without the due process of a good conversation, a deliberate ve hrd feelings.u're going to immigration is the biggest key we should be doing this the right way. >> from antelope, california, larry, democrats line, hi. >> eryeah, good morning. yes, my main thought about the daca people is they need to be returned to their countries of bassy or consulate nearby legal entrance into the united states. about immigration in general, i would like to see a moratorium soe c w absorb the huge number of immigrants, legal and illegal,at we've had pour into the country over the last 50 years. think tina hit the nail on the
12:05 pm
head when she said the quality of life for tax-paying u.s. citizens is going down the tubes illegal migraont l of the legal occurred. >> you're right. most people now believe that you're starting to see a majory ayg, se oght to not capping the number of imgrants, but maybe we ought to be lowering them instead of bringing over a million people into this country. we're a generous country. maybe we ought to be looking at reducing that application of tho folks cominn this country and taking f th cracks and fissures and problems we have in this country. you can't help anybody unl you help yourse a have a solundation in your country. i agree with you. there's a may day here because this is the core fabric of this

country, immigration. but it's also the core fabric that will tear us apart, and that's the problem. if we don't do it right -- i keep coming back to it. good process builds good policy and simple.politics.in this is something that the american people really deserve to have a conversation with. and to have their voices heard instead e special iner 's the key here. we're all immigrants. even native americans. they came from other areas as well. so how do we fabricate that, following the rule of law, and enabling and empowering -- keyword, empowering -- instead of victimizing solutions. remember when you're a parent and you've got kids and they do something wrong, sometimes there's those things called tough that makes you the better person, that makes you understand your role in life and that you have to be part of a
12:07 pm
solution. you can't just be given everything. so i think this is a case where we have to have some tough love. is there an ability to have daca ento stay but not c in a with citizenship? maybe that's where i'm at. i don't want to give a special denotation for these people, but i also don't want to violate the trust othe american people by saying, listen, i'm not embracing al 's is legal immigration. >> what about the -- is there a possibility of streamlining the immigration process for those who would go back to their countries and apply to become -- is there a way to streamline the process? >> he brought up a perfect scenario. now what we have is we have these political asylees comes up through mexico. the best way would be going bac to the consulate or embassies to petition there.as've told the a

general, isn't it once mexico allows some of these refugees to come through, aren't they giving them a status already so we could turn around and send them back in there's got to be a better way in regards to that enforcement application. citizenship here is not a right. it is a it is a privilege. one again, it is not a it's a privilege. fromatandpoint, i the matrix of our fabric. it is soiverse. it's unbelievable. but there's got to be a better way. i think the american people are starting to rise up and see this. >> a couple other topics. the house speaker announcing he's going to leave office. who should take his place? >> i'm a fan of jim jordan. once again, i bring it back up. good process builds good policy builds good politics. we have not seen that from this leadership team. m out it. i've been one of the first people. i didn't care for paul ryan's
12:09 pm
first run. i voted for him because donald trump wanted him in the speakership. but i'm out there saying, listen, i can't do this anymore. >> why not kevin mcrthy or steve scalise? >> because they're part of the same cloth. let's watch. hnjo boehner, bad process, bad policy, bad politics. we get paul ryan, who follows the samemold. nd alean sweep. i need to have a whole new leadership team to reinvent this process of listening to members. we bug rpabrador. here's a great guy who's been an immigration attorney, who has this insight. these are ougpeople that ought be leading the discussion. we have people like matt thornbury on military. we need to have a speaker that buildsthat process so that we have the great policy and all these different facets and start
12:10 pm
listening to the american le. we representative republic, a constitutional republic. were not a democrac when i hear thaov ove epublic. get back to your roots and find out how do you get back to that good policy. >> what is it about jim jordan that convinces you he's going to take in all the scope of the republican party, not ju ones you represent? >> you know, the more and more you start to listen, pedro, american people are coming back to that process saying, listen, we like that freedom caucus, okay. they might have ideas we don't care for, but they're getting back to that process. they're asking the questions that create the debate. sten, is this really where we want to go? is this really how we should be doing it? shouldn't we actually be making a solution that lasts the curtails of time instead of a quick fix? why is tat leadership way is
12:11 pm
the only way? i find that offensive. what leadership ought to be doing is listening to the 435. actually n this case, the535, and finding a empowering again those nuggets of expertise t come to then op to have that de. >> let's go to d,ia jim, licli>ncaller: good morning. w yoingi for bringing up e-verify. i never hear about that from anybodyncongrei'dss.ike yur ta. if this was made law of the lan $10,000 for every illegal immigrant that they hire, these people would stop. people would stop coming into this country. second, some of the stats on daca recipients, they say 12%
12:12 pm
have n graduated high school, and 26% to 28% have been documented as known gang members, which i thought would make them ineligible to stay in thiscontry. dthat's what i'd like to say and get your thoughts on that. >> you bring up e-verify. absolutely. that is one of the key contentions right now behind closed doors, that that needs to go away. if ys, then i haso an exemption for the agricultural business. know, that's totally y g have it across that board. i repseat ha a salad between the end of october and the end of april in e was thought to have come out of the yuma area. so i understand the agricultural application. but once again, everybody's got to follow the laws. there's notionsre.

u kno we had this conversation with my district. one of their thought processes was that, you know, they wanted to have anmmigration process and a guestorker program. my staff a went ba to those individuals and said, ka ildinit, how about weild so we convened some meetings. guessat they b? someth pas the wayside. they accountability but also empowered american citizens. e-verify has to be an applicable application across the not hurting businesses. it's saving businesses because if you'reoing to follow that e-very pros, it's very, individuals that say once you start a database on that, your not going to like it. weush /pull me type of process.
12:14 pm
we got to have somewhere to orient thestat of equal application of the law. so you're exactly right.>> bere reprwant you to re bk and that waseported on between you and members of representative ossator mccain overin mccain ility becoming a plement should john mccain pass away. >> where i got involved here is that the comment was made he would not appoint cindy main. cindy's name came outeft field. it's been reported a number of places. who did it, i don't know. on ken bennett was inappropriate. the reason i say that is that was ken bennett's opinion, that cindy mccain wasn't goin be somebody he wou c because she di not fulfill his iderole.
12:15 pm
