jobs in the account of a and we will have live coverage at 2:30 p.m. eastern you're on c-span. the democratic nomination, senator bernie sanders, is campaigning in kentucky. live coverage of his louisville begins at 7:30 p.m. eastern and here is more on today's indiana primary. joining us on the phone is tony cook, a reporter for the "indianapolis star." good morning. thanks for joining us. and the all important delegate count, what does it mean for indiana terms of delegates, both for republicans and democrats? guest: it's especially important on the republican side, where this is sort of ted cruz's last best chance to stop donald trump and lock up the nomination and prevents a contested convention. trump -- is not possible for him to reach the number he needs today. but looking ahead to the states that are going to be voting, between now and the convention,

indiana really is, for ted cruz, one of his last best chances to try and halt donald trump, especially with the momentum the trunk has coming off of the win -- that trump has coming off of the wins in in new york and five other mid-atlantic in northeastern states. host: how many republin delegates are involved, and how are they apportioned? guest: there are 57 delegates at stake in indiana today. most of those are winner take all. whoever wins statewide will win 30 of those delegates. the other 27 delegates are divvied out to the winner of each of indiana's nine congressional districts. each congressional district has three delegates up for grabs. so it's possible that one of the other candidates who doesn't win could get 3, 6, 9 delegates.

but most of the delegates will be awarded to the winner. which is why it's pretty high stakes here in indiana. host: as far as polling is concerned, our public inside, -- on the republican side who is , ahead? guest: most of the polls are showing donald trump as a lead. -- has a lead. one shows ted cruz in the lead, but i think there is more than half a dozen others that show trump in the lead. he is leading here but the polling has been erratic. it's hard to know how much stock to put in those. host: mr. cook, we saw indiana's governor endorsed ted cruz, we saw him choose carly fiorina. any of those showing any momentum for ted cruz? guest: it's hard to say, it's been wild, that's for sure. this week, he is starting to deal with john kasich, where he

agreed not to campaign here, and ted cruz agreed not to campaign in these two western states. that shook things up little bit, at least, ted cruz was hoping it would, turning it into the first two-man race of the primary season. and then he announced that carly fiorina would be his running mate, which is pretty unprecedented. candidates don't typically do that until after they locked up the nomination. and then more recently, he announced -- governor pence here in indiana endorsed ted cruz. it's been almost daily efforts from ted cruz to shake up this race and try to gain an ad share on trump. -- an edge on trump. i think today is the poll that is going to tell us whether those efforts are working or not. host: before we let you go, on the democratic side, hillary

clinton has a lead they are in indiana. what did that mean for democrats, and have we seen a lot of effort from both hillary clinton and bernie sanders in the state? guest: you seem more effort from bernie sanders, although both candidates have been there several times. for sanders, it's an opportunity for him to try and slow hillary's -- what seems at this point to be a pretty sure bet for her getting the nomination. but indiana has a lot of factory workers, a lot of those workers are finding bernie's message appealing. it is closer here that it has been in some of the other states. for sanders, this is really an opportunity to try and make sure that his message stays out there, that he plays a role in shaping the message of the nominating process moves forward.

host: tony cook with the indianapolis star, talking about the primary that takes place in indiana today. thank you for your time. guest: thank you. >> a reminder that we will have primary results and candidates pitches and your results to the indiana primary tonight on the c-span networks. there are 57 republican and 92 democratic delegates at stake in the hoosier state. last night, senator ted cruz and carly fiorina addressed supporters at the indiana state fairgrounds and he outlined his plan to create jobs and stop illegal immigration. >> hello, hoosiers. hello, hoosiers. thank you.

thank you so much. right, thelenn is people of the hoosier state have a really important role tomorrow. and a really important choice tomorrow. and a really important decision tomorrow that will reverberate across this nation. you all are here because you already know the right thing to do. one thing i would like to do today is help you go out tonight and tomorrow and convince some people who may not have figured out the right thing to do yet. is thing is, this election about so much more than ted cruz and carlyfiorina. it's all of our fight. this is a fight, folks, for the sole of our party and the future of our nation and we need every

single one of you signed up to be warriors in this fight with us. i want to give you some ammunition. let me start by telling you about the man i have come to know. i did not know ted cruz knew what het i believed. and what he has done and i think you know someone through the pattern of their life. i knew, looking at the pattern of his life, was this was a man who is grounded in faith come a grounded in the constitution and he stood up against the system. i did not really know him. him, ivoted for suspended my own presidential campaign because there was no path to victory for me. i believe that once you don't have a path to victory, your

duty is to help a fellow conservative who can win. wish john kasich would get the memo. kasich, you cannot lose 49 out of 50 times and get the nomination. tell your friends if they are thinking of voting for john kasich, a vote for john is a vote for donald trump. it's a big top out. you've got a real clear choice. in any event, i went to the voting booth and my dear husband , hek of 32 years said to me said i'm voting for you, honey. ok, he is my husband, you know. i went and the voting booth and i looked at that ballot. my own name was on the ballot. that is kind of a thrill, have to tell you. i have to be honest and say for a moment, i paused because i thought about all her supporters, the people who

worked so hard for us and i thought, why did i run? believe?i what am i fighting for question mark i said iran and i am fighting for a constitutional conservative to be in the white house and i am fighting for someone who knows this is a fight and who will be a fearless warrior on our behalf and i checked that box for ted cruz. and then and only then did i sit down and have a conversation with him. i had met him behind stage at the debate but those are not exactly social gatherings. we sat down for an hour and i wanted to help. since that time i have been on a bus campaigning with him for about seven weeks and you get to know someone on a bus for seven weeks. let me tell you about the guy i have come to know. we have been joined by some of his friends, some of his lifelong friends whether it is

his college roommate or louie gohmert. such a great guy. utah wholeigh from stood in battle with him in the senate area and i would rather have mike leigh and louie gohmert. i would rather have them for friends than john boehner. all those friends say the same thing. they all say the same thing. they say he is exactly the same. behind closed doors and just with us kicking back as he is in public i bring that up because someone who endorsed donald trump recently, ben carson, ben carson said he endorsed donald trump. he is one guy and private and one guy in public. think about that, ladies and gentlemen. the most important decisions are made in privates we better know what we are getting.

we had better know when someone sitting in private what kind of supreme court justice they are going to nominate. we better know when the going gets's desk gets tough that they will defend this nation and make the tough call. we better now that is people are saying you cannot go to a simple flat tax and eliminate the irs because the president is going to say, yes i can't, that is the -- yes i can, that is the promise i have made to the people of this great country. we need to know who he is in private. then i got to observe him as a husband. you will get to meet heidi. she is a brilliant woman. she is an accomplished, brilliant woman in her own right. she is harvard in ba. she has had a brilliant career and i watched the two of them and it is clear they are partners. i know from my own marriage to my own dear husband i know that it takes a strong man to truly

partner with a strong woman and ted cruz is a strong man with a great partner in heidi cruise -- cruz. and she will make an awesome first lady. [applause] and of course i got to know his daughters, caroline and catherine and what i observed about those adorable little girls is they adore their dad. they also know that he is engaged in important work. and so while the thing they want to do more than anything else is jump into his lap and play games and listen to him tell stories and to his imitations they know sometimes they need to let him do his important work. doesn't it say a lot about a man when his children adore and respect him? [applause]

you all know why the constitution is so important but you may have fellow hoosiers who really do not understand it. so in the spirit of trying to equip you to convince others tonight and tomorrow, i want to tell you a little bit about why the constitution is as relevant a document as the day it was written and why it is so critically important that we have a dedicated constitutional conservative in the white house. to do that i have to start a long time ago in my own life. once in the morning when i was about eight, probably my mother looked at me and said what you are is god's gift to you. what you make of yourself is your gift to god. i have learned over the course of my life, i have traveled, i have lived, i have worked all over the world for decades.

i have done business work, charitable work, policy work. i have learned that everywhere in the world even in the most desperate circumstances each of us are indeed gifted by god. i have learned that every single person has potential usually far more than they realize. every one of us wants a life of dignity and purpose and meaning. and we know and it is the same the world over that work done well brings dignity. and family brings purpose and brings meaning to our lives. it is worth asking the question if everyone has those same human desires and tremendous potential that comes from god, why is it that more things have been possible for more people for more places here than anywhere else on earth? why is it this place has been so extraordinary, why is it true that it is only here that a

young woman can start as i did typing and filing and answering the phones for a nine person real estate firm in the middle of the deep recession. go on one day to become the chief executive of what we turned into the largest technology company in the world, ran for the presidency, and now be standing on the stage as the 45th president's running mate. [applause] that is only possible here. and the question is why? why is it only possible here? you know what? i was a student of history. and so were our founders. anyone who has studied history understands that human nature does not change. times change, cultures change, human nature is not change and there are two fundamentals about human nature that our founders understood. the first was they knew what my mother taught me. they knew that everyone has god-given gifts and so they

built a nation on this amazing idea. it was radical at the time. the idea was that each of us have a right to life, to liberty, to the pursuit of happiness. that was their way of saying each of us has the right to find out own way, to use our god-given gifts to a potential and dream big. this was the radical part. that that right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness comes from god and cannot be taken away by antigovernment. and so the constitution is a

document that enshrines our rights and liberties, yes it does. it gives us the right to bear arms. and ted cruz will protect that to the end. a gives us the right to practice our religion freely and ted cruz has defended that to the end. but the constitution is something else. because history also teaches us that power concentrated his power abused. power concentrated is power abused and so the constitution was also written to prevent the concentration of power, to restrain power. here is the truth, ladies and gentlemen. we have had way too much power concentrated in the hands of way too few people for way too long. [applause] and that is why it matters that you have a constitutional conservative because ted cruz understands that what ails us as we are crushing the potential of too many americans because there is too much money and too much power in the hands of too few. there are entrenched interests, there are corrupt politicians, their crony capitalists and that system must be challenged.

[applause] that takes a warrior. that takes a fighter. sometimes people say ted cruz has made some enemies. i talked about how a man is known by his friends and his wife and his children but honestly, folks, a man or a woman is known by their enemies as well. i've challenged systems my whole life. i will tell you that we challenge the status quo, the challenge the powers that be, he do more than ruffle feathers. you make enemies so know this man by the fact that he has the courage to make the enemies he must make to fight for all of us. [applause]

enemies of the present -- are the price of leadership. the on your friends and warriors and you take the slings and arrows from your enemy. i know a lot of people who voted for donald trump and no -- i know a lot of people who will vote for donald trump. they think that donald trump be a warrior to challenge the system. think for a moment, think about the pattern of his life. john boehner said he does not much care for ted cruz but he is a texting and golfing buddy with donald trump. he gave john boehner a hundred thousand dollars to his super pac at the same time he was giving money to nancy pelosi and harry reid. investing seven times in hillary clinton's campaign. can you imagine? some people will say that just business. it's not, i never invested in hillary clinton's campaign. what donald trump has been doing , he is the crony capitalist who has been using the system.

hillary clinton and donald trump are two sides of the same coin. hillary clinton has made her millions selling access and influence and donald trump has made his billions buying people like hillary clinton off. he will not challenge the system, he will not fight the system. he is the system! [applause] he is the system and the system must be fought and ted cruz is the man to lead us in this fight. guess what, it is all of our fight. there is so much at stake now. it is not just that taxes have to be lower. yes they do. donald trump wants to raise them. it is not just that our rights and liberties have to be protected and preserved. it is not just that obamacare have to be repealed. it is not just that we have to lead again in the world so we are safe at home. all of those things are at stake.

but the soul of our party is also at stake and so is the future of our nation. it is time, people of the hoosier state, time that we wage this fight. it is time to take our country that. -- back. [applause] i was proud and honored and humbled as well to accept ted cruz's offer to be his running mate. i will stand with him. i will fight with him. i want you to stand with him and fight with him as well, because this is the fight of our time. for the soul of our party, for the future of our nation, we must take our country back. [applause]

[applause] in the hoosier state, i am so honored to see what an array of patriots are here standing and fighting. i have to say, isn't heidi going to make an amazing first lady? [applause] she is beautiful and brilliant, she is an amazing mommy to our two little girls. she is my best friend in the whole wide world. [applause] i have to say, to all the kids here, when heidi cruz's first lady, french fries are coming back to the one true. -- lunchroom. [applause] call me crazy, i know if a

-- i thought that cardboard began on the plate not on top. how about glenn beck? [applause] isn't glenn incredible? every time he talks, i learned something. i love it when he brings out the whiteboard and begins walking through the founding principles of our nation. the principles that led to the declaration that led to the constitution. the fundamental understanding that our rights do not come from government, they come from god almighty. [applause] as a constitution was drafted, as thomas jefferson put it, as chains to bind the mischief of government. at a time when washington has

such a spirit of fear and timidity, gladback -- is glenn beck is fearless. [applause] how about carly? [applause] what an extraordinary leader she is. when i announced her as my vice presidential choice, there is no more sound decision that a presidential candidate makes the naming a vice president. you are telling the american people that this person is prepared to step up and be president of the united states at a moments notice and is prepared to step up and honor the promises and commitments we have made and preserved and protect the constitution of the united states and be commander-in-chief and keep this country safe. [applause]

the criteria you are looking for in a vice president is really the same criteria you're looking for in a resident. -- president. for me it was three things. knowledge, judgment, and character. starting with knowledge, carly's career in business has been incredible. starting as a secretary and rising the corporate ladder to become the ceo of the largest technology company in the world. the first woman ceo of a fortune 20 company in history. [applause] carly has been shattering glass ceilings her in liar life -- her entire life and i want someone who understood jobs. they don't come from washington, they come from small business and they come from the people. [applause]

and that judgment, i have been so blessed to barnstorm with carly all across the country. to see her firsthand and up close. the way she makes decisions that she is careful, sober, thinks through. we do not want a president who is rash, hotheaded and libel to explode. -- and liable to explode at the latest twitter storm. [applause] when you're talking about someone who is to be commander-in-chief, who is to have their anger on the nuclear -- their finger on the nuclear button, you want someone of good and stable judgment. [applause] the third thing you want is character. character is the most important aspect of any president or vice president. [applause] you want someone who has struggled, someone who has no loss.

-- who has known loss. you want someone who is honest and tells the truth and does not lie all the time. you want someone who stands by their principles. you want someone who has principles. [applause] who doesn't have one position in the morning and one position at noon and another position at night. [applause] you know, of the greatest misfortunes of character is how you treat people you don't have to be nice too. everyone of us knows how to kiss up to our boss. that is not hard. the question is, how do you treat the clerk at the convenience store? how do you treat the taxicab driver? howdy to the young lady in the -- how do you treat the young lady working the tollbooth at night? one of the things that impressed me most about carly was watching her at the debates and watching her stand up to bullies.

[applause] everyone of us who has been through grade school, we know bullies in our lives. contrary to the media narrative, bullies are not strong. they are weak. they are cowards, scared, insecure, have an empty hole inside that they fill by trying to find someone they think is weaker than they are in picking on them and abusing them. that is not a sign of strength. carly fiorina is somebody who stands up to bullies whether they are donald trump or hillary clinton or vladimir putin. [applause] and perhaps, my favorite thing about carly, is that she utterly terrifies hillary clinton. [applause]

i can just picture hillary thinking about carly. tossing and turning in tossing and turning in her jail cell. [laughter] [applause] this next election, is about three issues. jobs, freedom, and security. let's start with jobs. i want to take a minute and speak to all the single moms who are here. who are working to-three part-time jobs. who have seen their hours reduced to 28-29 hours a week because obamacare kicks in at 30 hours.

i want to talk to all the truck drivers, on the plumbers and mechanics and steelworkers and coal miners. all the union members. -- all the union members. who have seen wages stagnating year after year. the cost of living keeps going up. yet, somehow your paycheck does not keep pace. i want to speak to all the young people. [applause] and hillary, bernie, take a look at all the people. [applause] all the young people who are coming out of school buried in student loans. scared. can i get a job? what does the future hold for

me? the media tries to tell us that this is the new normal. this is as good as it gets. let me tell you, that is an absolute lie. [applause] it is easy to talk about making america great again. you can even put that on a baseball cap. [laughter] through question is do you -- the real question is, do you understand the principles and values that made america great in the first place. the heart of our economy is not washington, d.c.. the heart of our economy is small businesses across the united states of america. [applause] if you want to unleash the economy, you take the boot of the federal government off the back of the next of small

businesses. -- necks of small businesses. ronald reagan understood and ronald reagan understood and before him, john f. kennedy understood that when you cut taxes and with regulation on -- and left regulation on small businesses, the results are millions and millions of high-paying jobs. [applause] i intend to follow the past ronald reagan and jfk to lift the burden on small businesses and bring jobs back to america. [applause] my opponent in this race donald , trump -- my opponent in this race, donald trump, and following the path of barack obama and hillary clinton. his campaign on a massive 40% tax increase.

donald trump's only economic policy is that he would impose a massive tariff that every creature would pay every time -- every hoosier would pay every time you go to the store. your prices will be 40% higher. i have to tell you, putting a 40% tax increase would send us into a recession and i don't think the hard-working men and women of indiana need the donald trump massive tax increase. [applause] in contrast, i'm going to cut your taxes. [applause] we are going to pass a simple flat tax. [applause] where everyone of us can fill out our taxes on a postcard. [applause] and when we do that, we should abolish the irs. [applause]

we are going to repeal every word of obamacare. [applause] it is the biggest job killer in america and in its place, we're going to pass commonsense health care reform. that makes health insurance personal and portable and affordable and keeps government from getting in between us and our doctors. [applause] we are going to rain and the -- we are going to rain in the epa. the federal leaders have decided like locusts on farmers and ranchers and kill businesses -- small businesses are killing jobs all across the country. [applause] were going to stop the obama

administration's war on call. -- war on coal. we are going to devote all of our energy resources so we can stop sending billions of dollars to countries that hate us. [applause] we are going to stop amnesty and secure the border and end things where cities and end of welfare benefits for those here illegally. [applause] let me tell you what will happen when we do all that. we are going to see millions and millions of new high-paying jobs coming back to america. we will see jobs coming back from mexico. we see jobs coming back from china. we will see manufacturing jobs coming back to indiana. we will see carrier bringing jobs back to indiana.

we're going to see wages rising again. we're going to see young people coming out of school with job offers. [applause] that is what this election is about. morning in america again. [applause] the second critical issue in this election is freedom. just a few weeks ago, the passing of justice and leah -- justice scalia underscored the stakes of this election. it is not just one, but two branches of the government that hang in the balance. if you care about religious liberty, the right to seek out the lord god almighty and worship him with all of your heart, mind, and soul without government getting in the way.

[applause] if you care about the second amendment right to keep and bear arms and protect your family -- [applause] then we are one liberal justice away from a radical five justice left wing majority that would strip those rights and the rest of the bill of rights from americans for a generation. you know, a couple of debates ago hugh hewitt asked all abuzz , about the supreme court and religious liberty and donald trump turned to me, ted, i've known a lot of politicians than you have. well, and that he is correct. donald trump has been supporting

liberal democrats for 40 years. i have no experience with that. [applause] but donald continued. he said, ted, when it comes to religious liberty and the supreme court, you got to learn to compromise. you got to learn to cut deals with the democrats to go along and get along. let me be very clear, to hoosiers across the state, i will not compromise the way you religious liberty. [applause] and i will not compromise away your second amendment to keep and bear arms. [applause] the third critical issue in this

election, security. for seven years, we have seen a president who abandons our friends and allies and shows weakness and appeasement to our enemies. two debates ago donald trump explained to all , those that if he was president, he would be neutral between israel and the palestinians. let me be very clear, as president, i will not be neutral. [applause] america will stand unapologetically with the nation of israel. [applause] and anyone who can tell the -- who can't tell the difference between our friends

and our enemies, anyone who can tell the difference between israel and islamic terrorists who want to kill us, that raises real questions about their fitness and judgment to be commander -- commander-in-chief. [applause] we need a commander-in-chief, right now. for seven years we have seen our military weekend, readiness undermined and morale plummeted. you know, as a nation, we have seen this before. we have seen another left-wing democratic president, jimmy carter, weaken and undermined the military. then in january 1981, ronald reagan came into office. [applause] what did reagan do? he cut taxes, but did regulations and we saw millions of high-paying jobs. that generated trillions in government revenue and he is that revenue to rebuild the military, bankrupt the soviet

union and win the cold war. [applause] i intend to do the exact same thing with radical islamic terrorism. [applause] we are going to repeal obamacare, pass a flat tax, rain in the regulators, pass amnesty. -- stop amnesty and the result will be millions of jobs coming back to indiana, wages rising, that is going to generate trillions of new government revenue and we will use that revenue to rebuild our military so it remains the mightiest fighting force on the face of the planet. [applause]

no longer -- [applause] no longer will our military be governed by political correctness. [applause] we will have a president who stands up and says of the world that we will defeat radical islamic terrorism. [applause] we will have a president willing to utter the words radical islamic terrorism. [applause] >> we love you, ted. >> i love you, too.

one of the saddest and most simple things we have seen in the last seven years has been this president sending our fighting men and women into combat with rules of engagement so strict that their arms are tied behind their back that they cannot fight, cannot win, cannot defeat the enemy. that is wrong. it is immoral and, mark my words, january 2017, it will end. [applause] to every soldier and sailor and airmen and running, and for that -- and marine and for that matter, every police officer and firefighter and first responder, the days of a president who does not respect your service are going to end. you are going to have the thanks of a grateful nation and a

commander-in-chief who's got your back! [applause] >> cruz, cruz, cruz! sen. cruz: 21 hours. that is how long remains until the polls close. 21 hours. this has been a strange and long journey. it hasn't been boring. [laughter] [laughter] we started with 17 candidates. what a contrast with the democrats. [laughter] the democratic field consists of a wild eyed socialist with ideas that are dangerous for america

and the world and bernie sanders. [laughter] over the course of the year, the primary did what it was supposed to do. it has narrowed the field. as we stand here now, there are two in only two people who have any plausible path to winning the republican commission. me and donald trump. right now, today, the entire country, the eyes of the nation are on indiana. indiana faces a choice, not just for the state or the republican party, the for the entire country. do we get behind a campaign that is based on yelling and screaming and cursing and insults? or do we continue to unify

behind a positive, optimistic, forward-looking conservative campaign? [applause] based on real policy solutions to the problems facing this country. [applause] for the past week, heidi and i and carolyn and catharine, we have been barnstorming the state of indiana traveling in a bus asking for the support of hoosiers across the state. i think any candidate running for president owes it to the voters to look into the eyes, should your hands, answer your questions, to come and come to work for you. to show that humility, to show that respect. earlier today, in marion, indiana, we had and that there -- an event there were there were 400 people come into a small cafe. in addition to this 400

supporters, we had 6-7 supporters. -- trump protesters across the street. we had a very civil, respectful conversation. i walked across the street to engage with them. [applause] in between, for every statement i made, he yelled liar. it began with one of the lead protesters cursing at me and yelling at me so i was glad to see he was channeling the candidate he was supporting. [laughter] very civil, respectful conversation. from what side. -- from one side. in between, for every statement i made, he yelled liar. and somehow the facts did not matter.

if he just yelled liar bath that often enough the insults he thought would define things. he said he was going to build a wall. he said that's the main thing. i said are you aware that he told the new york times editorial board that he did not mean anything he said on immigration that he was just saying that to full of voters? -- to fool the voters? that was his response. predictably he just screamed liar. i said are you aware, it is on tape. that the new york times taped it and they are happy to release it if donald trump gives his permission. if he did not say that, if the tape proves his innocence, donald trump should want it released. so he went next, the second amendment, i said ok. he said what have you done for the second amendment? [laughter] i said i am glad you asked. i represented 31 states

litigating hell are versus district of colombia which preserved the individual right to keep and bear arms. [applause] and i said did you know that donald trump and hillary clinton both agreed with bill clinton's national ban on guns, many of the most popular guns in america? he did not know that. but instead, he just began yelling. yelling liar. and so then i made the point, i said, sir, if i were donald walk acrossld not the street to talk to. you. i would not have shown you that respect because i said, listen, i am campaigning to be everyone's president. [applause] if i were donald trump i would have stayed surrounded by my supporters and i would have

instructed some of them to go over and punch them in the face. it was interesting. the fellow's response to that, anyone know what it was question he yelled liar. -- what it was? he yelled liar. the great thing about truth, it is verifiable. go home and google donald trump punch of the face. you will find him standing at a rally on national television, it is not like this is a secret, instructing his supporters, punch that protester in the face and i will pay your legal bills when you do it. truth matters. donald trump has taken to asking supporters at rallies to raise their hand and pledge their support for donald trump. this is the united states of america. we do not pledge support to men. we pledge allegiance to the flag. we pledge to support the constitution. and the only hand raising i am interested in is in january when i raise my hand and pledge 2017 my support to each of you to reserve, protect, and defend the constitution of the united states. [applause] when people ask why do spend night and day crisscrossing the country away from your family

from away from your kid so often? why do you and your the insults, -- endure the insults and the lies the attacks, the smears, the mud? it is not a complicated question. i do it because i love this country. i do it because i look at caroline and catherine, the loves of my life, and i do it for the same reason everyone of you is here. because we're not willing to look in the eyes of our children and grandchildren and tell them, we sat by while the greatest country in the history of the world went down the drain. [cheers and applause] we're here tonight everyone of us because we love our kids, because we love our grant should -- grandkids and our country is in crisis. it is at the edge of a cliff staring down. and if we do not will back, our -- if we don't pull back, our

kids, our grandkids will not enjoy the freedom, the prosperity, the liberties, the blessings that each of us has been so incredibly privileged to enjoy. the entire country is depending on the state of indiana. we have got 21 hours, i want to ask you right now, donald trump and i are effectively tied in the state of indiana. it is that connect in the state -- it is now can in the state of indiana. i want to ask everyone of you in 21 hours, can you find five people to come out and vote tomorrow? [applause] can you find 10 people were 15 or 20? -- or 15 or 20? [applause] you look around, there are 2000 people added here tonight. -- gathered here tonight to if every person here gets 10 people to show up tomorrow and the one hours, that represents in the next 21 hours, that represents 20,000 votes and that means the men and women in this room could decide the indiana

primary. [applause] we all remember what reagan said, freedom is not passed down from one generation to the next in the bloodstream. rather, every generation must stand and fight to defend freedom. or one day we will find , ourselves answering to our children or our children's children, what was it like when america was free? that is the question that nobody in this room is ever going to have to answer. [applause] the next 21 hours, millions of american -- of americans are praying for each of you. you are being lifted up in prayer.

millions are lifting the state of indiana up in prayer. and i could not be more gratified. i could not be more encouraged that this primary is coming down to the midwestern common sense, to the good judgment of hoosiers. [applause] if we continue to unite, if we stand together as one, coming together, i spent the whole day barnstorming the state, campaigning with indiana's governor, mike pence. [applause] and i will tell you, we saw stunning contrasts. i am proud to stand with mike pence, i am proud to stand with carly fiorina. at the same time donald trump is trumpeting their support he received from mike tyson. a convicted rapist who spent three years in prison here in indiana for raping a 17-year-old girl.

what did donald trump say? he said mike tyson is in his own words a "tough guy." i got news for you. rapists are not tough guys. they are cowards and weaklings and bullies. [applause] i spent a lot of years in law enforcement dealing with rapists. and they are the very embodiment of cruelty and i will say that contrast provides a clear and simple choice for the people of the state. if we continue to unite to come together with governor mike pence and carly fiorina and glenn beck and mark levine, if we stand as one, we will win this republican primary.

[applause] and if we continue tonight the -- to unite the nation, we will win the general election. we will beat hillary clinton and we will turn this great nation around. thank you and god bless you. [applause] ♪

way over and i heard greta, she said, they have thousands and thousands of people there. and you know, i do not know if you know it, but we have two other rooms like this outside. you people have the best location. you have the best location. but we love the people in the other two rooms, right? there are supposed to be 3000-4000 people in this room. 2000 and 2000 and in the other two rooms. so we have anywhere between 6000 and it 8000. -- and 8000. they don't even know. and greta van susteren says, and the other one, he says, no, they only have 1500 people here. let me tell you. let me tell you. start counting them up, carl. because we have a lot of people here, carl. and i am not referring people to -- referring to carl. i am just saying the press is so damn dishonest.

they are unbelievably dishonest. so we have two rooms like this and i have a guy saying, 2000. this is thousands of people. by the way, outside there are thousands of people who could not get into any of the three rooms. so that is the story. what can i tell you? i like to set it straight, right? i want to thank you all for coming. this has been an amazing experience. i know so many people in indiana. i think we are doing well. that does not mean you don't have to go vote. you have to go vote tomorrow. but i think we are doing well. we have taught ted cruz in so many lies. we call him lying ted. this guy lies. he is lying. he is lying ted. he is lying ted. he is almost worse in the press. almost. i don't know if you heard because the press will not tell you but a new poll came out a few hours ago, the rasmussen poll. and i am beating hillary clinton.

and that is good. that is good. we are beating her. mr. trump: and i have not even started yet. you know, we started with 17 people and they are all senators and accomplished people. senators, governors, tremendous people like dr. ben carson who really did well. and, he endorsed me. he is a great guy. chris christie, great guy who endorsed me. a lot of people. a lot of people are endorsing. a lot of people. jerry falwell, junior, just came in. jerry falwell from liberty university endorsed me. so many ministers and pastors, and that is why we are winning the evangelical vote and we have been very consistently. we are winning everything. i don't know if you saw but in new york they did exit polls. we won with women. we won with men. but especially the women made me feel good.

the women. [cheers and applause] mr. trump: we did not only win with women, we really won with women. we won with highly educated, less than highly educated, rich, poor, everything. we won and then we went to new york where we got almost every delegate. 95. then we went to five great states. connecticut, maryland, pennsylvania, delaware, rhode island. we won every single one of them in a landslide. we won every group. it has been amazing. and now the biggie is going to be indiana, because if we win in indiana it is over with, folks. it is over with. and then we focus on hillary clinton. [cheers and applause] mr. trump: we then focus on hillary, and that is going to be fun. remember, we started with 17 and

they went off one by one. a senator, a governor, a senator, a governor. they did not know what the hell happened. they went out. now we're down to two with near down to two and they are -- two and they are hanging by their fingernails. they are up there like this. they are hanging. it has been unbelievable. i have been here a lot. i have many friends here. they are amazing. i've met so many amazing people and we have had such incredible crowds. that is why i had to call him. but we had such incredible crowds right up to the end. look at this room. as an example, right up to the corners of this big room. people. and all over. all over. hello, corner. so, it has been an incredible experience. we're going to make america great again. it is going to be america first. america first. but we are going to make america -- look at all those hats.

whites, reds, everything. but we love. you know, the truth is, at the trump rallies it is the safest place you can be. because we look out for each other. and we look out for everybody. we had one in costa mesa recently. we had one in california recently. 31,000 people. unbelievable. you don't read about that. you read about, they had some problems outside. people were burning the american flag. i don't want them burning the american flag. not the people inside, the people outside. they are agitators. many are professionals. they are bad people. you don't see it at all. no, look at this place. you don't see it. we have gone through days, it is unbelievable. california was unbelievable. a new poll just came out in california where i am leading 55 to like 20. ok? [cheers and applause] mr. trump: but i do love that clinton poll.

the other one had me tied up. by the way, hillary clinton, in a state called indiana, which we love, that just came out, too. that is the wall street journal nbc poll. trump is leading hillary 48-41. and the only thing ted cruz could say with his shakespearean everything, oh. i cannot watch. i love these guys. they are online. did you see them a over the news? we want trump. lying ted. that's right. he lies like nobody else can lie. they were online and the had -- they had these guys debating and they know they get it. , they said, you are lying. you are lying. someone said online they were supporting trump. then all the sudden i heard i was supporting with him as my

vice president. and you had ted cruz saying, who would you rather have, himself and carly or donald trump and mike tyson. where did that come from? i said, where did that come? first of all, i'm honored that he endorsed me but where did , that come from? and then he said, donald trump wants to raise your taxes 40 -- 40%. just so you understand, i have a tax policy and we have a tax land put in and i am given by -- giving my far the biggest tax reduction of anybody running. by far. especially for the middle class and especially for business. with the highest taxed nation in -- we are the highest taxed nation in the world. the fact is the one criticism of my tax plan is that i am giving so much. in other words, my tax plan is much higher. yet you listen to this lying guy who says i want to raise your taxes 40%.

these politicians are really bad. i have only done this nine months. i think i am doing a good job. do you agree? [cheers and applause] mr. trump: and all my life i have the business started off with a $1 million loan and then i built a net worth over $10 billion with the greatest assets. very low debt. tremendous cash flow. and i only say it for one reason because i don't care. i am just saying, this is what we need to bring our country back. we have to bring our country back. we need to bring our country back. the world is ripping us off. whether it be china or vietnam or japan. i could name any country. we do not win any more. we are going to start winning. big-league. big-league.

so i'm giving you the biggest and i hear this guy and i think, oh i wish i were standing next to him so i can tell the truth. now, you have been watching me for a long time. repeal and replace obamacare, right? so lying ted cruz gets up and says, donald trump loves, you know with a big flares. -- a big flourish. you know honestly, i do not even think he is a good debater. according to every single online poll at every single online debate, i have beaten him. i mean, i do not debate him. my whole life is a debate. but this guy, so i talk about obamacare. we're going to repeal it and replace it with something great. i don't know if you've seen it, but premiums are going up so much, right? premiums are going up 25%, 45%, 55%.

your deductibles are so high that you are never going to be able to use it unless you are like close to death. every speech i say we will repeal and replace obamacare. so i hear this guy today, lying ted cruz. he says, donald trump loves obamacare. he wants to take it to the next level. he loves it. i am saying, he is such a liar. you know, i was given a little bit of shelter when during one of the debates, marco rubio called him a liar. so now here is a senator calling a senator a liar. i have never seen a guy lie like that. he even said, donald trump will not build a wall. he said he is not going to build the wall. not build the wall? ok. we're going to build the wall. can you imagine? no, no, can you imagine?

we are going to build the wall. we'll talk about the wall. and i tell you, we are going to build the wall, we are going to stop drugs from pouring in and poisoning our youth and other people. we are building the wall. and i've got this guy, ted cruz. lying ted. donald trump is not going to build the wall. i think he is crazy. honestly, i think he is crazy. lying ted does not have the temperament to be doing this. he is choking like a dog because he is losing so badly, we have to put him away tomorrow. folks, we have to get out and vote. we have to get out and vote. [applause] mr. trump: we have got to get out and vote. so -- thank you, darling. i love her too. ready? so this is very depressing. it happens all the time. every place i have gone to, new

york state landslides. but i go to different communities and i say to my statisticians, not the most exciting job, but they love it. right? it's their job but i say give me the statistics on certain areas albany new york, poughkeepsie. , i go to new york and it's horrible. what's happening? the jobs are down 50% in manufacturing, it's horrible what's happening in new york state. i go to pennsylvania. you look at the steel industry and by the way look at the steel industry here, it's being killed. the steel industry here is being killed. the coal industry is being killed. your industry, your manufacturing, so i go up to sell then will stop what school -- what school do i love? i have so many friends that love me there are that would like to be there with me right now in south bend. for a certain reason. ready? so south bend of reason. listen to this. and don't be depressed, because we going to fix it. no politician can fix it because

they are all bought and controlled by special interests. remember that. so a friend of mine who is very smart, a very smart guy, he said to me, you know donald i don't understand. these politicians are really stupid. i said they are not stupid, they are given so many money -- so much money by special interest and many don't know what they are doing. so these guys that negotiate with china and mexico and all these big countries where we just die with these horrible trade deals. some of them are not good. you know, they are political hacks. but i tell you what. they are not actually stupid. they are making deals because they are special-interest groups, lobbyist's, donors, tell them. when i see carrier air-conditioning leaving indiana to go to mexico, there are people who want that to happen. i have been talking about it since they first had that speech i've been talking about. i said i know i'd be in indiana.

the coach was great to endorse me and we have had so many great endorsements. and bobby knight just called and bobby knight is going to be here tomorrow all day and i will tell you bobby knight was so cool because a year ago before it was going to run i announced nine or 10 months ago on june 16, a big day. not easy to do this. it takes guts to do this stuff, believe me folks. i sort of had a nice life. i had a nice company and a nice family and now i call back and say we'll be home in four days but i will tell you what, bobby knight called me and he heard i was thinking about running. i had never met bobby knight. i knew bobby knight, winner, smart and tough which is what we need in our country. and bobby called up and first i had to make sure it was him. they call back and they do all sorts of things but bobby called up and he said i hope you are

going to run. i said you know what coach, thinking about it seriously. it's a big commitment. we have got to make america great again. i watch what's happening and he said donald you've got to run. i said coach i'll tell you what do me a favor, give me your number, let me see what i do and i will call you. what happens a couple of months later announced i'm running and i come down and we are talking about trade and talking up the border and all these things that -- these things would have never even been brought up if i didn't talk about them. when i talk about illegal immigration and was like for weeks i was getting absolutely killed by the press and the dishonest media, but the media that said we have 1500 people here tonight and we have 6000. so dishonest. carl, don't be ashamed of yourself. but you know what? you know what? i had to do it. we talked about illegal immigration and we brought up trade and then you had paris and i started talking about the

muslim problem which is a problem whether you like it or you don't and nobody else is talking about it. we talked about radical islamic terrorism and we have a president that doesn't want to use the term because he doesn't know what the hell he is doing or maybe he does know what he's doing, one or the other. maybe he does know what he's doing but in so many ways he doesn't. bobby called and i put in this number and now all of a sudden indiana, because usually it is late, but now indiana is becoming very important. and i say it's so important. in terms of the race. usually by this time it's over and it doesn't matter but this time you folks belong where you belong. it is called importantville. i have so many friends here. we have a huge victory in new york. cruz got almost no votes in new york. he would be beaten so badly by

hillary clinton. he can't win so these guys do terribly and then the following week i get rid of all five in a landslide. we are going to win the whole thing. we're going to beat her in a landslide. [applause] mr. trump: all right? we are going to beat her. so, one of my political guys said you know we are going to indiana and i have spent a lot of time over there in the last two weeks. and they said, we are going to indiana. i mean, if you could get bobby knight, would that be possible? i said, possible? i have his phone number on my desk. i said what a great idea so i called them up and here is how smart he is. he goes i've been waiting for your call. can you believe that? then he said when can we meet? he's been so incredible and he said some things that were really true. he said, for the people of indiana, donald trump is going to be such a great president. and i am. i'm going to work so hard for you to be great.

we are going to bring jobs back. we are not going to let carrier go to mexico. there've got to be consequences. when people want to lay off 1400 people go to mexico and sell , their product back to us with no tax or consequence is not going to happen and that's not only carrier. that is many others. because we are losing our manufacturers. we are losing our country between what is happening there, what's happening with china, trade deficit with china. $500 billion $58 billion with mexico, a trade deficit a tremendous trade deficit, astronomical trade deficit with japan. everybody. we have a trade deficit with everybody. you could call out a country. and now they want to make a new deal, transpacific partnership, which will be as bad as nafta. or worse. and nafta was terrible. and who approved nafta? kasich approved nafta.

kasich approved nafta when he was a congressman. one of the deciding votes. so here's what happened. when bobby went into that arena, and it was a big arena, it was incredible. people are screaming, crying. they love bobby. hey look, he won 900 games. he won three world championships. college championships. he won the olympics. he won the pan am games. i don't even know if you realize this, i said how come it has not been broken yet? he has the last undefeated season. he almost had in a row, he had two won almost before. i mean, there is a guy that is a winner. he said, for the people of indiana it is an important week. if we win, it is over and then i can focus -- [applause] then i don't have to worry about lying ted cruz. i don't care if he endorses me, i could care less. i don't have to worry about john

one in 44. is and that is because i did not go that i don't two days, i stayed -- that final two days, i stayed in florida because i wanted to win florida and they gave me what is called a dirty poll. somebody came out with a dirty poll in florida. if i would've spent two more days in ohio, we would have won. but i did not stop it is ok. but he is one for 44, 45, 46. something. now, in the popular vote i am millions ahead of ted cruz. but it is a rigged system. stuff it ise , dishonest. it is meant for the bosses to be able to keep the special interests happy and the people who give them money said that -- so that mexico and other places where you have big interests, i tell you what, the system is so sick. in louisiana, i win louisiana. i was not supposed to. i went there and campaigned for

three days, massive speeches. we had an airplane hangar bigger than this room that was packed and we win louisiana. and then two or three weeks later, they are going over the numbers. and i got like hardly any delegates. it's only been nine months. i am figuring it out fast. you mean i can win and the guy who comes in third place or four place ends up with more delegates than me. no, think of it. it's a dirty system. i will tell you what i'm proud of. for 40 or 50 years how long has this been going on on with this crazy delegate system? nobody has ever complained. nobody ever talks about it. i always heard, delegate, delegate. then you had in colorado where they did a poll and they said we don't want to go and vote so let's take the votes away from

the people and let the bosses are is going to pick it. and the bosses are always going to pick a senator who is under control who takes all these campaign contributions and borrows money from goldman sachs. cruz borrowed money from goldman sachs and citibank. $1 million at a rate you would be proud to have. nobody in this room would be able to get the loan rate and he forgot to disclose it on his financial disclosure form. he forgot, lyin' ted. he said, i forgot. he was until 18 months ago he was a citizen of canada. he forgot to tell you that. oh i didn't know that. oh. this guy, i mean give me a break. bobby said, and it was so incredible. bobby knight said to the people at one of the speeches because he went around with me, he said it will be so great because donald trump is going to be a great president and i appreciate him saying that. and the people of indiana if they vote for him they are going to put him over the top and we can focus on hillary clinton. so good.

[applause] mr. trump: nobody could say it, nobody could say it. so i appreciate lou holtz just called in and just endorsed me. [applause] mr. trump: a really good guy, just put it out. it's all over the internet. lou holtz is a really good guy so we have everybody. i mean, we have so many great endorsements. you know who's very important to me? 16,500 border patrol people endorsed me last week. they have never done it before. and of course, sheriff joe, you talk about borders, sheriff joe from arizona, but the 60,500 -- 16,500 people had never endorsed a presidential candidate before and they endorsed me so that was a great honor. because we need borders. we need to have our country back. we can't have people walking across our borders and we have to either have a country or we don't have a country and you can't have a country if you

don't have borders and on top of that we have drugs pouring across. you know, when i won new hampshire that was the first state that i won. and when you win something, you get a special feeling. i won new hampshire in a landslide. i wasn't supposed to. jeb bush was supposed to. he raised $168 million in a super pac. $168 million. he was favored to win new hampshire and i won in a landslide. i have a much higher level of energy. what can i say? and i wouldn't say that because once the race is over, i love all these people. when you defeat somebody, you are supposed to love them. never lose. and i wouldn't say, the other day he was on television saying bad stuff. although he did say it was a phenomenon. and he did say, he's a gifted politician. i don't understand that. when he said i was a gifted politician, i think he said that and it was not meant as a compliment.

being a politician itself is not so great but i beat jeb bush and think of this, i spent the least amount of money. he spent the most. i came in first. he came in last or close. other people have spent far more money than me and so far i spent of the major candidates the least amount of money by far and i'm number one in a landslide. right? [applause] mr. trump: now, if you look at education, 30 countries, we are last. we are like 30th. we are last. so we are last in education. if you look at cost per pupil, we are first. so we -- and by the way there is no second because we spend so much more per pupil that they don't even talk about number two. it is ridiculous. so, wouldn't you like, i mean think of this. and by the way, it's norway, denmark sweden, china, japan. the five. we are 30th but we are first in

terms of spending per pupil. now, and that is bad. that is bad. that is real bad. now with me i spent the least and had the best results. isn't that what you want for and here's the other thing, i'm self-funding so i'm not controlled by all these people that controlled cruz, they control hillary, crooked, crooked, crooked hillary. you know the other day they were talking about crooked hillary and myself. right? and they said one of her people and one of obama's people and they said who do you think hillary wants to run against? and the guy said, let me tell you. the one she doesn't want to run against, donald trump. she does not know where it is coming. he said, a guy like cruz is cookie-cutter. it will make barry goldwater looks like he has a successful campaign.

with trump they don't know what's going to happen. they don't know where he is going to come from and i'm going to win states like new york, good chance. a state which no republican would ever even campaign because he had no chance. you saw it two weeks ago i won by a landslide. against two people and the dishonest media when they say like about, four or five weeks ago, or 10 weeks ago, we would have 12 people and i would want to stay. i won south carolina, i won nevada, i won the south. alabama, kentucky, i won them all. i won missouri. i won them all and then i won florida in a landslide and they are saying, you did not have 50%. i have 12 people against me. you cannot win 50%. i mean, if i am abraham lincoln i can get it the percent. 17 people. it is the biggest number of people ever to run that anybody can ever remember, ever.

and yet i will get like 36, 38, 42. and i have these characters on television that don't have the brains they were born with. ok? and they are dishonest and they are dishonest. ok? but they will say i have this victory were indeed everybody by a lot traded 50%, 14 people even now i have three people so we have three people. it's hard to break 50% when you have three people and yet in new york, i got almost 62%. right? in pennsylvania -- in pennsylvania, i won every single one. nobody remembers that happening before. in delaware the same thing, in maryland if everyone every one of them. in connecticut.

i won greenwich connecticut, nobody has ever seen it before. i won the rich areas, i won the poor areas. and you hear, or have she should have gotten more. actually, they did not say that. they always say pharma the always say, we had all these people running and they say, he did not get 50%. and jeb would say, oh, he is not conservative. we have the dummies representing us. they would say i am not conservative because of trade. in terms of trade, i believe in free market. but you can only go with free trade when you have smart people representing you. but we have dummies. we have the dummies representing us. we have real dummies. we have people controlled by special interests so when you have that you can throw in the free trade out the window. you see what free trade has gotten, you see what globalization would we go all over the world because our politicians are corrupt and crooked and they are totally taken care of i -- by campaign contributions and by the way who would know better than me? do i know the system better than anybody in the world? ok? anybody in the world.

so we have a rigged deal and here's what's going to happen, it's so important that samargya -- that tomorrow you get out and you vote. tomorrow you have got to get out and vote. because we have a movement going on. bill o'reilly from fox is a tough cookie and i always say man, that was tough. these interviews with him. but i like him. bill o'reilly says in his entire life, his entire life this is the single biggest political phenomenon he has ever witnessed. you, what has happened? the biggest, the biggest. and then i stand here and is packed halls with thousands and thousands and i have to listen to carl cameron gives a phony count, ok? but think of it. bill o'reilly says the single biggest political event, i think that was the word he used, event. of his lifetime. that's a big statement. that's a big statement. that's a guy who's been around

and he is a smart guy but that's a big statement. many people have said it to us. but i am a messenger. if you are tired of making less money than he did 18 years ago, you are tired of it, i understand it. i understand it. you are tired of seeing carrier leave your state go to mexico, build a plant, put their equipment and sell it like nothing happened and by the way the air-conditioners cost the same because they have to compete with crane and all the other companies. i buy from all of them. i am not buying from carrier anymore, by the way. i am not buying. but they have to compete with all the other companies. it is going to be the same. they have to make more. and you know what what does it do for us? so i'm a free trader but free trade isn't working and we don't have the people that can do free trade because we don't have the smart people. now nafta destroyed our country, destroyed large sections of our country and by the way you take a look at your manufacturing here. look at the numbers, nafta has

been a disaster. what it's done to new england and new york state, what it's done here and what it's done everywhere. bill clinton signed it. bill clinton signed it. that was a clinton deal. it's been horrible. now they want to pass transpacific partnership. ok? that will be worse than nafta and we will suffer. and we're going to stop them from doing it. we are not going to let them continue. you know the document, the document is 6000 pages long and i guarantee you every one of those countries that are involved, every single one of them have read every word, every comma every paragraph and our guys have never even read it i guarantee you. 6000 pages folks. and all it is is another way for other countries to the blood out -- to suck the blood out of the united states. and we are not going to let it happen. sessions his all-time most respected senator, senator jeff sessions and they talk about him at the beginning. jeff sessions is from alabama. a fantastic guy. he endorsed donald trump. he endorsed trump. that was a great endorsement. we have had so many. we have had so many, but jeff sessions, he doesn't want to do anything about transpacific partnership. he doesn't want to do anything about the manipulation and devaluation of currency and without that focus we are going to -- this will make nafta look like a baby. so we have to get in there fast. we have to knock it out and i don't mind making agreements but we should not make agreements with countries altogether, we should make them one-on-one, one on one and you know what, if they don't treat us right we pulled the agreement. we are all bound up and you ought to see the chart. it's a chart from hell. nobody even knows it and i'm telling you those guys are studying it and nobody from our group has even read the dm -- has even read the damn

agreement. and it goes on for many years. one-on-one, if somebody treats us well to make a trade agreement and i will have the best negotiators in the world make a fair agreement. i don't want to be tied up. if country a does this and country c does that, then -- nobody knows what the hell is going on. the bad countries that have not treated as well benefit because they get the benefit of what the good countries are getting so everybody is taking advantage. it's a disaster. we go one-on-one with countries and if they treat us well we take care of them and if they treat us badly we can't get out of it. it's like a spider's web such as remember it and cruz wants that and so does kasich by the way. cruz wants it so we are not going to let it happen. ok? so when i came down the escalator with my wife on june

16, not long ago and i brought up all of these things and i thought at the time it was going to be trade and illegal immigration. i gave a speech in from the beginning we went up from, they weren't polling me because they never thought i was going to run. the press. they never thought i was going to run. so we went up almost from the beginning and within a few weeks we were number one. people agreed with what i was saying and we have been number one ever since. we have been number one ever since. [applause] mr. trump: and importantly, i never debated before. i was at center stage for every single debate and according to every poll and drudge and "time" magazine, every single one had me number one and i won every debate. and cruz i heard he was a good debater.

i think he's a terrible debater unless you want to hear shakespeare. i don't want to hear shakespeare. when he was debating in high school and college, nobody interrupted him. with me, i interrupted him and he got all lost. it's called the real world, right? it's called the real world. so every debate, importantly, right from the beginning just about, i went to number one -- out of all these characters out there. now he has reached the ceiling. i started out at six or five or something. and they said, he has got five and that is hired than most but now he has plateaued at.

the next week i went to, like 11. they said, he has 11 and that is as far as he will go. you has 11 who love them. then i went to 14, then i went to 18, then 24. and they kept saying, he has plateaued. i know he has a toad you know, these morons like carl rove. the guy is a more run. he still thinks -- no, no. karl rove. he still thinks romney won. romney got wiped out. he should've won that election. that is an election that should've been one. i backed him. and i backed john mccain. but i backed mccain. he did not win. i backed romney, should've won. did not win. i said, this time i am going to do it myself, folks. we are going to win. we're going to win. we're going to win.

so a lot of things happen. i talked about trade, talked about illegal immigration. then you had the killing of kate in san francisco. shot in the back by someone who should've never been allowed in this country. then you had jamil in california. a young boy. his father became a good friend of mine. san francisco. los angeles area, california. he was killed. his father is a great guy. his son was taken for it and illegal immigrant. shot through the base -- through the face three or four times for doing nothing. we are going to build a wall. and then you had, and then you had the incredible veteran, 65-year-old woman raped, sodomized, a and killed in california. this is all over the country. we are not going to take it anymore. not going to take it anymore. we're not taking it anymore. and then, the polls a start coming out word tribe is definitely the best on the border and best on everything. best on everything except they did not like my personality. who cares about my personality? i think i am a nicer person than most of them. the only thing i did not do well on was personality. and by the way, the women. no one respects women more than

i do. i will tell you that. and women are looking for security in our country and they know i am going to do the best job. look at hillary. with her call. remember that ad? who is going to be awake at 3:00 in the morning? when they called from benghazi she was sleeping. she was sleeping. she was sleeping. who is going to be awake? she was not awake. so all of the polls are doing great. and we have been doing amazing. but then you had a thing called paris. paris. 130 people were killed, hundreds oh of people lying in the hospital right now injured so badly their lives are destroyed. you have people that went in and just boom, boom. boom, boom, boom. the toughest gun laws in the world paris, france, shooting

people, killing people, hurting people. people are so badly injured, hundreds of them. then you had san bernardino. you had a radicalized couple come out. they were given a baby shower by the same people they killed a short while later. boom, boom, boom. no guns on the other side. let me tell you. if you had guns on the other side, whether it's paris, san bernardino, some of the military people that were killed. it would've been a whole different story if those people had guns. a whole different story, folks. and, in fact, it may have never even happen because of these people found out, if they found out there were guns in the room, they would probably have never even gone out. ok?

it would've been a completely different story. so we will protect our second amendment. and we are really going to protect our second amendment, ok? we're going to take care of it and cherish it because they are chipping away, chipping away at the second amendment will stop -- chipping away at the second amendment and we are not going to let it happen. the story is we're going to take care of our people. we're going to negotiate deals. we want other countries to do well. but it is going to be america first. when we have 19 trillion in debt going to 21 trillion because of the horrible budget, the omnibus budget. the omnibus. which by the way, finds -- funds obamacare. funds syrians coming in where we have no idea where they are coming in. they are coming here. it is funding illegal immigrants coming in. and lots of other things. you know, i always say that obama is a horrible negotiator except when it comes to negotiating with the republicans in congress. he gets everything he wants. and what happens? and we send these people off, and i am a fan of the tea party which has been maligned over the years.

ok? it has just been maligned. but i am a fan. we send these people and they go, we're going to get rid of obamacare. they get elected, right? then they go and they look at the beautiful homes gone the beautiful ceilings, the marble, the statues, and something happens. they become lost. he looks at his wife and he goes, alice we have finally arrived. and then they vote for everything. that is not happening with me. it is not happening with the, folks. not going to happen. so, so, it has been such an honor and i am going to try to see the other two rooms. maybe i will bring carl cameron with me. but i'm going to try to stop by but let me just tell you. it has been just an honor. and hopefully tomorrow, in and get every friend you have that can vote. every friend you can have. everybody. because here's what is going to happen, you are going to remember this evening. thank you. i love you. i love you. i love you. thank you.

then bernie. by the way, bernie sanders, his system is rigged also. only the republicans rake it in -- rigging it in a much more sophisticated way without the superdelegate thing. but bernie, he wins, he wins, he wins. and then you watch these guys, he can't win. but here's what you've got to do. you have got to vote. and, we have to keep this movement going. we will make america so great, may be greater than ever before. but we might have to suffer and ted cruz will lose the biggest landslide in history. and john kasich, when he gets it with a negative ad. i have had 60,000 negative ad. ted cruz has had none. john kasich has had none. when they get hit with their first negative ad, they are over. with me, i think we are immune to that. and the ads were wrong. the ads are totally phony ads.

but here's the story. you are going to look back years from now and say, it was the single greatest vote you've ever cast. and here's why. because our country, our country is going to start winning again. we are going to win with our military. it is being depleted. we're going to build up our military. make it stronger, bigger, better than ever before. there are 57 delegates at stake today. the republican front runner has 992 elegance. he needs 1237 to get the nomination. cruz trails and john kasich is far behind. he stopped campaigning in indiana. it is a close race in the primary. hillary clinton is looking for votes on a two-day swing through kentucky. she will be in ohio this afternoon given a speech on jobs and the economy. coverage gets underway at 230 p.m. eastern time. bernie sanders is campaigning in the kentucky today. you can see live coverage in louisville. for thel be competing 92 delegates at stake in the indiana primary. hillary has over 2000 total delegates.
