>> the house bill in many ways exceeds what the pentagon and the president asked for in this defense bill. 93will approve funding for of the 135 strike fighters. congresswoman and chair of the house appropriations defense committee has said she wants to buy these 93 planes as opposed to the pentagon's requested 77 to drag down the cost. when you drag down -- when you buy in bulk, it makes those cheaper. they also happen to be assembled at a lockheed martin facility in her district. builds 12 ships for the navy compared the presence request of 10. the appropriators have approved funding for two combat ships as one that the

over 135 amendments -- >> what are some of the key issues you are looking for that might come up under the second rule? patrick: a couple of amendments will get the ball rolling. there's an amendment that would billion.funding by $5 it's probably not going anywhere but that gets the ball going. the amendment i'm particularly anerested in watching is arizona republican and two of her colleagues. it's the a 10 warthog which is an aircraft in the air force. appropriate $163

to the current a-10 fleet. it's over what the pentagon requested. that funding level was authorized in the houses authorization bill. amendment come will be seen debate on that today. some of the democratic parties, the headline of your piece, democrats target defense bill for immigration and china debate. than a: there are more dozen amendments that relate to president donald trump's immigration policies in some way or another. the handful of democrats filed separate amendments that would from loaninggon money to the defense department to the justice department for

paying for immigration cases. it would be taking resources away from the pentagon and them into a different federal agency. it will be adjusting deceivers made into a ruler not. there's also an amendment that that wouldny funding be used to build facilities to house migrant children. also, ruben gallego has some that would ban any pentagon funding from going to build the border wall area the democrats covered all their bases on immigration. on china, as you mentioned, ruben gallego again, he's a democrat from arizona and a former marine, has an amendment that would ban chinese telecom

companies from doing any business with the pentagon. it would also ensure the penalties that were initially imposed on the company or other this year both from mr. asian -- this year by the trump administration would remain in place. see would be interesting to what would happen with those amendments. outside those concerns, anything democrats will vote with the final vote comes up on defense spending? what we spoke about earlier that budget agreement, both arereally given and democrats a lot of what they wanted. as i mentioned, it passed out of committee so i'm sure there'll be some democratic by an. -- buy in. i imagine this will pass with democratic support. patrick: you can follow -- >>
