serious note we are a nation at risk. president biden's a presidency is a disaster. yes, his leadership has been as unsteady as a walk along the beach. biden's economic plan has made it hard for families to make ends meet. biden's open-door policy has threatened our security. as all green energy plan is undermined economy and the weakness of broad has emboldened our enemies. nations are at war. united states leadership is threatened. my friends, it is time for a new direction. it is time for republican leadership. i am running for president of the united states because we are a nation at risk and i am the right leader for these perilous times. many of you know my story. as a federal prosecutor i put on a flight jacket to help negotiate the surrender of an armed encampment of terrorists. i successfully prosecuted them in court despite threats and assassination plots. as a member of congress i served with great members from florida such as now chief justice charles kennedy who was on the judiciary committee with me. and guess what we did in congress 20 years ago, we actually balance the budget. i know how to do it. and it has been a long time since we have been able to do it. i was also a prosecutor or former president clinton when he was charged with obstruction of justice and i went to the senate

the world trade center attack and our country. but one of the highlights of my public career is that i was able to serve as governor of arkansas for eight years. during that time i've proved that you can govern as a conservative. after more than 100 years of democratic rule of the states, let me repeat repeat that 100 years of democratic rule in this state, i signed legislation to lower taxes from 7% down to 4.9%. $700 million a year going from the government coffers back to taxpayers pockets. i know one of the debates today is about restrictions on abortion. as governor i signed over 30 pro-life bills that led arkansas to be recognized in the most pro-life state in the nation. i will be a pro-lifer president. open schools and businesses not to close them down number two and far as in the classroom instruction second only to wyoming. that's good for our schoolchildren i did not shelter in place and did not categorize some businesses is nonessential because of my view if a business provides a job for a family it is essential.
