history tv all weekend, every weekend on c-span three. >> there we go. >> this is nexen. good. ♪ ♪ we are watching the wagons for the parade coming up next saturday, the cheyenne frontier days. we have rodeos and parades and pancake breakfast, 10 days of entertainment western-style. >> this is number 16? >> yeah. >> the last carriages will go into the parade. there are four parade scheduled for every year. we are going down to the parade lot which is where they are accumulating for their first

pull down which will be on the first saturday of frontier. this is the staging area for the four parades that people see during frontier days, saturday, tuesday, thursday and saturday. cheyenne frontier days is staged by all volunteers so it gets to be quite a job getting everything ready. this is what we call our parade lot. and this is where we part the carriages that will be seen in each of the parades. there are 58 carriages that will be seen in the parade. eight of them go down at the very first. we call that our vip section and the back part is just the all-time vehicle section. -- the old-time vehicle section ma call people in cheyenne to ride in the different carriages and fit them in garments that

are appropriate for the carriage. we have a group of ladies called the wheels. they were named after a group of men that worked for front tier days and were called the heels. they are the heels and we are the wheels. though wheels were started when the first grade started. a lady named mrs. boyce had an idea to get people to frontier days and organized operate in 1922. it was so successful that by 1927, it became an annual event and now we have the four parades during frontier days. the wheels have grown and still stage this. frontier days is symbolic of the american west. what -- it's it's our largest and strongest economic development project because it costs -- it pumps a lot of money the cheyenne.
