we will continue to pursue that. let me just say one other word. this will be the last time that i will take the podium under the obama administration. as the deputy secretary indicated, this administration has been so robust, look at the structure here, our office has significantly increased staff. we created the religion and global affairs as well. over 50 full-time people working on religion and religious freedoms here at the state department. working in concert with dedicated staff, in every one of our embassies, who has to focus on religious freedom, to reach out to the religious communities who will -- who may face discrimination or limitation on religious freedom.

this has an extraordinary impact on our being effective in foreign policy, affirming our fundamental values and goals to do so with a thriving sense of religious freedom and protection of religious freedom and belief for all peoples across the globe. i have been immensely proud of what this administration has done, and i am convinced, because i have seen firsthand, how it has made a real difference in the lives of real people across the globe. we will continue to push as vigorously as we can until, as i said, religious freedom becomes a reality for every person in every nation across the globe. thank you, all. >> thank you. thanks to the ambassador. have a great day, everyone.

he spoke about bipartisanship in congress. obama: one of the most urgent challenges of our time is climate change. 2015 it is the warmest year on record. 2016 is on pace to be even hotter. when i took office i said we couldn't take this down the road any longer. we got to work. over the past seven and a half years we've made ambitious investments in clean energy. we have multiplied solar power more than 30 fold. areasts of america these are dirtier than conventional power. it is at its lowest level in 25 years. even as we are continuing to grow the economy. we have invested in energy

efficiency and slashing carbon in this -- emissions from home appliances. manageeforming how we sources that supply roughly 40% of america's coal. we've set the first-ever national standards limiting the amount of carbon pollution they can release into the sky. we've also set standards to increase the distance our vehicles can go on a gallon of gas. at a time we've seen auto sales surge manufactures are innovating and bringing new technologies to markets faster than expected. more than 100 cars and pickup trucks on the market today already meet vehicle standards ahead of schedule. we have seen a boom in the electric vehicle market. and moretery costs than 16,000 charging stations. we're not done yet. in the weeks and months ahead we

will release a second round of fuel efficiency standards for heavy-duty vehicles. the take steps to meet goals we set with canada and mexico to achieve 50% clean power across north america by 2025. we will continue to protect our land and water so that our kids and grandkids can enjoy our most beautiful spaces for generations. they're still much more to do. but there's no doubt that america has become a global leader in the fight against climate change. last year that leadership helped us spring nearly 200 nations again the most and vicious area. that is not something to tear up at something to build upon. if we keep pushing and leading the world in the right direction we can leave a better safer future for a children. chuck grassley: consider this.

on the first senate bill debated in 2015 under a new republican majority in the senate considered for amendments from both sides of the aisle than the entire previous year under the leadership of harry reid. that is the dramatic change in the way business is done for you and it is working. as chairman of the senate judiciary committee, i worked to make sure that the committee works for all americans. so i'd opted an approach to get things done. straight from the common sense nature of iowa. committee should spend your taxpayer dollars focusing on areas where we can reach an agreement rather than on political fights destined for

failure. it is the right thing to do and it works. bills passedthe 27 out of this committee under my leadership has had bipartisan support. the president has signed a 12 of those bills into law. expandedttee has access to justice, prioritized public safety and demanded accountability from the bureaucracy. republicans and democrats collaborated to enact legislation and to help communities heal the wounds of addiction. we reduce the illicit market for sex trafficking and modern slavery. to answer the call to protect communities. they fuel innovation and job growth.

of viola the economy and the rest of the nation. we expanded government transparency to make the federal government more accountable to the american people. these are just a few of the bipartisan bills i have led through the committee that have become law. they're helping americans from diverse walks of life. with four months left in this congress the judiciary committee has already outpaced the previous congress in bills processed in committee. we're not done yet. we are pushing ahead on legislation for all ages. we are making significant progress on the bill to prevent children from entering a life of crime and steering them toward a path of opportunity and productivity. we are moving a bill to reduce crimes against seniors by expanding education prevention and prosecution.

i have worked with colleagues to keep better tabs on convicted sex offenders. to ensure evidence is properly preserved to improve justice for victims. i am working with a diverse group of senators to recalibrate sentences for low-level drug offenders. keeping violent criminals off our streets. we empower government whistleblowers to tackle foreign waste and abuse in government. we are to listen to them in order to get things fixed. republicans and democrats can work together. bipartisanship has allowed us to make meaningful progress on great ideas from senators on both sides of the aisle. ensured thele has republican-led senate hasn't
