something better. that is different than what we have been talking about. do you think the president was saying something different here or was that his way of saying in his way there is no view anything is going to be better? >> he was giving voice to the same argument i was making. simply that if republicans are willing to sit down and look for ways to improve the health care system, willing to work with democrats the president believes democrats should work with them. it sounds like today he volunteered to be one of them. >> even if they want to replay -- repeal it? >> the president is simply saying it republicans of ideas that would be better for the american people, we have a way to judge based on the access to

health care that is dramatically expanded under the affordable care act, based on the way the deficit has been reduced, medicare trust fan has been they can do itf and it covers more people or do it for less money than president obama -- the point he is making is there is no pride of authorship here. with the heritage foundation who conceived of some of the key aspects of this plan. he has shared credit with mitt romney who said health care plan served as the template for the affordable care act. he did not do that because he is good buddies with mitt romney. he's not. president obama was willing to use the template he developed because it was a good idea.

it worked in massachusetts and it has worked for the united states of america. there's no pride of authorship here. if republicans have ideas that are going to make it that are the president will help them and encourage them and support them as they try to implement it. the problem has been for seven years publicans have insisted on simply voting to repeal the law without ever putting forward any sort of realistic plan to replace it. some of the ideas they have floated would not make the health care system in this country better or cheaper or cover more people. it would make many problems worse. tension.he as long as republicans are only focused on throwing the health care system into chaos i don't think they are going to find much support at all from democrats. i think they are going to have trouble maintaining support
