participated in, where they actually help fund improvements as it isanch, as long to help with conservation ksactices to keep that cree those are great programs because those programs -- there is an incentive for farmers to participate. it is nice when you have programs like that. too, isr thing, sometimes the rules and regulations are the same whether you are a small business or a larger business. when you are small, you cannot necessarily afford some of the changes or the new rules and regulations. you can do that as easily because of the burdensome financial responsibility it

takes to do that. i have 15 full-time employees. then i hire additional seasonal help. really, one of the biggest challenges facing the united states agriculture, whether it is in california or texas or new mexico or new york, is the immigration program and the fact that we really don't have a -- that allows for some type of a guest-worker program, entry-level workers to come into this country, help with seasonal harvest and then be able to go back to their country. -- it is really unfortunate because you have both sides of the aisle, just seem toreally not be listening to each other on this area -- on this.

everyone is stuck on their talking points. the reality of what is going on here at the farm level. it is really unfortunate because as i mentioned, my parents came over to this country as immigrants. there was a program that allowed them to do that back in the 1950's. it is unfortunate that we do not have a program similar to that now. -- his firstver job was looking cows near san jose. he did that. he was able to save his money milking cows, not his citizenship by joining the u.s. a couplee out, worked more years and saved his money to buy this farm. that is the american dream. and there's a lot of immigrant-bashing going on right -- i really don't don't understand that.

people visiting -- the people visiting need to stay someplace and eat someplace here it local restaurants have great opportunities. they are buying local products. farmers are looking at doing specialty livestock or specialty meats or specialty vegetables, there is some great opportunities and we live in an area here in sonoma county, that has a history of having i diverse agriculture base. i see that continuing and most likely flourishing with the advent of our agri-tourism that has evolved here in our local county economy. >> throughout the weekend, american history tv is featuring santa rosa, california. our staff traveled there to learn about the rich history.
