"star wars" is not actually on a deserted planet. they do everything in front of the green screen or the blue screen and then erase that color so that they can put up any background they want to. that is a floor of congress. >> where did you get this idea? >> it was really started out to make music videos. all of you are of us are musicians. that is our background. -- all four of us are musicians. maybe one-and-a-half years ago, michael was making a video about the presidential election and it was around the time of the debates. step-by-step, we came up with these other ideas. maybe in addition to a music video, we could make it sound like the politicians that are in the video could be participating. they could be singing a duet with us if we use this technology to turn their spoken word into what sounds like singing.

after that worked, we had the idea that we would like to do this again. we thought it was fun. we wanted to do something that was catchy and interesting. we turned episodic. we looked at current events. >> michael, you had the interview with the obama girl. who is she? >> she rose to prominence during the 2008 campaign. i think it was early on. she put out this video called "i've got a crush on obama." it got millions of hits. ♪ >> hey, baby, i was watching you on c-span. anyway. call me back. ♪ you stroll out onto the floor democratic convention, 2004 i never wanted anybody more than i want you. so i put down my kerry sign.

in truth, it takes a little bit of work and a little bit of manual intervention on the computer to make people sound like they are singing. >> how much does politics drive this? what does that have to do with what you are doing? >> the reason we chose politics is because when we watch current events, we can keep updating the series more methodically than any other subject. there is also an interest there. >> it seems to be the area of interest that was most in need of a backbeat. when we watch the news and political coverage, there seems to be a lack of music behind what people are saying. we bought at was avoid we could fill. -- we thought that was a and void -- a void we could fill. >> how old are you guys? >> i will be 13 next week. >> michael? >> i am already 16. >> who is the oldest? >> kevin is actually the oldest.

-- evan is the oldest. >> what school did you attend? >> i attended college in 2001. >> i graduated in 2007. -- appalachian state in 2007. >> the "turtle fence"? >> that particular -- we held onto that for awhile. it is several weeks old. a man from michigan was explaining against the health care debate in kind of a big government versus small government type of speech. if the government get involved in health care, they are going to mess it up. he came about it in a curveball way. he used an example from his home state where the government required the construction of a turtle fence around the highway to protect turtles from cars. it did not work out so well.
