with the associated press. meg let's begin with the state of ath plate for camping 2024 on the republican side. give us an update. >> we have seen candidates all across the board and this past month apart especially the past week. we saw a lot of candidates gathering in iowa for a big get together a lot of them showcase what they have seen what they are putting forth as the most conservative tendencies on policies including abortion and some other big issues that are at play here in the campaign. but we are seeing as a focus on the early voting states in iowa and new hampshire and here in south carolina where i report and live. these are the first votes that come up in 2024. it is so what we are sick most of the candidates putting a lot of their energy taking what they have in their campaign coffers spreading it out among the states in terms of added buys,

in second to former president donald trump. for a long time for the governor desantis has occupied that spot but we are seeing some instances there are different candidates moving up into that spot when his former self, to governor nikki haley who has been campaigning hard ing all the early states across the board but a seat in a bed of surge in momentum in part due to perhaps her performance in the first gop candidate debate. south carolina senator tim scott is also showing a bit of upward momentum in some places. as biotech entrepreneur vivek ramaswamy. it depends on what surveys you are looking at. but a lot of those positions for the former president does occupied the top spot how much of his lead is dependent onde where you are looking and over whom in the second place spot. >> speaking of debates and performance, for the associated press tim scott was new rules for stagela replacement and the next gop he seeks a breakout moment.

>> at us right was how the scott campaign write a letter to gop charwoman ron mcdaniel in saying when it comes to who is center stage in that debate coming up at the end of the month of the treagan library they argued placement should be based primarily off of early state: and perhaps in particular pulling out off iowa which holds the leadoff caucus over the scott campaign has been performingam somewhat better in recent weeks. so arguably it using those metrics to determine who's at the center of the stage and therefore part of just about every conversation happens on it.ev but that campaign could be in better position to some of those numbers are used from iowa. because let's member the current gop frontwa runner to the former president donald trump has indicated he might not participate in any of the primary cycle states it's very unlikely he will be there even though he is the leader so far. >> how are these candidates doing on fundraising? >> well, we're coming up on the

end of another fundraising quarter so we will get another look here shortly as to exactly where the coffers are. but it kind of depends on who you are talking too and what stage in the campaign pick clearly the haley campaign based on her performance the first debate last month said she had one of her best single fundraising periods arguably they say basede off of her performance there. some of the other campaigns also say there have been bumps in momentum of the desantis campaign has been out saying he's doing well based off of that debate. tim scott came into the race with some of the most money of any candidate he was able to bring in a lot from his senate coffers were he is not face a lot of general election opposition in his most recent rents therefore had a lot of money leftos over. he also said his fundraising has been doing well. so far campaigns at saint they're continuing to bring in money. we will see for sure how much here shortly. we are saying all that transfer

about what that means to boaters and how they approach that. of course there are some that say that doesn't bothert. them they trust his experience but there are others who do bring it up.pe that is also something we hear continually from just about every republican campaign. perhaps not specific to age but they pose questions with the president's ability to do his job. there are other democrats in the primary against the presidency seeks the nomination. south carolina scheduled to hold the first of the nominating contest. and the other candidates like robert f kennedy jr. are spending a lot of time here talking to voters. they are making sure voters in the democratic side of thingss o they too have a choice heading into next your selection. but there are a lot of states, south carolina among them supported joe biden very strongly in 2020 when he sought the nomination then. it will take more months for us to see if the other candidates are able to make their argument in a persuasive way bigwigs follow-up campaign 202040 can do so if you go to ask and follow
