guest: we are going to see an evaluation across the board of how we spend the money. in the end, a highly and educated labor force can adapt to different circumstances more quickly and easily. it generates a high level of productivity. we are spending twice the money in inflation adjusted dollars. we have fallen down in the ranks of the international community in the last two decades. we have an education system that is broken. in large cities, half of the students are not graduating. when they graduate, they are not ready for a double work. host: one more call from wilmington, north carolina. republican line. caller: this is the first time i

have ever gotten involved in politics. i became involved in it because i was so angry about the direction that our country is going. i think everybody hears about the poor. we have gotten to a point in this country where young people are starting families when they have not finished in education. they are have been numerous children. they are not even finishing high school. i see them and i feel terribly sorry for them. but personal responsibility is what is bringing this country down. people are not taking responsibility for their actions. when you get a little older and you look back over your life,

you realize the mistakes you make are directly toward the errors he made. guest: i can concur with that completely. there has always been a great discussion on these issues of family formation and economic success. on the left and on the right, it is clear that you must finish school, get a job, get married, have kids. do it in another order and it is a rr success. host: what happens on generate first of 2011. guest: a big tax increase for everybody. it can reduce growth by 1.5 percentage points. it is highly undesirable in my view.

of the worl the economic battles for these areas is fierce. as i have said many times, america's not take second place. the future we are not -- we are fighting for is not imports. it is the world's largest manufacturer of ideas. this will create new jobs for american workers. it will help us reduce our deficit. the single greatest tool for getting our fiscal house in order is ribble -- robust economic growth. that will ensure that our students are getting the best it is -- a vacation possible. it will help us rebuild our roads and railways so that our infrastructure is up to the challenges of the 21st century. given the deficits that have mounted over the past decade, we cannot afford to make these investments unless we make cuts. i have submitted a three year

budget freeze. as we work to reform our budget, congress should also put their spin in the game. i agree with republicans and democratic members of congress who recently said we cannot afford what are called earmarks. these are items inserted into spending bills by members of congress without adequate review. some of these earmarks support projects in our local community. many others do not. we cannot afford which is to know where -- to know where like the one that was planned in alaska. when it comes to selling our commitment to fiscal responsibility, addressing them will have an important impact. at a center, i help eliminate --as a senator, i help eliminate some earmarks. as president, i have called for new limitations on your marks.

we reduced the cost of earmarked by over $3 million. we have increased transparency by putting as much information on earmarkes.gov. we updated it and make it easier to look up earmarks. today, we have a chance to go forward. we have a chance to shine a light on a bad habit that wastes billions of taxpayer dollars. also today -- also to rebuild trust. we can put our country on the past of -- path of fiscal discipline that will lead to a brighter future for all. i hope we can reach across party lines to get it. thank you and have a great weekend. i am a congressman from oregon.

americans want the government to be smaller and less intrusive. they want health care reform that protect jobs instead of the government takeover that is costing jobs. it wants congress to respect their will and our our constitution. these priorities are embodied in the pledge to america. if the government agenda puppets on creating jobs and reforming congress -- the people's priorities will be our priority. i ran a small business for more than 20 years. now turn around succeed without a change in culture. washington has been doing what is that our washington and getting away with it. often, accountability account for nothing. common sense is an endangered species. that is why our leader, john boehner, has pledged to run the

house of representatives differently that it has been run the past. he has asked me to help serve as the people's voice. he has assembled a transition team of probe and reformers, including citizens newly elected to congress who jump at the opportunity to begin changing times before being sworn in. the incoming republican freshmen class have never served in elecd office before. they bri a fresh perspective and energy and intelligence that we want to into how we implement reform and give the government back to the people. we're not only including debt into the transition for a new majority, but giving them a seat at the leadership table in the next congress. we have beg a initiating changes to open up th peoe's house, including installing cameras in the powerful rules committee. that is where amendments come to
