe that legally come to indiana or wisconsin to buy guns and take them into chicago and, yes, i live here in east c chicago and there is a gun violence problem. every day there is a shooting going on up here. these are smaller cities, compare indianapolis they also have a gun violence problem. to have a problem with semi automatice we do have a proble. >> host: you bring up a lot of issues. >> guest: the kits are not serialized. it's pieces that comment that also relates to people privately
11:58 pm
making firearms. this administration is essentially going after all these things. remember a few years back it was the no one's coming for your guns. i it's the same line of thinking. we've seen plenty of times where they've said one thing and did another. they also need a separate parts. first of all the reason why is because they are plastic, hard plastic. certain portions are hard plastic. the barrel into bullets or metal so they get all put together at a certain point. i think that people again a lot of the callers that call in armenta very well versed on the nomenclature or the actual facts of what goes into 3d printing and so forth and so on and they say these things going back to
11:59 pm
indianapolis and all these other different places even if it is a bigger city still generally have more gun control you take my city in philadelphia that is a blue city in the middle of a red state and pennsylvania philadelphia is the only city that is over a million inhabitants but pretty much have a legal uncontrolled that tries to do different roles outside of what the actual state constitution and statens laws a. so you've got to factor that in. we can't just say that it's solely based on population. the bigger populated cities have left-leaning policies that impact safe and responsible gun ownership. do you see the increasing aggression and what are your thoughts about the guy killed who felt threatened enough to sleep with his gun and he was still shot and killed? >> i think that there needs to be better scenario training.ds i think not even just law enforcement. i don't want to take one slice of the pie. we need to look at the judge and

12:01 am
can defend yourself. >> a few minutes left with maj toure. >> good morning, yes, i thought you had an ar15 to kill a deer. if hee needs an ar-15 to kill a deer he's not a good shot. also. i'd like to look at louisiana. blacks kill each other on a average of 2 to 3, 4, 5, and three-fourths. they can't kill each other with knives they have too many guns. >> that's stupid. you saidwh they wouldn't kill eh
12:02 am
other if they had knives. places that have pretty much outlawed private gun ownership and they said know we need more knife control. that's not a phrase. people will findl a way to stab you if you didn't have the way to defend yourself. he called on the pro gun line to get his point across, that's silly. violence isn based proximity. if they will attack each other. that guy happens to be white and i'm white. it's a white on white crime. it's about proximity. there are s many black on black violence or murders and so forth. we have to go back to the basic fact these are happening cities with little respect for the

second amendment. >> i'm asking about why do you allow african cultures letting them out for prison. a lot of people continue to commit crime because they go free. send them over there. they come here. >> what's the question? >> i'm asking about virginia. why everybody has a gun but crime rate is going down just like montgomery. the crime is high like washington d.c., baltimore, chicago. why is the crime high more than virginia. >> all right, i think we have it? it. >> he's proving my point. they have policies that make it more difficult.
12:04 am
when you haveac places like georgia. the governor said we want constitutional carry. if i'm the napie rapist dude and a chance this young woman is armored i think twice as opposed tod a city where no one has a firearm. he's proving the point. what he said about shipping people somewhere else i'm not sure about what kind of reverse he's talking about. >> if they want to know more about black guns matter. >> they can o e-mail us at solutionrylifestyle@ gmail. we said 60 to 70% of deaths are suicide. g if you need a voice e-mail me. i check those v e-mails too.

send me your phone number. i'd rather talk about your issues than read your about your death. >> he's part of the john hopkins gun violence solution. explain the centers mission. the centers >> sure, the mission is to conduct research on the biggest public safety and health problems inan the country gun violence. we were established in 1995 at the john hopkins school of health.ar we are interested in all forms of r gun violence. we also are committed to evidence based policy. so,, we recently joined with colleagues who also
