now, henson's not even active on the team. this is what he tweeted. and i quote. do we got that? there it is. "don't come to fedex to boo dim know what's best for the team and you work 9 to 5 at mcdonald's. you're lucky to play in the nfl. do not ridicule people how they make their living. he told reporters he understands how he offended fans. it's a half hearted apology. supreme court justice sonia sotomayor going from the bench to the mound to throw out the first pitch at yankee stadium on saturday. a yankees fan from the bronx helped end the strike. the yankees became the first team to earn a spot in the playoffs with a win over the angels last night. and first jack, now jim is out at nascar. the maker of jim beam says the company will no longer spops sponsor, a day after jack daniels said it would stop sponsoring the number 7 car.

sign of the times perhaps. jim beam says it's going to shift ad dollars outside of nascar. this is a guy we can learn from. mark reynolds set a record for the most strikeouts in a season with 206, breaking his own record. he set it last year. but he is still hitting well, his 100th rbi with 43 home runs and the lesson here is when he strikes out he does not hold onto it. he said to reporters, so what, we won, i got 100 rbis. it was a good day. that's sports. you see, you got to focus on the positive. >> you do. >> let it go. >> he doesn't look down upon himself. keep on moving. 100 rbis, not bad. an ohio man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for making his 18-month-old niece smoke marijuana. marvin blevins videotaped himself doing this. it shows him giving the toddler the pipe while his girlfriend held her. the girlfriend got at least six

get your celebrity fix tonight on "showbiz tonight." it's next. tomorrow wake up your news on morning express with me, robin meade. right now on "showbiz tonight," ellen strikes back. ellen degeneres's counter attack on her show aimed at everyone who says she shouldn't replace paula abdul on "american idol." and today for the first time, ellen reveals what she thinks of paula's controversial over the top spoof of ellen on the vh1 diva show. "showbiz tonight" with the must see tv ellen, idol response. tonight, have jon and kate become a laughing stock?
11:01 am
jon and kate gosselin try to get serious with new careers after their split. so, how come everyone's making fun of them? >> you don't love the kids. >> of course i love kids. have you seen my girlfriend? >> tonight, is anyone taking jon and kate seriously? and if you find anyone who does, can you have them give us a call. tonight it's the great showbiz debate, are jon and kate now a laughing stock? plus, "showbiz tonight" uncovers some brand new disturbing information that jennifer aniston is not going to like. and why it could mean big trouble for her future. tv's most provocative entertainment news show starts right now. hello. i'm a.j. hammer broadcasting tonight and every night from new york city. and tonight ellen strikes back
11:02 am
at all that talk that she's no business being the newest judge on "american idol." for the first time, ellen degeneres used her show to strike back at anyone who thinks that she can't fill paula abdul's shoes. wait, there's more. ellen spoke out for the first time about that over the top jaw dropping spoof of her by paula. which is why "showbiz tonight" can tell what you ellen said on her show this afternoon made for big news breaking today. >> apparently there's a lot of debate going on right now whether i'm qualified or not to be the new judge on "american idol." >> on her talk show ellen degeneres did something unusual, she campaign forward a job she already has, the next "american idol" judge. >> i will be kind, i will be compassionate, i will be empathetic and truthful. i will be an honest judge without being mean. >> it's interesting that ellen is kind of still in campaign
11:03 am
mode. >> this is happened already. it's a done deal. nothing is going to change. she is the fourth "american idol" judge. so she doesn't have to win people over. you have to wonder why she is defending herself. >> every good campaign speech need as zinger. ellen covered that today for the first time by going after her idol predecessor, paula abdul. on vh1 paula imitated ellen's dance moves. >> why are you staring at me? can't a girl try out a new job? all kidding aside, nothing but love, ellen. and i wish you the best of luck and congratulations on your new gig. >> today, ellen struck back. >> i have nothing but love for you, too, but i want my wig back. give it back. >> from justin versus kel tee rubin versus clay, to chris vgss have adam, "american idol" has
11:04 am
seen rivalries. could we see one more. ellen versus paula? >> it's kind of funny that now we have this back and forth mocking or playful mocking between paula and ellen. >> paula must have known if you make fun of a comedian you do so at your own risk. >> i don't know what this dance move was that she did, she did like a little pat -- i never patted my butt like that. today i might try it. it's a new move. i'm going to take that in. >> though ellen's new job is inspiring jokes some weren't happy when we found out that ellen would be replacing paula abdul. >> initially some said why is ellen getting this job as judge? she's not a musician, never been a musical performer, she doesn't have musical expertise.
11:05 am
why is she in this spot. >> ellen seriously addressed that issue. well, somewhat seriously. >> the things that people are saying i thought americans moved past this. first we have our first african-american president, we've sworn in -- we've sworn in our first hispanic supreme court justice. and i think "american idol" is ready for their first blond judge. i do. >> both ellen and paula seem to be playing into all of the hype around paula's departure and ellen's arrival at "american idol." >> they are total pros. "american idol" must be thanking the heavens for all of the publicity from this. >> no kidding. so although ellen is defending herself as a judge let's not forget the new season of "american idol" doesn't start until january. joining me in new york, lisa bernheart, and from hollywood
11:06 am
ken baker who is the executive news editor for "e." a lot of people think that ellen as paula's replacement is genius. i happen to be among those people. and a couple of weeks have passed since the big announcement. ken, why do you think ellen felt the need to go on her show and passionately defend herself against the critics? >> well, i personally like ellen, i like the choice. i think she is the ultimate super fan. she has been a fan for years. whether it's genius we'll find out in the ratings. that's what it's about. why did she feel compelled to respond to paula. first, it's comedy. paula opens things up. you can always make fun of her. this has been the criticism of ellen she can have thin skin. i think it's hard for her to take criticism, and she felt compelled to defend herself when i don't think anyone was taking it seriously what paula did. that's the way ellen is. >> and as far as the critics go, i thought she handled them fine
11:07 am
with what she said today. among what ellen said today to respond she's been judged all of her life so she feels she'll be truthful and compassionate as a judge. lisa, you think we've heard the last of ellen on the defense or was today the beginning of that? >> you know, i actually am not sure about that. it's probably the last of it, but i think to pick up on what ken said, what both of you said, i interviewed her as she was about to start this talk show and she is very sensitive because ellen sit com being canceled and coming out she feels like she knows what it's like to have the american public turn against her and i don't think she's ever actually lost that feeling. she was devastated when her sit com was canceled and felt there was backlash when she came out from some of the fans there. she moved years beyond that and is beloved now by so many. but i don't think she ever really forgot what that felt like for her to have the american public turn against
11:08 am
her. i do think she's a little bit still sensitive to that. and, therefore, felt the need to defend herself. she also told tv guide, they released a snippet of an interview where she said she would be a horrible judge on "american idol" because she doesn't like to judge people. if we were held to the words that we once said and wanted to take back, we would be in trouble. i don't fault her for that. >> she made the point she'll have the fans' perspective. >> i thought america moved past this. we have our first african-american president, we've sworn in our first hy-hispanic supreme court justice. and i think "american idol" is ready for their first blond judge. i do. >> very funny, right. i think this is nuts but there are some people who saw this and thought she was making some sort
11:09 am
of a reference to being gay and the fact people won't accept a gay judge. ken, it's obvious to me she was joking, nothing more. why do you think some people may be trying to read so much into this? >> well, i think because you know, like we discussed of her past, her sit com being canceled after she came out to "time" magazine. i think those are real and people remember those. at the same time all of this criticism on the internet and thing likes that, that she's not a good judge, i think that most of those critics are paula abdul fans who badly wanted paula it doesn't matter who they picked. they would do a hate fest. she's getting that right now. >> i wish those people would have more love for ellen. paula had a great sense of humor about it, a few days ago hit the stage dressed as ellen. says she has nothing but love for ellen. i thought it was great how ellen reacted to that. >> i have nothing but love for
11:10 am
you, too, paula but i want my wig back. give me back. and i don't know what this dance move was that she did. she did like a little pat -- i never patted my butt like that. but today i might try it as a new move. she's a choreographer. >> xoxo. is this what ellen needed to do to put the awkward paula thing behind her? >> sure. i think it made all of us laugh. i'll tell you who will have the last laugh will be ellen. all this is how big the ratings are in january when "american idol" premieres. ellen will certainly be the one having the last laugh. >> and the folks loving the publicity. thanks, guys. so have jon and kate gosselin become a total laughing stock? think about this. they are both trying to start new careers but all this talk of clothing lines and tv talk
11:11 am
shows. is anybody really taking these two seriously? come on. i have the great jon and kate debate, also caught on tape. reporters confronted on live tv. >> we're on live with msnbc. please don't touch the microphone. tell us what your thought is. >> you are rude. >> you know how annoying it is people talk in a theater. how about a reporter talks during a political event. you got to see these outbursts. and "showbiz tonight" uncovers new disturbing information about jen aniston. she's not going to like it one bit. why it could mean trouble for her future. now to the showbiz newsroom. looks that kill to liven up a live shot. >> great live television. >> you're causing a disturbance. i must say the showbiz on call lines have been overloaded with so many calling in about whether kate gosselin is exploiting her kids. look at this. the operators barely have time to take care of their own kids because they are working their fingers to the bones fielding all of those calls. maybe we'll update that phone system. we got a call from cindy in louisiana. cindy says if you don't like what kate's doing, don't watch. >> there are those of us who appreciate what kate's doing, we enjoy watching the show. i've enjoyed watching the kids grow, and so we enjoy the show. if you don't like it, there's a thing called the knob and remote. turn it off. >> thanks, cindy. we also heard from shannon who called in from georgia and says kate is using the kids to make money. >> i believe she's exploiting her children because she's
11:19 am
talking about the tv show to raise money. what if there were no tv show. what if there fwhoos tv show. what would she have done. she'd have a job and she'd be supporting her kids any way necessary. >> thank you. melissa from connecticut called in. she says hey, you know what, kate may be a great mom, but she wasn't such a great wife. >> kate gosselin is an awesome mom and she deserves kudos for that. but anybody who has seen her show knows from the beginning she is an awful, awful wife. she's abusive and mean. so, people need to remember that when they're talking about jon. jon deserved to date sweet young things because he's been saddled with a meany for a long time. >> appreciate your call. i know you have an opinion so call us at showbiz on call and let us know what's on your mind about this, about anything.

11:31 am
welcome back to "showbiz tonight." it is 30 minutes past the hour. i'm a.j. hammer broadcasting tonight and every night from new york city, so tonight, have jon and kate become a national laughing stock? what's the deal with jon and kate gosselin? even more jokes were rolling in today about jon and kate. they are no longer beloved family reality show stars, they are now the butt of jokes around the country in a big, big way. wait until you see the brand new riffs, the spoofs and the one-liners flying around about jon and kate. nothing's off limits from jon's philandering to kate's hair style. is this really the way they want people to see them? and joining me, what she really
11:32 am
thinks of kate gosselin after hanging out with kate on the set of "the view." are all of the jokes valid. i sat down with joy as she gets ready to launch her show. i got to tell you she doesn't hold back on the real inside story on kate gosselin. joining me in hollywood is ken baker, the executive news editor for e., lisa bernhard, a journalist. i got to tell you, the back and forth drama of jon and kate gosselin as they go through this messy divorce, really went from being a serious matter on their show "jon & kate plus 8" to being the butt of jokes. here's the latest. jay leno wasting no time getting in a big dig. take a look. >> and last week jon gosselin from jon and kate got a speeding ticket in pennsylvania. apparently he was going nowhere fast. did you see him? did you see him on good morning america last week. he said he was abused when he
11:33 am
was married to kate. she yelled at him, constantly belittled him. and made him do things he didn't want to do. hey, jon. that's called marriage. okay? wake up. >> it seems to me jon and kate have all of this coming if you ask me. ken, are you surprised they have become such a laughing stock or like me it was inevitable? >> well, i think it was inevitable. you know what, sometimes when we're tired of crying we have to laugh. this has been a very sad tragic story for a very long time. but even in its saddest moments of course everyone knew that two things are funny, bad hair and beer guts. you put them on reality stars you're going to laugh. i think that's eventually what's happened. seriously, though. of course there's a tragedy. the one thing that is not funny about this is that there are eight kids caught in the crossfire of a very nasty public divorce. i think that people are now starting to say you know what,
11:34 am
we just got to make fun of this. it's sort of past, it's statute of limitation of tragedy. we have to play it for the humor. i think it's ripe for comedy. >> i didn't know what the statute of limitation was on tragedy. glad you pointed that out. great points. >> all the rules are here. >> appreciate that. what really has struck me about the whole thing it's not jon, it's not kate, neither of them safe from the spoofs and the jokes. kate's reportedly shot this show for her own talk show, a pilot. something she may be doing with paula dean. jon is busy dating his soulmate, 22-year-old haley glassman. jimmy kimmel thinking about the spoof, what a new kate show might be like. >> 16, desperate single women, one available guy. kate gosselin presents who wants to be the underage slut who has sex with my ex-husband wand above the garage while he's
11:35 am
supposed to be watching a litter of kids. >> lisa, when you think about all of the drama about both of them that's been in the news lately, and how jon is with this woman who is 10 years younger, do jon and kate kind of deserve to be a laughing stock? >> i'll tell you, yes, they sort of do. listen. what does it mean when you are made the butt of jokes by guys like jimmy kimmel and jay leno? it means you've arrived. it means you're stars. it means you have officially been ushered into the pop culture firmament. you're in the game, you're brands, i mean i think it only helps anything. his clothing line, her talk show, where she is sitting among lee woodruff, you know, a journalist, and she's among their company and paula dean, a huge star, she is now a huge star. i think these late night talk
11:36 am
show hosts can't help but ignore these people that everybody is talking about. i think a.j., you and i and most of your guests haven't we been having fun for them for some months before jay and the rest of them. >> it's true. no. if that's your definition of having arrived i think it happened sometime ago. when you think about good friend of "showbiz tonight" kathy griffin, now she's making a living off taking stabs at jon and kate for months. check out the spoof that she did for jimmy kimmel live. >> she was a mother. >> i told you monsters to cram it. mommy's doing a satellite feed with regis. >> but mom, we're thirsty. >> wa-wa-wa. drink the tears of fame. >> it's not just kate at the butt of jokes. kathy griffin did not hold back when she told me what she thinks of jon. >> he's a tool. you know, i know people think she's a nightmare and want to
11:37 am
say she's horrible. he's a tool rolling his eyes. it's kate plus nine and she's another win wer the tummy tuck and you know, my mother didn't have a tummy tuck. she has a box of wine and a mumu. >> lisa think this is could help. when comedians make these jokes could it possibly ruin each chance of being taken seriously. they are trying to strike out and create serious careers outside of the reality show. >> yeah. hold on one second. kids, shut up. okay. now. back to important business. no, you don't have a drink. really what it is is look, jon gosselin is not running for senator of pennsylvania. he's running to get another reality show. okay. so, and the last i checked he wants to do a reality show as a divorced dad trying to move on. he know what is he is, what his brand is and it's not barack obama. his brand is more you know, like joe six pack. it doesn't -- yeah. i think it's going to be totally
11:38 am
fine. >> joy behar stopped by this afternoon and told me what she thinks about jon and kate. and by the warks i must point out that joy's show "the joy behar show" debuting tuesday, september 29, 9:00 p.m., you want to watch it every week day on hln. joy did not hold back with me when i asked her what she thought about the goeslines becoming a laughing stock. >> i think they have all of these kids they have to support. they will do what they have to do to make money. i can't fault her. she needs to make money to support those children. >> kate's trying to get her own talk show, jon dabbling with a fashion line. lisa, are you with joy that hey, they don't care what people think of them as long as people are talking about them, making money for themselves and the kids. >> i think that's absolutely the case. look, i think that's what being in pop culture is about these days. i think for a lot of people. you realize that there's you know, we've been saying this for a while but there's not --
11:39 am
really no such thing as bad publicity unless you murder somebody or do something so heinous, there isn't such a thing as bad publicity. >> thanks, guys. what do you think? have jon and kate become a punch line. it's our question of the day. jon and kate, have they become a laughing stock? vote. e-mail us. i got to tell you if jennifer aniston doesn't pick her next jobs more carefully she could become a laughing stock of hollywood. i uncovered absolutely shocking news that could affect jennifer aniston's future. let me tell you, she will not like this. also making news, tyra banks' shocking racism confessions to larry king. >> larry: did you feel in your life looked down upon because of your color? >> this is unbelievable. just a short time ago tonight tyra, one of the biggest super models opens up how she was a

"showbiz tonight" uncovered new disturbing information that jennifer aniston is not going to like. her brand new movie "love happens" was a bona fide flop when it opened over the weekend. have no fear, because "showbiz tonight" has been digging deep all day looking for answers why this happened to poor jen. you will not believe what we uncovered. also new, tyra banks made a shocking claim on television saying that she was a victim of racism. you have got to hear why tyra is making the claim. joining me is a publicist and brand strategist and a contributing editor for life and style weekly. the bad news for jennifer aniston. her new movie really just tanked over the weekend at the box office. look at how everything stacked up. "cloudy with a chance of meatballs" $30 million. matt damon's film $10 million.
11:45 am
jennifer's movie at four, only made $8 million. that's despite a bunch of publicity. "showbiz tonight" has bad news for jennifer aniston. we asked on air and on line in our question of the day, this. jennifer aniston's movie flops, are you surprised and look at the new results that came in late today. a whopping 83% said no. they're not surprised that her movie flopped. only 17% said they are surprised. rachel, first to you. this has to be bad news for jennifer that so many expected this to happen. >> absolutely. i mean, love doesn't happen for her in real life and did not happen for her at the box office. it's actually not that surprising. she was our favorite friend on tv but in the movies people want a change. they are sick of her playing the girlfriend, the wife, i mean truthfully out of over more than 20 movies probably that she made only three have passed the $100 million mark. two of those were with huge

leading men. one was based on a best selling book so it's not that surprising. but i'm rooting for her. we love her, she's a great actress. >> i'm with you. i love her, too. i'm disappointed to see this. i thought maybe she'd have a hit. this was her worst opening in years. if jen were your client and she heard so many expected her to fail, this is news that she has got to find hard to take. >> i'm sure she does, but at the same time jennifer aniston has a very strong brand in hollywood. she graces the cover of numerous magazines and you know, like rachel said, maybe folks are tired of seeing her in the same type of movie. i would stretch a little bit and maybe do something that folks aren't expecting to see her in. i think they are probably tired of the same jen they have seen. >> this is the vibe from the e-mails flooded in. it would seem that there's even more bad news for jennifer on our facebook page, too.
11:47 am
it's been inundated. some of what we've got. news flash. jennifer aniston can't act. she plays the same role in every movie. who wants to see rachel in five different movies. dig deeper. so rachel, to your point earlier, do you think erica has a point saying jennifer is losing her box office mojo. >> first of all, i think saying she can't act is not true. i think she is quite a good actress. we've seen that. "friends with money," "the good girl." i think it's about we want to see her i think playing her sexuality more, be a bond girl, do something fun and sexy. jen could do something different. >> you think that jen needs to issue a cease and desist order to her agent saying no more romantic comedies. >> i think so. we should see jen be a bad girl for a change. i think it was always good girl versus bad girl when it was her

and angelina. angelina stretched it. i think we should see jen expand her brand and go for roles not typical of the roles she's taken in the past. >> i want to move on to tyra banks' bombshell confession she was a victim of racism. she made the claim in an interview that aired a couple of hours ago on larry binge king live. you got to watch when larry asked tyra if she was treated differently because of the color of her skin. >> larry: did you feel in your life looked down upon because of your color? >> most definitely. that's just the state of who we are. but it makes me stronger. it makes me stronger and makes me open up my arms with love as opposed to feeling angry about it. >> larry: you faced it in modeling. >> every day of my career i was told i couldn't do certain things. every day even as one of the top super models of the world i heard that. >> i found it disturbing that
11:49 am
tyra bankses was dealing with this throughout her career. marvet, does it surprise you this would keep happening even after tyra became a super model and so established >> am i surprised that racism still happens? it still is happening. i'm not surprised at all. i went to fashion week shows, at least ten shows, there wasn't one black model in the shows. african-americans, contribute to the bottom line of the fashion industry, yet we're underrepresented as a whole in ad campaigns, and in shows. and beyond. you don't see that many african-americans grace the cover of "vogue," any of the top fashion books. i'm not surprised at all. the same thing that naomi campbell has been saying. >> thank you so much for being with us. appreciate it. right now jennifer garner's camel confessions. i'm talking about camels as in desert up-ps, that sort of thing. "showbiz tonight" caught up with her at the premiere of her new
11:50 am
movie. it's an interesting movie and in it lying doesn't exist. i love this. everybody tells the truth. so of course we had to ask jennifer what's the biggest lie she ever told that she later that she later regretted. watch this. >> i went to camp when i was 9 or 10 and i told everyone there that i had a camel in my basement. and in west virginia. we had turned my basement into a sahara and kind of environment and we kept a camel. and my sister, who looks a lot like me, was somewhere years later and this woman said, oh, we went to camp together. you had a camel. and melissa said, no, that would be my little sister, definitely. you've met jennifer. >> let that be a lesson to you, don't ever keep a camel in a basement. i must say this brand new stuff that i'm reading about christina aguilera's childhood is just so painful. making news right now, kristina opening up about claims that her
