6:41 pm
satellite tv, instead of broadcast tv? >> we do not view google tv as an alternative to cable tv. we see it as an enhancement to your live tv experience, the same way that mobile phones did not eliminate land line phone and cable did not a limit broadcast. we think smart tv ads and enhances cable subscription viewing. but what is unique is that we are built to work with enhancing experiences. a couple of particular things -- one, there is zero input switching. if you are watching live tv, you can press the home but in on your remote. this is one of the remotes, the initial remote that sony has built. you can get to a home screen launcher. this is a view of some of the
6:42 pm
apps, which are customizable. you can customize these apps. if there is one in particular you always use, you can select that. the key is that you are not having to go from input 12 input two. you can quickly go from live tv to whether video content. googled tv is really about bringing millions of channels of web video to the television. one of the ways that we are doing that is that we are building a discovery experience for google tv that gives you a view not only of what is available to you, online -- on live tv -- >> but also broadcast, cable channels. >> if you have a subscription, when he set it up and tell it that you live in a particular zip code, we tell you what is available to you through that lived subscription today.

motorola is having a display here -- what are you showing to the members of congress and their staff? >> we're showing our latest and hottest devices. this is the motorola droid razr max. it is our hottest device. it is beautiful, thin -- look tough and that is. it feels great in your hand. the best thing i think about it is the battery life. there is not a single device in the market that can compete with the motorola droid razr max. you can talk on this on for 21 hours straight without having to recharge. it is great for somebody like me who is always forgetting to recharge their front.
6:48 pm
-- a phone. i just got it. i cannot say enough good things about the. >> what is important about this to show to policy makers here? >> it is really important. it is showing that we are continuing to leave of the technology. there are a number of changes in battery life, and motorola is absolutely being in that. the thing about a lot of our front is that they are great for personal use, but also enterprise-ready. i think that is something that policymakers will want to see. >> you also have some other equipment over here on the side. >> this is one of our hottest products -- people are really excited about this. we introduced this at the same time that we launched another product. this is another first -- the world's first gps fitness
6:49 pm
tractor and music player. it can track of your fitness performance. when we had this, you could actually track how many steps you went, how many calories you burned, how many calories you ate -- everything. you can only imagine -- it was pretty mind-blowing. what i love about this is the mp three music player. everybody loves working out to music. the work better with some songs than others. you have never been able to prove it was science -- now you can. this product will track which sons to work out better to and create custom playlists so you always work out better. >> what else you have over there in terre -- over their? >> we have been talking for
6:50 pm
years about making the next phone -- the home smart. we are making it simple. motorola launched our home a platform. this is software from late last year. now, consumers can stay connected to your home wherever you go. what does that mean? verizon is offering a number of different speeders -- indoor cameras, door locks, wireless sensors. this is really easy -- you can see what is going on in your home, whether you want to lower your energy consumption during peak hours for a lower energy bill, or if you go on vacation and realize that you forgot to turn off the air conditioner -- now with a push of a button
6:51 pm

6:52 pm
>> mobile-based -- mobil for us means through e-mail, goodlatte taught at home, a tablet, an html link through an asset mass app.n sms, or an we curate content from all over the web to give you more of a well-rounded view of the news. then retract that and cluster you with other individuals in the back -- we find issue symmetry, where we of line, and issues where you are a part. this in your activity, as you read what is most important for you. >> -- based on your activity, you rate what is most important for you. >> if we sign up, what kind of information do we give? >> you can download the app to the itunes store or go to the web page. it is either votify.com, you can
6:53 pm
register with facebook or an e- mail or sms, and to answer a series of questions. those start to formulate your profile. you see news articles to like -- you can read them. you can have discussions if you like -- you can start one, or c one that is going on -- c one that is going on at the time. we did one on a national meet all day, march 9 -- how you like meatballs? not political, but there was a lot of activity. the more you participate, with news articles and surveys and polls, the more refined your profile gets. it starts to show you where you break down on the issues. >> what do you do with that information? to use aldrich to campaigns? >> -- do you sell it to campaigns? >> we've had 1.2 million
6:54 pm
questions answered since june of last year. we are building a network that operates as a separate connection point to the american population to communicate about politics, civil discourse, and engagement. part of a challenge the politicians are having now is that poland is tied primarily to landlines -- polling is tied to land lines, and americans are abandoning landlines at a rate of 700,000 a month. how you have a realistic data capture? we are solving that problem. we can sell big block data involving trends and issues, or even pull people -- poll people by sending them questions. >> what is your background? >> i was a practicing lawyer, but i have been a political junkie my entire life. i worked in my first campaign in 1972 for george mcgovern.
6:55 pm
in my family, i had when nixon vote for and won the governor -- then you had watergate, the carter years, iran contra -- i always stayed involved, but then i took more of the traditional path into the practice of law. i had my own law firm for 14 years. then, in 2008, we were putting their kids on a bus stop and everybody was complaining about the robocalls. one guy was not complaining. i asked him why -- he did not have a land mine. i realize i should start a mobile phone-based polling company. nobody knows what i think about anything. i left the practice of law in november. we have to start a company -- we have been fortunate to have folks bring us down here today.
6:56 pm
i was just down in austin at south by southwest, where we were finalists in the accelerator competition for hot new mobile companies. it has been great. a lot of fun so far. >> if people want to sign up, what is the website? >> www.votify.com. >> president and founder of votifi. -- votifi.com >> here on display is mobileye. could you start by telling us what this is? >> this is a company that manufactures collision prevention systems based on artificial vision. we manufacture cameras. it works like an electronic eye. you install it in your car, and your car can see and help to avoid accidents with cars, with
6:57 pm
pedestrians, with cyclists. many things that can help the driver in order to help him, you know, get to work safely. >> where did the idea come from? >> the technology was shot by us. the idea was that today, 92% of accidents are because of the driver. 80% are because of inattention -- driver inattention to everybody else, driver distraction, a big industry issue. how can we help the driver? we take this element -- remove this element from the equation and make sure the driver -- to help the driver, we are using our eyes to drive and see what is around us -- that drove the idea. >> you have the video plan you are on the screen. what are we seeing?
6:58 pm
>> this is actually what happens inside the camera. they're all the pedestrians, all the objects -- when you drive, the mobileye system is quiet, but we discuss everything, analyze everything, watch for every one of the pedestrians. this is actually a benefit -- we have a system that will cover your back when you are driving. >> this is what the camera is seeing. is this what the user is also seeing? >> no. that would be a distraction. the user just gets a warning. on the right, these are the kinds of warnings the user can get -- it can connect to a softened by bluetooth or on a dedicated screen that would show the user what kinds of warnings are happening.
6:59 pm
also, an audio warning that there is danger. you hear the noise, it tells you exactly what is wrong, and you can apply the brakes or use the steering wheel to avoid it. >> why are you on capitol hill? what is the importance of showing this to politicians? >> today, everybody is involved with distractive drive-in -- distracted grabbing. we want people to be safer. we think that there are many people who can use this technology in order to save lives. >> is this yet available? >> this is available for consumers right now. we're working with several retail chains and getting more and more into the retail markets.
