i hear people call in, that's not necessarily chase. >> host: thanks, sheila. >> guest: what i will say to she is there's a report out that look at the top 20 banks that depend a lot of junk fees, 10% or more, more of the total assets of junk fees. with the did find is those banks set up shop in communities and counties that are living below the national poverty level, and communities and counties that are living below, the households are not making thehe meeting national income. so yes, banks are definitely preying on low income consumers and offering them credit that theyst know they cannot afford. >> host: our guest organization is the americans for financial reform, ourfinancialsecurity.org is a website if you want to check out the work ticket when it comes to late fees of credit cards and

elyse hicks serves as a consumer policy council. ms. hicks thanks for your time today. >> guest: into so much for having me. >> host: white house reporter from the hill newspaper joint as the assume this morning. brett sandals good morning to you. >> guest: how are you? , a story in the hill and what we don't know about the latest objects shot downt on the u.s. after that briefing at the white house yesterday. what dous we know and what don't we know? >> guest: so the reality is there still a lot we don't know and that officials don't know and are not quite ready to share yet with the public. what we do know is that there were three different objects shot down over the weekend, friday, saturday and sunday by the u.s. military. what we know it's not much be on that other thanth where they wee shot down, which is on friday over alaska, saturday up in canada, and sunday over lake her on. so beyond h that officials are t ready to classified or described

what these objects wereer beyond just calling them aerial objects. plus they said the reason he was shot that is because number one, they were in civilian airspace around 20,000 -40,000 n the air, and they decided that they were unsure of surveillance capabilities that these objects might have. so president biden when head and made the decision to shoot these down, but beyond that we still don't know where they came from, what their purpose was. so still much to be learned i think in the days ahead as teams work to recoverer the debris frm these objects. >> host: this first one was described as a chinese by a balloon these objects these last three different. are we certain yet these three are from china or is that just the expectation? >> guest: we are still not sure where they came from. officials ofme an careful not quite to assign china

responsibility for these. certainly is possible that that may end upp being the case but john kirby who is the white a spokesman national security issued, was talking on monday about how the reality is that it may in the internet to be there's nothing the first about these objects, acknowledging that research institutions, private companies sendup weather balloons and other objects or whatever reason. so it's possible that it may not be nefarious in the end but certainly given after the chinese spy balloon was shot down just about ten days ago, people are on high alert for the foreign connection to a country from a national security council spokesman john kirby as you sit and briefing. you wereom there. he said that the white house has been as transparent as we can. i wonder how that went over in the room with reporters, how that went over with members on capitol hill flippin calling for more answers and more transparency? >> guest: yeah, on the one
10:57 am
hand, from the press corps perspective on one hand there's some appreciation john kirby was able to come to speak to these issues has been did answer questions to take questions to share what he can about this. on the other hand, certainly there still a lot of information that folks justt don't know abot this and so there's sort of limited info he is able to share. i think there's even more skepticism up on capitol hill where lawmakers are confounded i have this is suddenly happening come that the objects are in our airspacece in the u.s., why givg shot down allac of a sudden, why there's talk of whether not this has happened before. there is this growing chorus from republicans in particular about whether president biden needs to address this and speak to the nation to talk about why this is happening and whether there's any security threat, anything like that. i think we will see that continue to sort of faster the next couple of days, calls for

more answers. there's an expectation the white house will briefed lawmakers on some of this in the coming days but until we really know more about where these objects came from and what they were doing, i think there will still be frustrationfr at least on capitl hill. >> host: do you get ayo sense president biden is any closer to going in front of the cameras and taking questions are addressing the nation about these objects? >> guest: in talking to folks at the white house about this i think there is a sense preps at some point this week we might hear from the president on this issue. i think they want to be careful not to say much after before we know much more about these objects, not having speak just to having speak. there is a possibility as we learn more, as debris from these objects from the week and are recovered that this good chance when i hear from the president at some point to address the public about these issues.

>> host: finally what details about a classified briefing that senators are taking part in this morning, supposed to take place at 10 a.m. eastern before the senate comes in officially today at 11 a.m.? >> guest: so i think the administration is trying to be transparent as john kirby said, give as much information as they can. they have talked about they still haven't been able to recover the debris from his objects that were shot down over the weekend because of the weather, up in alaska the ground is still frozen, and canada. in case of lake huron object it was downed overwater. so tougher to recover that one. i think there's a good chance the answers was to be limited to a degree with these briefings but i think it's sort of an olive branch for the administration to show they want to be transparent and keep lawmakers in the loop as a learn more about thesese objects. >> host: brett samuels thanks for keeping us in the loop. we'll see you back in the white
