this end of the building is never restored. the other end was restored a number of years ago and modernized by general motors. this end hasn't. the original plant was 3.5 million square feet. now it is 5 million square feet. we intend to save about 175,000 square feet. it really is a very insignificant piece of the plant. as they said early, it represents the most significant piece of democracy where the bombers rolled out. we intend to move the museum into it some day. we use it for a hangar for the airplanes that they have in this hangar. initially we are looking at raising about $8 million.

of the $8 million we need to raise up front, we have 2.5 million left. >> this ship is strong. the strike built in by skilled brains and hands. with all the experience ford gained over the years of mass production. >> they had rough times over the last ten years or so. and especially in the last couple of years. this is something that the people from southeastern michigan and northern ohio, all the people that supported this plant worked in it and the companies that supported the production here, this is something that we can look back at and smile about. we did something here in detroit that was not done anywhere else in the world and it literally saved the world.

live monday our series continues. >> mrs. johnson loved to show off the country and her home. the guest to the ranch would often gather here in the den. various heads of state came to visit. we do have a few things that speak to her connection to the room here. one of the things she wanted to highlight was the native american heritage here in the hill country. we have a small collection of arrowheads over there. she had an eye for copper and collected various items and had gifts from various friends. mrs. johnson gave a tour of the house in 1968 that was filmed where she featured the china here. she spent a lot of time at the ranch and it was important because it provided a respite from the turmoil in washington particularly later in the presidency where they could come home and recharge batteries and make the connection back to the land and the place they valued so much. >> first lady, lady bird
