out of order for one minute. the chair: the gentleman from pennsylvania is recognized. >> thank you. mr. speaker, as you know, last night was the 48th annual roll call congressional baseball game. the real winners last night were the washington boys and girls club and the washington literacy council as we were able to raise over $100,000 for those charities. mr. speaker, it's been nine long years since the coveted roll call trophy was able to sit on this desk and i want to first of all offer my congratulations to our republican teammates, john shimkus pitched a fantastic game. he's a real gamer. they fought long and hard but this year was our year and i'm happy to announce that the democrats won the game 15-10. joe baca at the age of 62

pitched a complete game, gave up just eight hits and bark stupak was tremendous in the field and tim bishop was tremendous at bat. i want to congratulate and thank all the players on the democratic team for their hard work and for this accomplishment and i want to yield the floor to my good friend, joe barton. mr. barton: mr. speaker. mr. speaker, the house is not in order. mr. speaker, i was slow to get on my feet. i was going to object to this breech of the rules of the house allowing -- breach of the rules of the how it's, allowing to speak out of order but i was too slow. it's a very disate pointing

sight, mr. speaker, to see that trophy in an unaccustomed place but last night at national stadium the democrats very uncharacteristically played like republicans, they played -- they played very well, they played as a team, they even played by the rules, mr. speaker. and as a result they won the game fair and square, 15-10. i want to commend mr. doyle for his excellent manage jeer nal skills, mr. baca, mr. stupak and mr. bishop who were the -- i think the tri-m.v.p.'s. i also want to commend on our side our m.v.p., mr. bar et, who played a great game -- mr.

barrett who played a great game. john shimkus who pitched and did well and sam graves who made several highlight catches in the outfield. it was a good game. the democrats did deserve to win. but don't get accustomed to it because we will be back in the spirit of good competition and as mr. doyle said, it was for the washington literacy council and the washington area boys and girls club. i do want to thank the nationals for letting us use their field. and my guess is they will be calling up some of the democrats to play on their team since you have a better winning record now this year than they do. i yield back the balance of my time. doyle doyle we're going to play the nationals next year. mr. barton: congratulations to
