>> good morning ladies and gentlemen. welcome to all of you who come to the correctional facility to witness this visit by pope. the holy father of the roman catholic church. your holiness, we are joined this morning by our mayor and many of our state legislators, members of city council and other justice officials. and prison staff. more importantly, assembled before you are the men and women you saw to meet. they come together in the spirit of hope to receive your message. squeezed into an authority understand that love and respect as well as the spirit of hope and forgiveness must help of the present the combined -- confined. all of us have eagerly anticipated this day. i know i speak for everyone saying this extraordinary event will be in our hearts and minds forever.

>> life means getting our feet dirty. from the dust filled roads of life and history, all of us have feet who need. to be cleansed and washed. all of us. and me in first place. all of us need to seek out the teacher who will help us resume our journey. the lord goes to all of us and it stretches out a helping hand. it is painful when we see prison systems which are not concerned to soothe pain and offer new possibilities. it is painful when we see people who think that only others need to be cleansed and peer a fight and do not recognize that their others need to be

cleansed and purified, and do not recognize that their wariness and pain -- the table from which he wishes no one to be excluded. the table which is spread for all and to which all of us are invited. pope francis: [speaking spanish]
