>> i just wondered if mr. ford had been reunited with his tank at some time? or how he was reunited? >> did you hear, jack? were you ever reunited with the tank you lost or did you go to renew tank? would you like to talk about that? what happened after you lost the first tank. >> all four tanks on the lct that i was on were lost. i had to write a supply truck for a couple of weeks before i

got a replacement tank. i didn't like that supply truck because it was carrying mostly gasoline and ammunition. [laughter] one sniper bullet and i would probably be shaking senate -- shaking hands with st. peter, i guess. i finally got another tag and then we had to get another crew, because of the four tanks'crewmen, tournament on the four tanks, 12 were killed, three wounded in five of us survived. -- and five of us survived. we had to get in the tank crew. it was about two weeks -- we had to get another tank crew. it was about two weeks. i had a second tank at the battle of mauritanian, where the germans launched a massive attack.

we got out of that one safely. well, not safely. i got burned and got hit on the arm with a piece of shrapnel. >> another question from the audience? thank you all for attending. thank you especially to our veterans. >> next, a visit to the army archives to learn about their experience gallery that traces army history from the 1898 spanish-american war to the present. >> am going to show you around today. this is part of the facility, more like a museum rather than archives or storage facility. it is our way to show the american public the sort of materials we have here so you can understand army history, whether you are a soldier and a veteran or someone who has never had family or been in the army themselves. between the spanish-american war and world war i, we did send a contingent of soldiers with other nations to the china relief expedition more popularly known as the boxer rebellion.

it became the first real international operation marked by american cooperation with other countries. one interesting piece we have in our collection at the army heritage and education center that is accessible in the exhibit, in this case, it is calvin titus. he won and metal of honor for daring and valiant conduct. he was one of the first soldiers to scale the wall during the boxer rebellion. this code will take your cell phone to a recording of his actual oral history. >> this is something that took place a long time ago and has followed me. i cannot get away from it.
