and i'm going to miss it a lot. up until i ran for this office, i was mainly flying coach, so i know what a pain the process can be from searching for the best prices to that feeling you get when the baggage carousel stops and yours still has not come out. -- all take pride in getting us to our destination safely and on time. they do good work and we are proud of them. it i think we all know the system can work a little bit better for everybody. and that is why over the last eight years, my administration has taken common sense steps to do just that. we put in place rules that virtually eliminated excessive delays on the tarmac. we required airlines to give travelers more flex ability on cancellations, to provide refunds to anyone who cancels within 24 hours of purchase and to give you compensation if you were bumped off your flight because it was oversold.

this week, i was proud to build with more options to save you money, create competition, and make sure you get what you pay for. first, we are proposing refunds for anyone whose bag is delayed as you should not have to pay extra for a service you do not even receive. second, we are wiring airlines to report more information on things like how likely it is you will lose your luggage or reach your destination on time. are providing more protections for travelers with disabilities. finally, we are ramping up transparency for online ticket platforms, so it sites cannot privilege one airline over another without you knowing about it read all of this should help you make better decisions for yourself and your families and hopefully avoid a few headaches, too. it's another example of how government can be a force of good, standing up for consumers, ensuring businesses compete fairly to give you the best services at the best prices and

making sure every day americans have a voice in the conversation, not just corporate shareholders. that is what this is all about. taking steps -- some big, some small -- that can make your life better. thanks, everybody. have a great weekend. tillis: i'm thom tillis. i'm proud to be a senator from the great state of north carolina. we heard president obama deliver a speech updating the american people on his health care law, obamacare. rather than admit it is not working, the president pays -- painted a rosy picture. it's certainly not what we are seeing here in north carolina, with the latest wave of premium increases and policy cancellations. president bill clinton had to admit the consequences of obamacare are, in his words, "the craziest thing in the world." ago, presidents

obama repeatedly promised families they would be able to keep their health care plans if they like to them. we all know that wasn't true. as millions of americans received cancellation notices forcing them to pick a new plan and in many cases a new doctor. he also promised obamacare would lower insurance premiums i some $2500 a year. instead premiums have increased by an average of $5,000 a year since before the law was enacted. i agree with president bill clinton. the reality of obamacare is the craziest thing in the world. since i became senator in 2015, y office has been inundated with calls, e-mails from north carolinians telling us how obamacare has been a nightmare for them and their families. letter came from a couple who are lifelong small business owners and they are ready to retire or if they ask

leaned to me -- they explained to me their premium jumped $1400 a month, forcing them to forgo health insurance altogether for the first time in their lives. i received another letter from a father of a family of four. he and his wife both work full time and they are already -- they have already gone through an entire savings to make in me during this great recession. he has seen his family premiums go up $600 a month before obamacare was signed into law, this year.th the stories are heartbreaking. the tragedy is how common they are in communities across north carolina. many families have not seen the worst of obamacare yet. unfortunately, right now at least, 1.4 million americans, including more than a quarter of a million north carolinians, are receiving cancellation notices informing them they will lose the health care plan they

another government plan. we have been listening to the frustration felt by the american people. led by members like north ,arolina, senator richard burr we are pursuing commonsense reforms to replace obamacare, reforms to put health care decisions back in the hands of patients and doctors. our funds will allow families to get the insurance companies that meet their needs. patient centered reforms like richard burr's would lower health care costs while protecting americans with pre-existing conditions without the need for costly government mandates. americans have a stark choice to future oftermine the health care in our country. we can continue down the path created by president obama and expand obamacare, leading to fewer choices and higher premiums and deductibles, or we profess what we already know

-- obamacare is broken. instead, why don't we implement a common sense solution that will result in higher quality care and lower cost? the heart aches of obamacare do not have to be the norm. there's a better way to improve and modernize our health-care system and only republicans are offering that alternative. i give her your time and may god bless the united states of america. ♪ the idea of with reproductive rights and i went and researched. i knew i could find information on that and that would also help me figure out what points i wanted to say about it and how to form my outline for my piece. >> i think i took a very methodical approach. but asd, if you wanted, anse as this i think it is
