represent the kind of character qualities that i would like to see in president candidate. they should be role models. >> in donald trump does make it to our next president, do you think you could work with him? >> i will work with whoever we elect. the challenges are too big, we need to get things done. i mentioned earlier some things on the domestic side that are important. we've got to get the economy growing again, we have had the worst economic recovery since the end of war two. this will be the first president who will not have a first year the economic growth rate is not more than 3%. we have flat wages. we're going to need leadership and people who will step up. whoever the president is, i'm going to get results. i presume we can get things done even at times when the politics
2:52 pm
polarized.try are >> will you be able to work with that person if they are elected president? >> that is appoint a major disagreement between ourselves. we do have a seriously flawed candidate. donald trump is seriously unfit to be president, that is the opinion of lots of mainstream republicans. bush is going to vote for hillary clinton, and i can but many -- i can name many more. donald trump is a sexual predator, a man is made statements, and just today 20 or so women confirmed the statements he made. i'm disappointed in senator thune that he is said that he will still vote for donald trump.
2:53 pm
i think donald is actually dangerous for our country. if he was elected president, we would have to work with him, but i think it would be a really dangerous thing. hillary clinton, i don't think is a flawed candidate. he is a -- she is a woman who is come from modest midwestern means, she went to public wasols and yale, she secretary of state, she was a senator, she was a faithful wife. she is but a great role model, i would have my daughter take her for a role model. donald trump is the opposite. that it really illustrates the problem we have dealing with the republican party today. the senator says he gets a lot of things done, but he has been area obstructionists. we don't have a supreme court, we had a 4-4 supreme court despite the fact that it is the
2:54 pm
constitutional duty of the senate to defend the supreme court. our economy is doing great, we have since oh president obama took over. he brought us to where we have record stock market prices and we are nearly at full employment. unfortunately, he is had to do that with no help at all from the republican party. he has obstructed everything. when humana get tom daschle, he said i am readying its and because there are obstructionists. he was very cooperative president bush but when president obama took over, he is done the opposite. one of the main things the senator was against with tom daschle was the judicial appointments. at the time, president bush had
2:55 pm
91% of his judges approved. president obama has only have 6%. -- 76%. republicans have had to legislative meetings in which they said they would not go along with anything president obama is going to do. we have to change that. i am a nonpolitical guy and i will work to change that. >> i want to move on to immigration, but before i do -- [laughter] --the issue of of sharpton obstructionists have come up. your follow-up. >> in the time i've been in congress, i have stood up when south dakota's interests needed to be stood up for. i stood up for my own president, when president bush was in office.
2:56 pm
i stood up against president obama when he was against south dakota. you want someone who will stand up for south dakota values. with respect to role models, hillary clinton has repeatedly lied to the american people about whether or not she sent or received e-mails on her private e-mail account. she has destroyed 33,000 e-mails after she received a subpoena her to keep the told the them. she was called extremely careless with national security classified information. that is not somebody who is a role model. >> just quickly, i don't want to belabor the point too long, but secretaryis that clinton has been a role model for all women. she is been working for women
2:57 pm
and children are entire career. this enough controversy is just something made up by the republicans. anyone who knows about e-mail knows you can't just a store e-mail, it has two sides. any e-mail that she may have since received had another side of it, it is still out there. wikileaks is releasing e-mails today, and certainly some of those 33,000 are in their. to say that south dakota values, i wonder what self coded values he thinks donald trump has. immigration. it is something that south dakotans think about. what would you do to secure our handle illegalso immigrants? >> illegal immigration has gone
2:58 pm
down under president obama. as far as illegal immigration coming cross our border from the south, that is almost nonexistent now. what we really have, the problem we have is that between 10,000,000-15,000,000 people illegally, they overstate a visa or came across the border. they are leaving underneath the curtain. they don't have the protections of our country, and we need to find a way to address that so that those people have a fair way to access our country. really eventually participate in it. they came here because they see the united dates for what it is, the greatest country in the world. they are working right now, paying taxes, doing this kind of things, but they are not enjoying the things that our country has. we need to be vigilant, of course. i think we should bring refugees and the middle east where people are being killed and bring in
2:59 pm
women and children refugees. they used to be a thing that the republican party did. platform, they wanted to provide asylum for refugees. that is something republicans walked away from. i think the illegal immigration problem is not the problem it was. we have to be vigilant, below we really need to do is find ways to help people here in this country that are underneath the covers. need help them come out and participate in our country, get the fruits of the work they're doing. >> senator, the same question, what more can we do to protect our border and deal with a little -- illegal immigrants? >> we are a nation of immigrants. norway, father came from the only english words they knew were apple pie and coffee. they had to learn the language,
3:00 pm
and we had a different last name. the immigration officials asked them to change their name, so they chose the form where they worked. we have a long we have a long tradition of being a nation of him at once in this country or it we are also a nation of laws. we have to enforce the laws. theheated -- the key to immigration debate his enforcement. you can't do with the people who are here illegally unless you first do with sealing the border creating a biometric entry exit system so we can track people here that overstay their visas. have a way of verifying in the work place with the someone is legal when they come to work in this country. we have to do the enforcement first. if you don't get that part done rs
