voting for president trump are looking for a different candidate, they all coalesce around one candidate maybee that's nikki haley there still time for that to happen. it's a long time in a big gap to make up. the other thing i will say it really quick it's important to remember that softball is critical who wins iowa. in fact many of the candidates and gone on to be the nominee could w not win iowa. theymi have to do well enough he to remain viable moving forward. that's like nikki haley, ron desantis. they come out of iowa is at least a little closer on and on. >> there is an article in your publication i'm sorry this is in the "des moines register."

spotting naturally tim scott shifts resources to go all in on iowa caucuses. we got senator tim scott got florida governor desantis really moving a lot of campaign resources to iowa. seen on the ground and any impact that might be having? >> we did cover that in the cedar rapids gazette as well. though governor desantis has already sort of made that calculation. senator grassley hear from iowa made famous his annual effort to visit do the same in this campaign is in very focused on iowa from the start you mention mentioned senator scott. he recently made the decision for all the folks here in iowa.

that's where they clearly see as their best shot moving forward. herea. and iowa. i wheezing the impact of that on the ground? not yet i would say but there is still time for that. senator scott has been here plenty of times. pilotte voters are familiar. it would be interesting to see this ramp up has an impact. we have not seen it yet. >> here is a headline for a piece you wrote in the gazette that says keeping the faith i've i was evangelical voters with the presidential candidate the deep conviction drives evangelicals to participate inn caucuses. talk about that voting block. >> they are critical to iowa republican primary elections if

for no other reason they are very committed is what you read from the story there. they turn out. they're looking for the people they know once they get there they can be confident they will come out. especially in a caucus you cannot just file it you have to show up on that day and be there insh person. because how into the process they get. it's a very sought after and the republican primaries multiple big events hosted by faith-based organizations were almost all of the presidential candidates that come to-b speak.

so absolutes critical. >> so what are the biggest issues about iowa voters care most about? >> when you get down to it it's noto different what you hear frm voters all across the country. i hear a lot about immigration. i hear a lot about the economy. i hear a lot about law enforcement. when you go to some of the more oufaith-based events you hear things about abortion policy more often and religious freedom and things like those. they are talking the economy and the border immigration. and now with one eye as well we see these conflicts in ukraine and israel and hamas bureau chief for the gazette thank you
