part of the conference. the other members of the committee are going to be a part of the conference and we will treat this issue just as seriously as we treat all issues and we will support it in conference and it will be a part of the process of the conference as it moves forward. and i hope that that's satisfactory to the gentleman. mr. burton: i thank the gentleman for his answer and i'll just end by saying that i really hope this stays in the bill. i can't think of anything that's more important as far as stabilizing central and south america than free trade agreements. we've been fighting for a free trade agreement with panama and colombia for a long, long time and if we're going to make sure that we slow down the illegal immigration that's coming from central and south america, we've got to do things to stabilize that entire region. not only from the drug standpoint but also from the illegal immigration standpoint.
