as the house gets set to debate three bills banning oil and gas drilling we're joined by rebecca beitsch, the energy reporter for the hill. democrats to push for offshore drilling ban when congress reconvenes. tell us about the first piece of legislation from joe cunningham, democrat from south carolina, what would his bill do? >> this is a pretty big piece of legislation. it would block offshore drilling off of both the atlantic and pacific shores. right now there's not a ton of drilling going on on either coast, but the trump administration has made clear that they view both coastlines to have a lot of potential for offshore drilling. so you really see this as a move by democrats to try to cut off the administration and make sure that these coastlines are permanently protected. >> the one bill getting some bipartisan support coming out of the house natural resources

committee is by florida republican francis rooney, getting two republican members to vote for it in committee. tell us about his bill dealing with drilling in the eastern gulf. >> representative rooney's bill would block any drilling from the eastern gulf of mexico, a huge part of florida's coastline. that's something that's going to have a lot of support among floridians. it's hugely unpopular in florida for economic and environmental reasons. people want to protect the shoreline. >> lastly from jared huffman, democrat from california, a measure that would deal with the current policy of allowing federal lands in alaska, drilling on the arctic national wildlife refuge, when did congress authorize the oil and gas drilling in anwr and what would his bill do? >> that was first authorized under the 2017 tax bill, it was a provision that was introduced
