the spanish-american war. being at montpelier, in south carolina and in virginia, the weather was a little bit different for them in the winter time. they suffered a great deal in that their rations were poor. there was a diary from soldier who is camped here. and we actually do some research online to find out about it, so the internet has been a greet source to find information on these men. we're putting a can vas top. these sites were 12 by 12, they would have anywhere from four to five men, it was actually a way to get out of the cold, keep warm and a way to survive. to we actually went and looked

at some period photographs and everything we have done here, we have the 12 by 12, and it's been through the types of photographs that we have seen from actual huts, so everything is authentic to the time period. most of the men here are from central virginia area, we have been together for quite a long time, so we have formed quite a tight bond and friendship through that. having this project even brought us closer together. for a lot of us guys, this 150th anniversary is probably the last hurrah for a lot of us. you can read all kinds of books on the battle of gettysberg or but very little is known about the life of a soldier, what they suffered through in camp. this brings another aspect
