cook. she had an organic garden behind the house, a victory garden of course. in her sewing room she had her sewing machine. she had learned to sew by taking lessons from a large department store downtown. she sewed many have her own clothes and she made many of her own hats. cookedkitchen, where she , she used a stove that was both gas and coal. sick woman.a very she really believed in health and feeding her family correctly. 4-5 miles for -- every day, regardless of the weather. you know in buffalo that can be very tough in the winter months.

she was rollerskating and ice skating into her 60's and 70's, and she walked everywhere. this room would have been the dining room, head reverend nash not needed a large study. so they turned it into his study and they used this for the dining room. this is where they would entertain guests to came to visit the family, this is where the family would sit. piano evenlayed the though she was not the official pianist for the church. they had one heater that he did the whole house. reverend nash did not turn this heater on until after thanksgiving. if you know anything about buffalo, you can have a blizzard before thanksgiving, but this heater did not go on until after thanksgiving. he never kept the heater on at night.

if you were cold you had to take that iron that you saw on the stove in there, take a break, rapid and flannel, set it on the top. when it got warm you would take it to bed with you and put it down there to keep your feet warm, because the heater was off at night. so how did they entertain themselves? pno -- pno -- -- piano, they had a radio, and they had a photograph. they could listen to records. these are some of the records that were in their collection. on's wind it up and turn it and just give you an example of the records that they listened to. now that is very entertaining, but it is kind of quiet. so if they needed it a little louder they simply had to open up the door and you got a much

louder sound. if you wanted to quiet it down you just close the doors to the victrola. these were modern conveniences at that time. let's go inside the study. we come inside and we see reverend nash busy at work, sitting in his desk. this is where he would meet with members of his congregation, members of the community, who had to have a conference with reverend nash. you can see the room is filled with many of his books. he was an avid reader. he had over 3000 books in his collection, not all of them were books about religion. an outline probably and a copy of all of his sermons for about 58 years while he was

pastor of the michigan street baptist church. he was a pastor there for 61 consecutive years. some of them he wrote, some of them he used a typewriter to type out. the things that he typed he made copies of it and we have copies of the correspondence that he typed out and copies of letters that he received. nash had his bedroom off of his study. there are a lot of pillows on nash,d because reverend in his elder years, had some difficulty sleeping with his back flat so he would pop him -- prop himself up to be able to sleep. and robe is still hanging, this is the road be used to preach and and the church. we learn -- when you take a
