what would work look like in the future? the manhattan institute hosted a panel of economists, authors, and journalists on jobs, training, and wages in america. this is about one hour 20 minutes. if i could have your attention, my name is brian anderson, i am the editor of city journal, i want to welcome you all today on behalf of the manhattan institute, the first of what will be two important discussions on the great american domestic crisis of our time, long-term joblessness. several months ago we published a special issue called the shape of work to come which set the stage for today's panel and the second panel, which will be held next month. a half-century ago, 95% of men between the ages of 25 and 54 worked.
