that thee hill writng secretary mattis added to president trump's suggestion today that the summit with kim jong-un it may still happen a day after the president called it off. the defense secretary spoke before the foreign minister. >> good to see you all. thanks for being here. country, big spirit. thanks for coming out today.

a little warm for you, i know, especially the guys who have to carry the heavy stuff. but it's a good day for us. we look forward to days like this here today. we've got possibly some good summit whereorea we may be able to pull it off, may have it back on. the president just sent out a note about that a few moments ago. let you all know that that's the usual give and take, putknow, of trying to together big summits and stuff. work.ats are still at from our point of view here at the defense department, that's a fine thing. >> can you describe what you mean by the good news? >> the diplomats are still at work on the summit. the possibility of a summit. news.t's very good >> this will happen on june 12? thegain, basically diplomats are working on it.

but nothing has changed. besides some pretty positive views between the two leaders. >> are you optimistic? >> i don't do that. you always wish the diplomats when you're in the department of defense. >> what do the north koreans have therder to summit? >> i leave this in the hands of those responsible. there's enough people talking no responsibility. i'll let them talk all they want. hope and pray that the diplomats pull it off. thanks again for being out here today. very good day for us. we have a very good road map. how many of you are from denmark? a few of you, yeah, between your ministry of defense and our department of defense. a good road map for cooperation in the midst of our alliance. it's always good to have that sort of bilateral relationship. so much for being out here. i wanted to come out and say thank you.
