6:15 pm
one reason is for the doppler plan search. we can see that the gas planets are less common than the low mass planets. these rise towards the lower- mass planets. we were pounding away on this wall, trying to get a few of the planets that are three or four or five times the size of the earth. what kepler has done, this has extended a bridge, to expand the knowledge and the amazing thing to remember is the detection of the large plants will always be easier than the detection of the small plants.
6:16 pm
even on these candidates, this is possibly 20% and we can see that this fraction, the rate of the current plans, this goes all the way down to neptune. these numbers are solid. and we can see the small number of planets is growing. this may be a planet desert. the second amazing thing is that it is difficult to untangle the multiple plant system. and we can see that almost one in five of these transiting stars as at least one other plant.
6:17 pm
and kepler 11 has been absolutely staggering with its results. with these five plants in the system, this will be momentous. this shows a planetary system with several small planets seemed to be common. the third thing, this is reaching out to a different part of the milky way galaxy. i think that this shows us that the neighborhood of the galaxy looks a lot like our own neighborhood. this is important if we're trying to make extrapolations about life. and i can talk about the enthusiasm of the public.
6:18 pm
we were so excited when we saw this, that we had teamed up with the citizens alliance, and the milky way galaxy. we were letting the public participate in discovering these plants. we discovered this among ourselves. and there was a 50-50 chance that this project would not be working. galaxies show was beautiful pictures. we see the brightness measurements of these stars. we have 16,000 designated users. this is in turkey and russia, in brazil and argentina, one country after another. we have 1.3 million classifications.
6:19 pm
we have identified hundreds of these candidates, and existed -- and increasing the by their systems. it is interesting to see if we have any matches. 12 hours ago, that had essentially quadrupled the amount of public release information into the archives on the accelerated schedule. this is very wonderful. we hear from the teachers who are using disinformation in the school curriculum, just because they know that the payoff is going to be enormous. >> they found several transiting planets.
6:20 pm
another person commented that they have seen this information and they were looking into this. what we hear, is they get to contribute to real research. i just want to echo this, that i want to thank the caplet team for all this information that they have provided. >> thank you. >> listen to historic supreme court cases on c-span radio. from 2003, the considering of the fair housing act and racial discrimination in meyer v. holley. the complaint said that he should be liable because he was

economic policies, that have been said to create unsustainable deficits. >> this week, we were told that we were moving in the right direction but we need to get there more quickly. the bipartisan tax cuts that we passed in december will add to job creation and economic growth. this is making the paychecks of americans will larger, and helping to invest. but the true measure of progress is that every american who wants to have a job can find a job. people in this country can still achieve the american dream. this is the process. in the global economy, the newest industries will take root and the strongest commitment to
6:24 pm
research and technology, this will help with -- we have to innovate more than the rest of the world. students and researchers are leading the way on innovation and they are taking up the challenge all across the country. if you focus on tackling the biggest obstacles, with clean, affordable energy, we will get behind your work. the people in pennsylvania are trying to save more energy, with more efficient lighting, and better heating and cooling. this will not just cut down on energy consumption, this will save money on energy bills. and this will lead to new jobs
6:25 pm
we have seen a maryland window manufacturer boost this and a manufacturer in pennsylvania saw an increase in business by $1 million. they were provided tax credit and financing opportunities and this is what we want to do going forward. we have the discoveries that are made, and the businesses sell these discoveries. we have buildings that save more energy and hire more workers. and that is how all of this is possible and how we will win the future. we will have the best infrastructure and the best way to innovate. i will visit marquette, mich. we're working to connect this to the rest of the world.
6:26 pm
the cutting edge innovation is our responsibility. if we make america the best place to do business, the businesses should make their place america. we should invest in the future of this nation. this is the information i will bring to the chamber of commerce on monday. we have mutual responsibilities. we can fill these obligations together and it will benefit the workers, who will succeed. and america will be winning the future, just like we did in the last. >> i served as the no. 2 republican on the house budget committee. some of you may have seen last week, when we asked the president if this would increase
6:27 pm
the cost of government, up from the traditional 20%. the president declined to answer the question, but he certainly answer did this week, and this was exactly what i was afraid of. this is a 8.3 trillion dollars in spending. and there is a tripling of the national debt. interest payments alone on the debt -- these were set at $6 trillion over the last decade. you are probably like me and you believe that you should work hard, the day. and you will be more prosperous tomorrow. let's let the government rest easier today and we will work harder tomorrow. about the same time last year,
6:28 pm
president obama promised that if we pass the stimulus bill, that jobs would be created immediately. they said this would be below 8%. we offered a better alternative that the economic advisers say would have created more jobs. the democrats jammed through their stimulus. the american people got a bill for $1.20 trillion and 3 million more jobs lost. america is still asking, where are the jobs? all that we get from washington is more spending and more taxes, and more debt, and more bailout. i agree with about 80% of what the president says, but i disagree with 80% of what he does.
6:29 pm
he sends the problem to a commission that does not exist. this may never see the light of day. the proposed spending freeze -- this is not really a freeze at all. this does not turn on the freezer until next year. when you run the numbers, the idea of fiscal responsibility increases, this is 0.1%. and we have to do better. this requires more than just tinkering around. we have proposed strict budget caps, and these are enforceable by the president. by the president.
