ways that bring us toward the end, not just talking to each other and constructively. i think saving the planet and creating jobs can be an end. complement charlotte. complement florida power and light. governments are working in ways that they never have before. it is not that difficult to do. public-private partnerships are a way of doing that. we communicate with citizens through high definition video capability. our time with customers has doubled. why should we not live by example in our political life? once you get used to it, it is great to be in there.

>> i love the way you talk about all of these issues as an integrated whole, as opposed to disparate elements of spinning out by themselves. we will take questions from the audience. >> anything is fair game except for how is my quarter going and doom are we buying next -- who are we buying next? [laughter] >> my question is, we are very aware of cisco's commitment to the human network. what in the nature of video itself as opposed to voice or data has used so passionate? -- you so passionate?

>> if you think about the way we communicate, whether it is with our kids, our peers, watching a sporting event, how do we really communicate? 90% of the networks, within three years, will be video. video health care, a video collaboration, all of the devices cisco has made, everything will be video enabled so that the network figures out where to go, what is your screen size, etc., so you will suddenly be able to figure out where your data is going to go. 90% of the storage will be video. we will build the architecture

of of media nets that allows you to push it out to communities of interest. it will be like our children do on social networking. we combined youtube and face but into a business architecture with security -- facebook into a business architecture with security. let me talk about it in terms of products. for the first time in our history, our top product lines are all brand new within the last 18 months. yet, at the same time, we came out with 10 new products in the last six-nine months. we created a business tablet,

much like apple did in the commercial world. we are now doing 30 products at the same time. talk about productivity and speed. video collaboration underlines our ability to move on with that speed. years from now, you are going to be saying, john, you underestimated what video can do. it is the next frontier. it allows you to do health care and education in a way that your children or grandparents understand it. you suddenly get researchers together with the capability to talk, like ge is doing. the majority of american countries will be in the emerging markets. you either have to hire people

there, or bring the talent there to here. in india, they do virtual chat rooms where they have almost all of their employees from western europe and the u.s. they can be in one country for one meeting, the next country for the next. >> you are really good at making complex things simple. your last comment actually creates an opportunity to speak to an issue that i know is on the minds of a lot of people, which is, how does the work that you are doing in all of those markets around the world that you just described, really benefit people back here? >> at first, at the emerging markets followed what was done

in the united states and europe. they were about 5-10 years behind. now they're about 5-10 years ahead. i can take what i learned in india, china, jordan, mexico, and bring it back to the u.s. or western europe. after the terrible earthquake occurred in china, we were one of the first companies that was not chinese to see what occurred. 374,000 people seriously injured. the health care system came tumbling down. you could not get people to the hospital. the education system was broken. when we went in there, we said rather than build it the way it was, let's build the next

generation of health care and the next generation school. we put in the technologies, and the chinese and the u.s. work together. it is much like what secretary clinton is now doing in the middle east. as we did that, the chinese families did not really need our help. they handled this with remarkable skill. imagine if you were in appellation and you could only get there with one road and that and youin appellation alacia could only get there with one road and that road was destroyed. we did it so quickly without government regulation, and we

brought back to the u.s. we put these technologies across california. we are looking at how we might do this for health care in remote areas. you take a you learn any make adjustments on a new bases. everyone in the world still wants to be like america. but we can also bring benefits back. it is one on one correlation. we take care of our employees. we are usually one of the top 10 places to work in any country in the world. doing the right thing is good for business.

>> my name is monica fitzgerald. i love have you got the better humanity and including everyone. it brings up the question of accessibility. we talked about sustainability and security, but how do we create an infrastructure, from your position, do you work to make sure that everyone is going to have the opportunity to take place in a collaborative environment? what if they cannot hear or cannot see? >> this is where government and business have to work much harder together. i think the number one goal whether you are in india, jordan, russia, mexico, u.s., u.k., should be the same. it ought to be broad band to every citizen at an affordable cost with the least two technology options. that ought to be the overriding objective. do not get tangled up in the

politics of the net neutrality issue. for a person and montana who has no wireless capability, they do not care. then you ask, how do you make that happen? there are very logical issues regarding what the government should set -- should supply. you have to get the return on investment. they do not get a return, they're not going to build out. i think the technology at an affordable cost is there in this country and around the world. i talked to the leader of rwanda. he is doing it in his country. the king of jordan is committed to providing health care across this country to every citizen. talk about education. the key for all of this is accessibility.

this is the interstate highway of the future. people talk about innovate in -- innovating the economy and they say let's rebuild the highway system. it does need to be rebuilt, but it will not create a multiplier effect. when the highways were first built, they led to hotels, stores, communities. there was a multiplier. i think the biggest challenge, if you look to the future, will be education, how well they do infrastructure broadband, how well they do innovation, and how groups to have never worked together can work together. it is a long way of saying that technology is not a problem. it is government and business working together. using cisco telecommunications. [laughter]
